Our downspout gutters were frozen with recent snow storm and cold causing water damage to the units directly below it. We got reference of Kenny and right from beginning he was very responsive and answered a lot of questions. His team was always on time and fixed the issue very quickly. The entire experience working with him from start to end was just phenomenal. I would highly recommend Kenny for your needs. Thank you to your team Kenny.

Speaking only on behalf of the quoting process as we did not use for the work. Situation: getting water in bedroom with flat roof with deck above the leaking section (corner of the room getting water, above is the edge of the deck) The good: we called, they came out the next day. Apologized on text after I said "no one talks to me the way you guys did". The bad: quite aggressive. Use loud voices. And use words like "you definitely have mold" - we don't . Had a mold specialist out, per him it takes years for water to turn to mold but they scared the crap out of me - I was clear, leak only in winter, stated last March. Has been patched and dried... On the actual inspection of roof - no one got down to see the problem areas. No one took pictures. Only thing we were told is you need a new roof. Some of my favorite quotes "I'm not even looking at anything until you take the deck off". "Im not even gonna try give you a patch estimate.". Kenny never measured where the leak was and what was directly above and if they could find a cause. Different roofing company came after - got down on their hands and knees after measuring where the leak was..."shockingly " found it accessible without taking off the deck. Found an inch long hole, right by the gutter exiting. Patched that area and a couple other potential areas (no deck above affected area) for $150. We poured some water up there, and used a moisture meter...seeems it's fixed. Moral: you need a new roof, ok great. But that's all these folks are interested in. Up sell...and scary talk and rude, aggressive talking.

    Porch damage

K E was to seal front porch. As a part of the process they roughened the existing seal and underlaying concrete. Upon application of seal, I ad used concern of un-I level surface, to which I was advised the solution would level. It did not, KE didn't complete follow up appointments and refused to return any calls. They not only provided unsatisfactory work, but actually caused damage to my property without remedy.

    New roof

Our condo association had Kenny's team replace the flat roof on our building. We received several quotes and liked Kenny's responsiveness to our many questions, his reasonable pricing, and extended warranty compared to others. The new roof was installed in about three days which included the complete tear off with removal of a rooftop deck and new waterproofing and weep ropes under the limestone caps. The team was very quick and hard working. Several weeks after the new roof was installed we noticed a spot where a more than normal amount of water was pooling up after the rain. We let Kenny know and he had a couple guys come to buildup the spot so the water would flow to the downspouts. We would recommend Kenny's Roofing to anyone looking to have repair work or a new roof installed.

Kenny and his crew showed up and did a fantastic job on my deck and brick path laying in my backyard. The whole crew was very kind and a pleasure to work with from start to finish.

We enjoyed working with Kenny and his team on our roof project. We bought a house with a 20+ year old roof and had Kenny and a few other roofers come by for a quote. Kenny was the most thorough and worked with us on the proposal so we got what we needed at a good price. They were prompt, good with communication, and took care of everything we asked of them.

So after twenty years of making modest hardwood fires, I started to have a cough. My sister came to visit and even being in the living room (no fire) made her cough and gave her a runny nose. Thinking, okay, I'll have my chimney cleaned, I called Chicago Chimney. Toni was nice and said that Mario was really good at his work, and it would be $150. When he came, pleasant, personable, and clearly competent, I could see that being near my fireplace was making his nose run. I told him about my sister. Might need more that just a cleaning, he said. He shone his flashlight up a short ways into the fireplace. "I call that black glass", he said. What is it? I said. My English is not so good, he said, underestimating his excellent skills. Google clarified. I found out that bubbles of "black glass" represent the third stage of a serious creosote problem-- first soot, then tar that is runny, then the glass part, beautiful and perfectly ready for a chimney fire. One thing about my dad, he prepared me to know a good person when I saw him. Mario said that he was going to have to come back with material and brushes that could dissolve the creosote. The next day, when forty or fifty pounds of mortar on the chimney lining just fell off piece by piece once the creosote was not holding it all together, he explained that another day and another step would be involved, putting a mixture of protective covering over a now very porous surface, insulation, sealant. (As it happened, he did this himself by crawling up into the tight black space and painting it on. The dilemma of having a helper who was unwilling to do it was a problem he would deal with later. He took the guy off to another job and came back. It was this part, where he was a matter of fact about doing the exceptionally nasty work, and understanding about the kid's inability to do it-- he just said "last winter I was doing this every day." I want to put a sign up in my yard for him and his professional and humane work. He charged me $900 for the cleaning part and $1100 for the resealing part. Interestingly, this is less than $150/ year for 20 years, not even counting inflation; I recommend him wholeheartedly for yearly (or every-other-year sweeping) and for the whole cleaning and sealant job if you are someone who didn't know how bad it could get. He does tuckpointing too. The warmth and charm apparently come free.

We contacted the company and they told us they would send the guy back out to repair the work, but they never did. Then they told us that the guy Mario, who did the work does not work for them anymore. We ask them to send someone else to repair our chimney . They stopped taking our phone calls and would not answer our text messages. I recommend anyone needing chimney work to stay away from this company.

I was given the opportunity to work with Habitar Design specifically working closely with Mitch Newman and designer Hannah Tindall. My boyfriend and I had just moved into a stunning downtown condo where we were excited to make it our own in terms of design, constructing modern built ins in the family room/living room, adding custom cabinets to our existing kitchen, new hardwood floors, updating two bathrooms and desired a new design layout. And let me say in all honesty, we are excessively demanding with details and obsessive with mundane details....and yet Habitar Design still exceeded our expectations! With many downtown condos, our space was small, but Mitch Newman and his design team allowed us to capture the feeling of "home" and express our taste in our new place. We were immediately drawn to Mitch Newman's attention to detail, level of professionalism, brilliant visionary work, and his craftsmanship is truly an artist's work. His background as a physician demonstrates a level of commitment and knowledge, and all his life experiences really allow him to be magnificent in his craft. I cannot stress enough, the level of quality in his craftsmanship---gorgeous, it was beyond beautiful and better than I had imagined! Our friends & family had no idea we had customized and designed our own built-ins with Mitch, they truly thought we had ordered them from one of the high end Italian stores in Chicago. He was a true visionary from his design of the plans, execution of the construction, selection of materials, even down to the choice of a cabinet or drawer fixture. We also loved working with Hannah Tindall as our designer. She was able to keep us organized with our design ideas and encourage our own creativity but allow us to showcase our design aesthetic in a tasteful, functional, and cohesive manner. Hannah Tindall worked tirelessly to make sure our experience was delightful and inspiring. I would highly recommend Mitch Newman, Hannah Tindall, and Habitar Design, and will definitely use them again in the near future. Unfortunately, my relationship with the boyfriend did end after 6 years, but the most difficult part was walking away from my beautiful home. I didn't want to leave my gorgeous home where Habitar Design inspired and captured my perfect aesthetic combination of personalized palette colors, room balance, modern comfort, and my love for the space. Thank you for the amazing experience and look forward to seeing you soon for a new project!

Everyone at Stratagem from the owner, Mitch, to each person that works for him is helpful, thoughtful, and committed to doing good work.
