Love everything I got from here today. I got shoyu poke, spicy poke, sashimi, and ahi katsu. Everything Was soooo ahhhhmazingly fresh and good. I want to give 10 stars for this place, but too bad highest is 5. I have read great reviews and wanted to try it for the longest time. Today I got lucky. Ahi katsu was fried to perfection. Sauce was delicious and ahi was so fresh it didn't taste like I was eating a fish as it didn't have any fishy taste to it. Soooooo tender and delicious. Uncle Ken's is a staple for folks on this side. Ahi katsu plate is the standard order (choose medium or well for the ahi; katsu = panko crusted for the visitor's who don't know bout that). There's other styles preparing the fish, there's also fish tacos, etc. All are good. Pay attention to the hours cuz they are limited. No more phone orders, Uncle had too many folks not pick up or give him trouble so you need to come in and order. Wait times are quick unless you see a big crowd standing around our front, then expect 15-20 mins. Usually they have ahi & mahimahi for the fish options, but once in a while they get monchong. If they have monchong on the menu, get it. There's usually dry aku or cookies on the counter. Don't forget to check out the cold storage, that is where you can grab spicy ahi poke, ocean salad, and more. Treat Uncle Ken with respect, he runs a good, clean, 'ono business. People do dumb stuff trying to park or pull out over there, so try not to be those people doing dumb stuff and jamming up the parking lot or the highway. Just be patient, and if you're not familiar with the area park on the far sides so you have more room & clear views when you're coming and going. read more

Hands down best value and possibly one of the best ahi katsu on the island. The size of fresh ahi they serve would cost the same in the store for a raw piece let alone an incredible plate that would cost $30 in a resturaunt and would be half the size. When we arrived in the area, we sat down & ate with a local at Papa Ole's (which was great as well). He told us another of his favorite places is Ken's and gave us directions & times. We arrived the next day and there he was! We loved the food! The poke is very fresh & the katsu was great - hot, crispy, light. The service was friendly, caring & accommodating. Things were so good that we had to eat here twice more while we were still in town, even delaying our departure a few hours just so we could! I hesitate posting this review for fear that they won't be able to keep up with the demand. You arrive and notice it's a takeaway food spot- Ken's family is all cooking, there isn't really anywhere to sit and it's normally fairly crowded. They take the order briskly, no small talk: tell me what you want. But the food is incredible! The ahi katsu is as good as it gets, flavors are amazing. Remember that's it's only open on Friday and Saturday for now, but I've been told they are planning to turn it into a restaurant in the near future. read more

Recommend calling ahead to confirm hours of operation as days and hours vary -- Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 11-4 at the time of this review.
