I contacted Nombach on 7/16/24 re: an estimate for home + garage tuckpointing. Nice lady took my info and scheduled an appt with me. She informed me the rep would be Marcus who called me later to confirm appt however there was a time discrepancy...rep stated 9a and he said all he had was 3p. I took the 3 tho I wanted an earlier appt. Before the date I received an email confirming the 9a time. I informed Marcus and he said it was a system glitch. Hmmm ok. He arrived on time for my appt which was 7/24/24. He took his time measuring, answering concerns, using contractor language I didn't know about. I had a couple of issues with the work protocol. A prior contractor informed me he would be replacing entire sections for the same price vs Nomach wanted to work around them for the same price. He went to his truck and wrote out proposals which took about 1 hour. I know my house needs a good tuckpointing job but on one side it's just a few areas, the other side needs a little more attention and the garage needs sum tlc all around the bottom 1/2 but $24,609.24 is outrageous to me. The prior contractor wanted the same. I understand they may be qualified to do the job but that is a good chunk of my income to pay for a job. I get why my neighbors and others do it the cheaper route. People have $25k just laying around? We talked about other jobs too like replacing my door frame in my garage, said he had to consult with someone else; adding gutters to my garage, replacing wood - $5,222.11.....should have used the other guy 2 years ago who said he would do the same for $2100; replacing 5 concrete stairs and not the landing - $9,717....another guy said $10k 2 remove everything and rebuild. I'm sure Nombach does good work but u gotta have money to deal with them. Not for the middle class folk like me. read more

After careful inspection, he said that conditions were not as bad as suggested in our home inspection report, and that the work could/should be delayed until some time in the future. Can't speak to the quality of their work since, since they wouldn't serve me. When I called, I spent about five minutes giving them my personal info only to be told that they don't serve my area (Edgewater). That's peculiar since their website plays up their Chicago-based business and also cites the suburbs and outlying areas ther serve. They might want to add a section that cites all of the Chicago neighborhoods that they consider off-limits. read more

They did a great job reconstructing the brick pillars on the sides of our entry staircase on our bungalow. Then, they rebuild our rear stair entry, adding a much needed landing. They were prompt, and super communicative. Even when there delays related to materials being out of stock, they regularly called me to keep me updated. These guys tuckpointed our condo building that was definitely in need. Great price. Guy came and gave us an estimate 2-3 days later. Th price was very reasonable. Easy scheduling. They showed up on the day/time confirmed...which when you are dealing with contractors other business, it's surprising how many people bail. The service was great! Building looks a ton better and also no more cracks. The only complaint I have is...they were working above our deck. The deck is pretty tore up from their equipment-ladders, etc. also, we found gum and peanut shells all over our deck...come on guys...there's a garbage right outside on our deck. So unfortunately, we will have to power wash and restain our deck again from the scratches and gashes on the floor. read more

My fiance and I just moved into a new home that needed some touch ups here and there. I have used Nombach in the past and I knew I could count on them to do the work I needed in a timely manner and excellent work. We had two windows replaced in the kitchen area and some siding redone that had been damaged in a fire years before. In addition we needed our cement porch redone due to cracking and stains. I was quoted and once the plans were drawn out I knew I would have these items completed as soon as possible. The salesman was a great listener and did not try to sell me more than what was needed. He offered great responses to the questions that I had and was extremely patient. The work was completed and we could not be happier with the aftermath. As a condo owner, it has been difficult for us (condo association) to find an establishment offering reasonable rates, professionalism, and quality service for roof repairs. While searching through the internet, luckily I came across Nombach's webpage and was able to setup an appointment quickly. The representative, Stephen, was very friendly, detailed, and accommodating. During the decision making process, Stephen did hesitate to respond to everyone's questions as well as the several text messages I sent him with additional questions. Horrible customer service. The salesman, George makes all of the promises in the world to get you to sign a contract then tacks on extra charges at the end. When I asked why, he puts it in writing...why do you care the insurance company is covering it, I don't understand the problem. Per the contract, I should have received pictures of the replaced wood, which was not offered. George was only around to get the contract and collect the money. Subcontractors came out to perform the work and left debris all over my yard which flew in my trees. They left one of the gutters hanging from my house for 4 days. I was told they would come back one day and no one showed, not even a courtesy call. I had to call the company to get someone out to finish the job after being no showed for 2 days. The aluminum top coat was not put on my flat roof and I only discovered that after being told the job was completed but the unused bucket was tucked behind one of my bushes. No one checked the quality of the work before looking to collect until after I complained. They had not replaced a portion of my gutters for the addition on my house but I received a call saying that it had been completed, while I was outside looking at my old gutter with rusted nails. The old satellite dish that I asked to be removed was screwed back onto my roof. After I asked for it to be removed, it was made out to be a mistake on my part for not taking off work again to micromanage their subcontractors. I was referred to this company by a friend and even referred a friend as well prior to all of this happening. Very disappointed in the quality of work from such a well-known company. I wasn't going to add this but when mentioned this to George he almost laughed at me as if i had a reason to make it up...one of the workers that was there with whom I will assume was his wife, was hugging and kissed as I walked out my back door while on the job. I have pictures to prove the mishaps unfortunately. I had high hopes but had a bad experience. read more

They did an excellent job of putting on roofing, vinyl siding and gutters. After 7 years had a few problems with defective bolts holding holding gutter hangers.Even though gutters are no longer under warranty they sent a worker out to replace them with better quality bolts. Can not verify the quality of their work. I did call them for an estimate and one day later at 9:45 pm an estimator called. We agreed on an appointment for the next day at around 3:30 pm. He did not show up or call back to reschedule. At first I thought the 9:45 pm call was unusual for making a business call, but I'm an old timer used to business call coming at a normal hour. But I thought this is the new millennium and business etiquette has changed over time. With a later than usual call and a missed appointment with no follow up, I'm thinking they are too busy for my residential one story ranch house. To each his own, but a business that fumbled the appointment process was too much to consider a follow up call on my part. I have many thoughts on what the service may be...I just could not take the chance. read more

Nombach replaced my large scupper bucket and downspout. The old one was made of steel and had rusted through in several places. Mark from Nombach came to check things out, explained everything to me, and was patient while I asked him a bunch of other roofing/building related questions (some of which weren't related at all to possible jobs and yet he still helped me out). The only downside was that we confirmed the job in late November but it wasn't completed until late Feb or early March. They warned me at the time it would take 1-2 months and possibly longer. Partly just unlucky because the weather made it difficult and that was the busy time of the year for them. They were good about communication-- someone called me every few weeks to let me know they hadn't forgotten about me. When it got done, they finished it in one day as promised. Nombach did an amazing job replacing my 130 years old leaking bended gutters that's 3 stories high. Cliff came out gave me a quote on the spot which many other companies failed to do. The crew headed by foreman Jerry came up with creative solutions to address the challenge. Apparently one side of the gutter was too close to the neighbor's building that no one was able to access with the needed equipment. Until of cause Nombach showed up! I didn't understand why hardly anybody called me back after the initial appointment. I thought it must be too small a job nobody wanted. How wrong I was!
