Small local spot to get high quality sushi for affordable prices. After a few times of ordering sushi platters to go, they've consistently had the same quality even though the prices have gone up a little throughout COVID. I usually call earlier in the day for pick up for later but on Mother's day I called the day before. I'm glad I did because I could not get through at all. Each time I picked up a platter, I was given soy sauce, chopsticks, and little cups for the sauce. The cut of their sashimi is thicker and the rolls were generous. The platters were nicely plated and definitely gram worthy. I know some places provide ice to keep the sushi cold, but this place does not. We got the salmon combo lunch & the sashimi, sushi, roll lunch (with a spicy salmon roll substituted for the cali roll). Our total came out to be around $33 which is pretty reasonable. Our lunch also came with miso soup! The rice was seasoned well and the fish tasted fresh. Nothing was overly fishy tasting! For me the sushi had just the right amount of rice while my boyfriend thought there needed to be more. The sushi pieces are on the smaller size but the rolls were decently portioned. I definitely prefer this place over Yoi's sushi. The only thing is this place closes pretty early for us, we like to eat our dinners rather late so I wish it was open later. So tonight I decided I was going to get sushi, my pregnant wife can't eat sushi at the moment but she's going out with her girl friend for dinner and I was eating alone tonight. Anyways, after the gym I stopped by asking if they accepted card. I did not have any cash at time so I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask, so I stuck my head in and they said card was okay. I placed my order and less than 10mins my order was ready. I asked for a side of Korean red pepper sauce for the sashimi and he threw in the big size. Thank you! Got home, immediately laid my food out, took a photo and went to town. The sashimi is very fresh, each slice was a generously cut and smelled/tasted amazing. I usually go big and order the small special roll platter, but recently a bunch of friends were over and we ordered the XL and a sushi and roll XL platter and everything was so delicious! We killed both platters in about 15 minutes; it was probably the most quiet everyone has been when we were hovered over the food stuffing our faces. The agreed upon favorite was the Manhattan roll and then Pink Boy roll. Every order comes with some miso soup in a cup too! They are currently not offering indoor dining unfortunately but my sushi is always made on time and ready to be picked up. The crazy roll is the best shrimp tempura roll with a heap of kani (imitation crab meat) salad on top. For a party, I will order the XL 140-piece sushi and it will feed a crowd of 8-10 with additional dishes. My favorite is the $55 sashimi sushi platter without tuna (used to be $45). And I'm not one to eat or like sashimi much but let me tell you, the sashimi freaking melts in your goddamn mouth! Need I say more? I'm more of a non-authentic aka super-saucy-handrolls-with-some-crazy-name type of person but the sashimi is so fresh that i can eat a lot. I prefer the Korean style sashimi, meaning served with cho jang (the red pepper pasty sauce) and they do serve cho jang here. With that said, of course gotta get me some hand rolls. I've tried a number of different rolls but can't entirely remember the names the pink boy, king dragon, amongst others. I should have known that $46 for the advertised 36 pieces of sashimi, 9 pieces of sushi, and an 8 piece spicy salmon roll (subbed for the California roll for $1 extra) would be an outrageous deal--hence the literal slivers of fish that passed for sashimi. The platter itself did look nice, thanks to the mound of radish propping up the fish, the heaps of wasabi and pickled ginger, and the hilariously huge halved lemon (??) To be fair, the amount of fish was overall adequate, and the platter is still a fairly good deal for the price. The sashimi was passably fresh, although some of the nigiri was a little suspect and the spicy salmon roll was downright odd--hunks of salmon in kani salad, which I have never seen before). A lot of people come here for sushi because they are very good. But during this pandemic I'm very disappointed to see one of the guys making the sushi with his mask down to his chin. Then the guy who was in the register had to go out so when the phone rang, the same guy who had his mask on his chin answered the phone and went back making sushi without changing his gloves. The guy who went outside came back and didn't wash his hands nor use hand sanitizer but started putting soup in the cups. Sorry, but no matter how good your sushis are, I don't think I will be returning to this place anymore.
