I had a pretty scary situation this morning. I woke up to a loud bang and had no idea what happened. After checking the building, I realized the roof had been damaged from the wind and part of it had blown off. Eric and his project manager Rafael came out, went up on the roof, and showed me photos and videos of the damage so I could see exactly what was going on. They explained everything clearly and showed me how The plywood underneath was completely exposed. I was extremely paranoid then they made me feel a lot better about the situation. When they said they could help me and there's no need to panic. I was so scared rain was gonna come down and destroy everything. They performed an emergency repair right away and secured the roof with membrane so water wouldn't get into the building. Now we're scheduled to move forward with a full new roof. We had purchased our home about 10 months ago and lo and behold, the roofing company that was contracted to do the work did a sub-par job. I called so many other roofers for quotes and they were charging me an arm and a leg to re-coat our roof with aluminum paint! I called George Roofing and Eric was incredibly responsive and gave me a very reasonable quote. He had one guy come out on a Tuesday, but there was unexpected rain in the forecast and instead of doing the work and risk the rain causing issues, he called and apologized (weather is not his fault) and were on the job the very next morning. Not only did they come early, Eric added another guy to the team and they not only did the job quickly and efficiently, he also said the original roofers did not seal the air vents which could potentially cause issues as the years go by with the harsh Chicago rainy and winter seasons! I hate to leave bad reviews, especially since most people seem to have good experiences when working with this company but the unprofessional attitude and shoddy work kind of forced my hand. George came out to fix the gutters on our newly purchased (but very old) home. This turned into a project to have all the gutters replaced for about $5000. The team he then sent out had an unexpected delay (a medical issue) which was fine. Their leaving about 100 feet of aluminum on the grass in our backyard for more than a week instead of taking it with them was not..but most of the dead grass will probably grow back. When they finished they left at least 3 10ft sections of old gutter on the top of our roof (1 piece randomly fell off...no injuries luckily) . I didn't realize until weeks later where it came from as it's not an area you can see easily from outside or a window we look out of much from inside. But the big issue is that there are two areas of our brand new $5000 gutters that are leaking when it rains. For 5 months I have been in contact with George and for months he has given me the run around. About 3 months after I noticed the leaks someone came out to remove the old aluminum on our roof and did absolutely nothing about the leak. Since then the responses has been "I'll contact my repair guy" who somehow has never materialized. Mind you he literally came out to give us a quote the day after I contacted him. Guess things change after they cash the check. Now I have a hole in my roof from where huge icicles formed at one of the leaks and fell, damaging my roof. So I can add roof repair and dry wall repair to the running tab. Maybe I just got unlucky and they usually do great work so they aren't used to having to repair mistakes. All I know is that I truly regret using this company. Your mileage may vary but be careful. read more

So yeah, buyer beware. Eric makes sure that he responds quickly to new money. However, there is NO WARRANTY on the work performed. There is no reason my flashing should be coming apart on virtually all sides. I have to now have another roofer replace the flashing. The roofer also also stated that the work was shotty at best, said nothing was properly secured. Flashing should last at least ten years. Mine is a year and a half old year in and it is all falling apart or missing now. The owner does not want to stop by and look at the crap work done by his crew and said he didn't have availability for weeks. If the work is shotty, there's no reason to work with someone who's a scam artist. read more

We had an inspection and were told that there may be a roof leak. I am very happy with the work completed on my garage. I contacted George and notified him I had a garage roof that needed to be replaced as soon as possible. I was given a reasonable quote in a timely manner and he fit my project in his schedule the following week. The crew was very professional. They tore down and replaced the existing roof and vent. All debris was cleaned up and my yard was left as if no one had been there. All said and done, took his crew 4 no more than 5 hours to complete. I gave it 4 stars due to work seemed rushed through and some spots were missed on roof and lead me to believe I was getting a mat later over the entire roof for extra cost and it was just silver paint. I'm very behind in my reviews, but last winter in 2021 I had a roof leak due to an ice dam build up. My neighbor was also having a roof leak and this company was out to do a repair. I thought it was great timing and felt lucky so I had them inspect my roof as well. They said the snow and ice needed to be cleared and it would stop the leak and then a repair could be made. Two guys that were already at the building working at my neighbors charged me $500 to just clear my small, flat roof of snow. They were out there less than an hour. I thought that was an exorbitant amount, but was happy for the leak to stop and let it go. The owner then quoted me over $2k to do the repair work. When I said no and I would be getting other quotes he proceeded to message me that he could give me "a better deal" for the repairs. Maybe quote jobs fairly the first time. I'm happy to pay a fair price for the work and not be made to feel like I need to negotiate a deal. I do not trust this company and would not hire them again. I got another company to fix my roof for half the price and it has been great ever since. read more

I had requested estimates on tuckpointing from several businesses I had found on Yelp. Eric George was one of the first to respond and I was very pleased with the work he and his team did for us. The work was scheduled and completed the week following the estimate. Our house is about 125 years old, and there were a few additional problems that were uncovered while the work was in progress. Eric was able to give me different options on if and how to do the additional work and they were able to work it into the existing schedule without having to leave and come back at a future date. Even though the project ended up costing me a bit more than expected, I felt fairly treated, since the some additional issues along the foundation and on the roof itself were taken care of. First, the contact person George always replied very fast. When I first called the company in evening and left a message. He called me back in two hours. Since then I communicated quite a lot with questions or making appointments, he always replied promptly with few exceptions when he was busy. Second, the company worked very efficiently. Although he and his coworkers had a busy schedule, he made great efforts to arrange time on next day for an inspection and estimate. George and two co-workers arrived on time on inspection day. They examined carefully on the roof and wall, and provided the written inspection and estimate on the same day. Third, George is a very friendly person. On the first day I met him, he talked to me in a friendly way, explained to me the inspection results professionally. He told me it is necessary to repair the roof as well as the wall as soon as possible to protect the building. But he always used a persuasive and friendly way. When I told him we had a HOA team so we would discuss it as soon as possible. he just used a professional way to follow up. Fourth, the company, including George, tried to provide high quality service. I would like to provide a few examples. We had leaking on the roof in the surrounding area of the skylight. A HOA member asked a good question if the leak in that area would be covered at the price he offered. When I passed the question to him, he told us it would be covered. But of course, the skylight itself would not be covered if it was broken. In his estimate, it indicated the repair of crack of walls would be covered. But on that day, they only examined one side of the wall which had leaks. When I asked him, if the other sides would be covered or not, he told me, if the condition was not bad, it would be covered, if there were a lot of cracks, he needed to add money for other three sides. I considered this was a reasonable idea. He came by for an inspection for other three sides. I was impressed for his high responsibility towards the work. George told me that they use new and good materials. Although I didn't take a look of the materials, I feel George is a decent person as well as the company, so I still mentioned here. Another high quality work is the masonry work on the wall. There were quite some cracks on the wall. The masonry was very skillful, sealed the cracks very neat. I saw his work by my eyes. I feel his work is a miniature of this company's work. I originally thought to write this review after someone went to the roof to take a look. But no one did, I still wrote this very positive review. Fifth, George told me he gave us a decent discount. Honestly, this is my first time to deal with roof repair and masonry work, I don't have much knowledge on that. But I heard that that is a good deal for covering these work. Sixth, They cleaned the roof and hauled off the trashes and debris. I have to admit, this is my personal impression and experience. I'm writing this review a year late, as I just contacted George Roofing & Masonry for potentially another job, and realized I never wrote anything the last time. A year ago in February 2021, we had that huge snow storm problem where it snowed for like a week straight in Chicago-- everyone was having major roof and gutter issues with ice dams and roof leaks. Unfortunately, my flat roof could not handle the volume of snow and ice, and I had water pouring through my walls and ceiling. I had an emergency on my hands. I contacted 3 or 4 different companies and the going rate if I remember correctly was something like $3,000 PRE-PAID to just have anyone show up to look at it and then perform any removal--- that's IF they could even squeeze me in within 24 hours.... I contacted George Roofing and Eric, Ricky's son, returned my call right away (even though he was on vacation!). He quoted me a better price than $3,000, and assured me that they would get me into their rotation, no matter what, but that it might be late before they could get to me because they were so backed up--- and to hang tight, they'd be in touch. Low and behold, Eric's brother Shawn and his crew made good on the promise and showed up I think almost going on 9pm--- worked in the dark and got my leaks to stop! To make a long story short, they came back and did some additional patch work, and then a week later I had them do the whole roof. Beginning to end, my experience with them was fantastic. When I called for an estimate Eric was very informative and explained the whole process for our garage roof that needed to be replaced. Once we were ready to schedule they came out the next day. The work they all did was great and neat, with no mess left behind. It turns out they removed not only one set of shingles but the 70 year old original shingles too!
