During a recent wind storm both of my gutter downspouts blew off the building. Kenny came out, looked everything over and came back in a few days. Kenny and his team were responsive, personable, and knowledgeable from the beginning to end. I had a small leak on my roof, but also needed someone to identify and close any openings that would be entry points for squirrels and other animals (eek). Not only did Kenny quickly identify the issue with the leak and possible openings - he walked my property with me and provided really great suggestions for general maintenance and upkeep (first time home owner here). He and his foreman didn't use jargon, but spoke in terms I understood and pointed out where the issues were. I learned a lot from them. They were able to begin the work the next day. Sadly - they found a squirrel nest (so gross) and much more damage than expected. Again he showed the damage, explained the work that needed to happen, then did it. It was both pretty awful and pretty epic. Fantastic work. Kenny and his crew repaired some minor gutter issues I had (sealed corners, affixed the gutter back onto the house), cleaned the gutters, and tuckpointed a small section of masonry for me. (Edited to add: They also replaced a piece of siding from my second floor that had fallen off, and made sure another piece was no longer loose.) I hope some people read this, so you don't have to go through what we went through with this company.... We had some shingles that had shifted on our roof. Several roofing companies left us fliers wanting our business to fix our roof. When we were approaching the time to move, we decided to get the roof looked at and fixed. We picked one of the companies from the fliers, trying to give a smaller business a chance. We chose Kenny Ephraim Roofing. I talked to Ken, who is a very pleasant guy to talk to. We wanted a few repairs done, our gutters cleaned, and some of the missing and shifted shingles replaced. His first price was $1,100. After I paused, he quickly stated that he'd take $900 if I could provide cash. I agreed, which I now know was a mistake. He did the work, we paid him, and he left. Well, two months later, we had the inspection on the house for the sale. The inspector noticed some missing shingles on the roof. So, of course, we called Ken to come take a look at it. He didn't return our call. I called a few more times. No response. Finally, I got him on the phone and he said he'd be over at a specific time. The time came and went and he didn't show up. So, in order to sell our house on time, we had to get another company to come fix the work that Ken and his company did. That cost us another $1,600. I spoke to Ken after and asked for a credit. His response was, "do you have anything in writing from me?". Essentially, I made a mistake. Going on price alone, we thought we had a good deal. But really, we didn't do our job in getting what he was going to do in writing. He saw our mistake, and he took advantage. The truth is, they barely did anything to our roof. They made it so you couldn't see the missing shingles from the ground, took our $900, and left. But our real mistake, was dealing with Ken to begin with. Lesson learned. I see the owner replied and said he tried to work something out but didn't get a chance. For the record. We spoke. I asked for some sort of a credit. I'm not sure what other possible scenario would make things better...but I know he's not willing to give any credit. read more

The water was running along my building, and into my house. Kenny and his team completed the work, and did such a great job in cleaning up all of the debris. I had water Frozen in my gutters. We had Kenny and his crew come by a couple of weeks ago to clean our gutters. The day they were scheduled to come it was raining, so we rescheduled to another day. There was good communication with Kenny and they came when they said they would on the rescheduled date. They knew what they were doing and handled everything professionally. While on our roof, they noticed that we had two shingles missing and offered to help us repair it. We luckily had a few pieces of shingles in the garage and so they nailed it down for us. They even helped with caulking a few areas when I asked if there was anything up there that they saw needed work on. The whole process did not take long. I cannot say enough amazing things about the crew at AJ Roofing! They are prompt, professional, knowledgeable and flexible! This is our second time using them and I should have written a review the first time we used them but I never got around to it and then I forgot...but they were outstanding then too. For this, our second call, we were in a jam! Due to the frigid snowy weather and then a sudden spike in temperature we had last month, we had huge sheets of ice and snow sliding off of our roof. Then on a Monday, in the middle of the afternoon suddenly we hear a scrapping sound, followed by a ripping sound, followed by a crash! When we went outside to look, we were horrified to find that a huge thick sheet of solid ice had slid off of our pitched roof and had basically taken the entire gutter on the length of the house with it. We found a portion of our mangled gutter crumpled in our side lot and the other half hanging by a nail from the roof. I was mortified but not daunted because I knew who to call. I called AJ Roofing that day (Monday), they were there on Tuesday to give us an estimate and were working on the repairs on Wednesday. Their prices are always reasonable and they always do MORE than what they promised. If they come across a small unforeseen problem that wasn't covered in their original estimate, they'll take care of it because they take pride in their work...and I appreciate that. I recommended them to my Mom who needed all new gutters on her investment property and they equally as amazing as well as patient since my Mom is the Queen of "...and another thing..."! I found this company on Angie's List and thought that I would share my experience with Yelp. I had several shingles blow off my roof and needed them replaced. It's a high steep roof and I would not touch it. I called JR Roofing and spoke to Alex. He came over quickly and gave me a price that I could live with. He and his crew (4 men) came the next day at the agreed time and repaired the damage. It's high on the roof. but it looks well done. He also removed leaves from the front gutters. The repair cost $250 and it seemed a fair price. I would use them again. read more

Kenny worked with his grandfather since he was a kid and took over when his grandfather passed away. I chose his service from Yelp due to good reviews. Schedule with him was easy and effortless. He did a free inspection, showed me the pictures of damaged sites, and explained to me what needs to be done. During the process, I could easily tell Kenny loves his job and enjoy what he is doing, which is not very common nowadays. He was very friendly, down to the earth, and no fluffing. Had several people come out to look at my roof after damage was discovered. Insurance company said the work was minor. Didn't file a claim due to estimates showing the repairs would be less than my deductible. A Company came out and claimed I needed a whole new roof. Had a couple of other companies come by who said that a new roof wasn't needed. And only minor repairs were needed. But since I didn't need a new roof, they didn't want to do the work. So I waited until after winter and contacted a couple of other companies. Some didn't respond to my requests. And others wanted more money than I was willing to pay. Contacted Kenny after reading a couple of reviews on Yelp. Contacted me right away. Came out a week later and inspected the damage. Gave me a decent quote. A couple of days later, him and his crew came out, did the necessary repairs plus cleaned my gutters. And they were out. Appreciate the promptness and the straightforwardness.
