I hired Kenny to build a roof deck for me. He agreed, in writing, on several occasions to secure permits. When the deck was complete he asked for final payment. I showed him all the correspondence between us where I made it clear before, during and after the job that permits needed to be part of it. When I made it clear I wouldn't make the final 1/3rd payment, he said "I have done tons of decks and never get a permit." He then agreed to come and demo/uninstall the work he did and never came back to do that. I am out $20,000 and had to demo the work myself and start over with a new contractor. I would never trust him again as he looked me straight in the face and lied on multiple occasions and I believed each time. I even gave him 3 leads on new jobs while my deck was being constructed. We Paid Kenny E. K E ROOFING & Construction $3300.00 for chimney Tuckpointing,roof leak repair and a chimney cap, they did not secure the chimney cap on the chimney and it fell off I contacted Kenny he stated he would be very busy the next several days and wouldn't be able to come until Saturday 02/17/2024 I called him back several times that day and my call went straight to voicemail. My husband called him and he told my husband the same thing he wouldn't be able to come out until the earliest Saturday 2/17/2024 so we ended up having to call a different roofing company which is well established with great reviews and listed with the Better Business Bureau. to get the chimney cap secured on. They informed us that the Tuckpointing that we paid for was not done correctly. Situation: getting water in bedroom with flat roof with deck above the leaking section (corner of the room getting water, above is the edge of the deck) The good: we called, they came out the next day. Apologized on text after I said "no one talks to me the way you guys did". The bad: quite aggressive. Use loud voices. And use words like "you definitely have mold" - we don't . Had a mold specialist out, per him it takes years for water to turn to mold but they scared the crap out of me - I was clear, leak only in winter, stated last March. Has been patched and dried... On the actual inspection of roof - no one got down to see the problem areas. No one took pictures. Only thing we were told is you need a new roof. Some of my favorite quotes "I'm not even looking at anything until you take the deck off". "Im not even gonna try give you a patch estimate.". Kenny never measured where the leak was and what was directly above and if they could find a cause. Different roofing company came after - got down on their hands and knees after measuring where the leak was..."shockingly " found it accessible without taking off the deck. Found an inch long hole, right by the gutter exiting. Patched that area and a couple other potential areas (no deck above affected area) for $150. We poured some water up there, and used a moisture meter...seeems it's fixed. Moral: you need a new roof, ok great. But that's all these folks are interested in. Our condo association had Kenny's team replace the flat roof on our building. We received several quotes and liked Kenny's responsiveness to our many questions, his reasonable pricing, and extended warranty compared to others. The new roof was installed in about three days which included the complete tear off with removal of a rooftop deck and new waterproofing and weep ropes under the limestone caps. The team was very quick and hard working. Several weeks after the new roof was installed we noticed a spot where a more than normal amount of water was pooling up after the rain. We let Kenny know and he had a couple guys come to buildup the spot so the water would flow to the downspouts. Kenny was extremely responsive both when scheduling a roof estimate, and during the project. I had some soft spots in my roof and he gave me very reasonable options for both patching and a full replacement. I ended up going with the replacement but did not feel like he was selling me one way or the other unlike what some companies may do. Since the roof belonged to an HOA instead of just me, it took a while to get the go ahead for the work, but once I did, Kenny came out that same afternoon to take measurements, and his crew started the very next day. They were efficient and completed the work over 3 days due to weather delays. It started raining midway through the replacement, but they went above and beyond to make sure the roof was at least water proof during the bad weather. I have a bug screen on my door to the roof which was damaged by the crew, and they moved a small electrical fixture which they did not put back, but I texted Kenny with pictures and he was out early the next morning to fix the screen and fixture himself. Overall, I can't recommend Kenny enough. I called around to all the top rated roofers, but he stands out in professionalism and efficiency even more than larger companies. Our condo building needed to replace the flat roof on our building and the pitched roof on our garage, and add gutters / downspouts to our garage. We reached out to 12 highly rated roofers and evaluated each based on whether or not (1) they could speak to us at our level (really, what do we know about roofs?), (2) they could remain patient and courteous despite our excessive and, I'm sure, annoying questions, and (3) they could provide an estimate promptly and at a reasonable price. We figured if a prospective contractor couldn't communicate in a way we could understand or exhibited any impatience during our search, it was going to be an unpleasant experience once we signed a contract. Kenny knocked it out of the park in all 3 areas. Prior to contacting roofers, we hired a building inspector who advised us of the key improvements we needed with a new flat roof. Unlike most roofers we spoke to and without prompting, Kenny recommended almost all of the same improvements that should be part of our new roof. Kenny warned us of likely issues that would be discovered when the old roof was removed, identified how he would charge if the extra work was excessive, showed us the extent of the extra work while he was removing the old roof, and added the agreed-on amount for the extra work. That add-on amount was far less than other roofers indicated their expected add-on charges would be. Finally, throughout the roof work, Kenny did some extra unrelated work we needed done around our building and included them as part of the original roof pricing. Kenny was hired to repair my roof on June 20th & 21st ,2022. He offered a 5 year warranty with this repair. The first time it rained after the "repair" there was still a leak. Kenny was called and came out and "repaired" it again. The leak still occurred the next time it rained. Kenny was called again and said that he would come out again. That was the end of July.
