    Chicken sandwich + crazy fries
    Payton S.

The food here was probably our favorite during our entire week here in Hawaii....so much so, we came back to have our last dinner here before we fly out tomorrow. Blue, our server, was so personable & we enjoyed getting to visit with him.

I ordered the vegetarian sandwich (switched out with buns) and it was so flavorful. It came with fresh avocados, lettuce, pineapple slices and a fried onion ring. I'm used to some sort of vege meat. This one did not come with one but I absolutely loved it. It was so filling and unique. I even forgot about the homemade sauce. Service was friendly and quick. Loved the casual Hawaiian vibe. Thanks for the vege option so I can come here with my meat-loving friends.

Seven Brothers was such a great find! We were looking for a late-night dinner spot, and there really aren't many places open late on the North Shore. We stumbled across this burger spot without expecting much, but wow everything was SO good. Definitely be aware of the burger sizes because they are massive! The fries and house sauce were absolutely phenomenal too. The vibe is super chill and laid-back, the staff is incredibly nice, and the food is seriously delicious. I would absolutely recommend this place and would 100% come back!

    Grilled Ahi Plate

I loved my lunch plate here! I ordered the grilled ahi plate, with a side of onion rings. Food came out fresh and piping hot, the wait went by quickly. There was easy seating available. Service was very friendly and attentive. Only downside was the feral cat and chicken, but that's to be expected! I will be back!

Absolutely delicious food! My husband usually prefers sit down dinning but it smelled so good, we decided to try. I got the grilled shrimp platter and my husband got the coconut macadamia nut shrimp platter. It came with a very fresh salad with dried cranberries and a lite dressing. Even the rice was shockingly good! We also got the Paniolo fries. We were so impressed that we are already planning to go back to the North Shore just to eat there again.

Stopped by Seven Brothers on a Saturday around noon and it wasn't busy at all. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and our food came out in less than 10 minutes. They give you table marker and bring the food out to you. We ordered the Teri Chicken Sandwich, the Shem, Seek's Deep Blue, and home fries. The buns are soft potato buns. We do wish they were buttered and lightly toasted for a little extra texture and flavor, but even without that, everything was still very good. The chicken sandwich was crispy and juicy. To give you an idea of the flavor mix, the Teri sauce reminded me of Yoshida Sauce and the garlic aioli was similar to the garlic parm sauce you get at Buffalo Wild Wings. One thing to note -- the burgers come as singles by default, but you can order them as doubles. We actually thought the bread-to-meat ratio was better as a single. It's very filling as is! If you're extra hungry, adding the second patty might be the move, but the single definitely satisfies. The burgers can get pretty messy, but there are plenty of napkins at the table. The home fries were soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. We felt they were just slightly too salty, but they paired really well with the house sauce (which you can grab yourself near the utensils and drink station). There's plenty of seating both inside and outside, and the whole place has a very laid-back North Shore vibe. Overall, a solid stop if you're in Kahuku and craving a hearty burger.

    Max Burger and Onion Rings

I can't believe I'm gonna say this and I reserve the right to change my mind BUT! Seven Brothers MIGHT be my favorite burger I've ever had?!? Objectively I cannot think of another burger that challenges it and this is a burger I won't forget. Tucked away in Oahu's North Shore SBs is the anchor stop for Kahuku's Food Truck village. Here you will find a plethora of options but this burger is a MUST but then so are the fries OMG the FRIES!!! The order today was the MAX burger even though I wanted to try several others. I was attracted to the grilled onions and bacon with the Mac sauce and I was not disappointed! Burger was cooked perfect, cheese melted, but it was the Portuguese sweet bun that was my favorite part soaking in all the juices. Now let's talk about the Paniolo Fries! These fries go off with grilled pineapple, caramelized onions, melted cheese, BBQ sauce, house sauce, and topped off with two homemade onion rings. This could be a meal by itself and while I fought the eye test that these are breakfast home fries, the first bite had my eyes roll back into my cranium! As for the atmosphere, it's as simple as it gets. Mostly you'll find community picnic tables and a small covered eating area which doesn't help on those flash rainfalls. Bathrooms are an adventure but available...on the premises...if you can find it...and remember the code. The service at the counter was full of aloha and good debate on football. I want afraid of offering suggestions and opinions, clearly proud of the product! At the End of the Day I looked immediately to see if they have locations on the main shore and was ecstatic to find out they have three locations in AZ! Might need to look at opening a franchise on the Westside of Phoenix!

They're located at Kahuku Sugar Mill next to the food trucks. It's a cute restaurant with open outdoor seating. You order at the counter and they'll give you a number thing and will bring your food to wherever you choose to sit. We wanted to sit outside but the chickens were attacking and fighting for our food :'( they literally jumped onto our table ... so we moved inside lol. The Shez Paniolo was huge! It came with two onion rings and pineapple. Beef patty had a nice smoke flavor. We also ordered a side of onion rings and paniolo. Highly recommend Paniolo; it came with crispy fries (looks like thinly sliced potatoes), bbq sauce and onion rings. I thought food was good. A few ppl in my group thought the burger patty was kind of dry. The decor was cute and beach themed. Overall, customer service was friendly when we were ordering. I noticed a few workers were going around checking on folks and having long conversations but they didn't come to us so whatever. They have clean bathrooms in the back. Plenty of parking available!

Okay what in the burger-loving hell??? AMAZING!

What could you possibly say here? What reason could anyone have for not 5 starring this place? DID YOU SEE THE SIZE OF MY BURGER? And the beautiful place I had to eat said burger??? And the kindest person taking my order? Go here. Eat. Enjoy.

This review is for the seven Brothers mom's bakery. Beware of the free samples, one bite, and *BAM!*. They've got you. I was just walking around, and I walked past the bakery, and the lady, so innocently walked up, and said, "would you like a sample of our banana bread? Sure. Sure enough, they got me. It was so tender and delicious! I head inside, they have a nice selection of baked goods, but I went right for the banana bread. I joked with the lady that they got me because of the sample, and she smiled and said, yup! For a huge hunk of banana bread, it was only 10 bucks. It was so soft and moist, the banana flavor is delicious, and it has just a little bit of chocolate also, which offsets the banana so wonderfully well. There was also coconut and just a little bit of frosting on top as well. Ono!! The slice she gave me was so big, I brought it back to my hotel, and I could only finish half of it. That's fine, the other half was saved for later. I knew that was going to happen, that's why I asked her to cut it in half, which she did The next time I'm up on the North Shore, I will have to stop here again. Thank you!

    Paniolo Hand-cut Fries
    Steve S.

After a day in the sun and enjoying the beautiful blue waters of Oahu, on the way back to Waikiki Beach from the North Shore, 2 hungry souls found their way to a yelp-recommended food spot. This brick and mortar cafe is located in an area surrounded by 20 some food trucks with different kinds of food. Seven Brothers, however, stood above the rest. I was greeted by a nice young lady at the counter, who was more than happy to tell me about their best and most popular items. The Paniolo burger was recommended and this is exactly what my wife and I got. As a side, we got the Paniolo fries-- a hand cut fries that came with caramelised onions and cheez't and was incredibly delicious. We sat down at their open air patio and there came the main event -- the Paniolo Burger. Even though I got it with a single patty, it was still the largest burger I've ever held or tasted. The grass-fed, no hormones patty was topped with crispy bacon, onion rings and pineapple. The house sauce and bbq sauce were applied on top. I'm not sure how the bun even held all of this goodness together. The first bite was very special. As I bit into it, I felt the freshness of the ingredients and it hit an array of flavor notes, from savory coming from beef patty and bacon to some sweet notes coming from onion rings and the ripe pineapple slice. Juices were dripping into my mouth and I enjoyed every moment of it. The marriage of crispy texture of bacon and tender juicy texture of the beef patty, added the beautiful complexity to the already impressive plethora of flavors of the burger. Bravo, the Seven Brothers team! You've cracked the code for great food and amazing customer service. Next time when in the area, I'm definitely switching by!

He relented and agreed to stop by Crouching Lion after Roy's just to get the bug out of his system, since we've both never been to the original Crouching Lion, now with a new owner after 2020. We have both never been to Roy's Beach House or Lion before, good thing we came here first (read my dismal review for C.L.)! I warned him that it was going to be expensive here, with some reviewers reporting $160 for lunch (thank you to those who mention the price, which I find is sorely lacking in reviews lately - guess everyone's a millionaire and price doesn't matter). RESERVATIONS: We didn't make any via Open Table (not my favorite platform). We were able to get a seat at opening time of 1130 AM on a Saturday in Sept. Less than 10 minutes wait. Judging by the outfits of everyone before us, they just stepped off the beach or casually sauntered in. PARKING: on the grounds of the Turtle Bay Ritz-Carlton. Valet park with validation or find parking in the lot, which is free (beach access) and walk a short distance. Roy's is not inside the hotel itself, but a free-standing business off to the side, right on the beach. AMBIANCE: Beach vibes with shorts and T shirts. We wore aloha attire because it was our special day. Open air dining with umbrellas or indoor patio dining to open air. Loved the ocean breezes from our beach-front view. Live music which was very good added to the tropical ambiance! SERVICE: Wells was our server, 5-star all the way!! We mentioned it was our anniversary and at the end she brought out a scoop of sherbet with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate in Hawaiian, too cool!! All of the other servers were very attentive, waters refilled, used dishes removed promptly. Never a wait for anything. DRINKS: all excellent!! Habanero Margarita ($18 - 4/5 buzz rating): I don't balk at the prices of cocktails anymore, since it's the standard to pay crazy prices. This one was worth it, super smooth, spicy as heck (your choice of habanero, japapeno or chipotle), great taste, super fresh drink. Yummy! Roy's Beach House so far has the highest buzz rating of any restaurant I've been (except for Cheeky Tiki in Kona and ), and it's not only the empty stomach talking either. Their stuff is quality. Pineapple Infused Martini ($18 - 4/5 buzz rating): Fresh pineapples sitting in vodka for 10 days, mixed up and chilled w/ other ingredients, amazing! My husband ordered this and I got a sip, which was super delicious. Roy's signature are the infused pineapples, which I have seen at other locations. Nice. APPETIZERS: Calamari ($25): our least favorite thing here. Breaded in mochiko and deep fried. Teeny tiny pieces, with a white aioli sauce. Disappointing for the price, will skip this if we ever come back. Go to Haleiwa Beach House for the best calamari, hands down! The white sauce was also blah. Haleiwa Beach House serves their deep fried, meaty calamari with a spicy nuoc cham sauce, which I love. Fish Tacos - two pieces ($20): our favorite appetizer, as recommended by Wells, and some passing wait staff. Delicious, fresh!! Both were on a flour tortilla with fresh veggies and catch of the day (swordfish). Very light, not very filling but loved it. We are still craving this. MAINS: Lobster Roll ($40): My husband's order. I tried a bite, very delicious! Side of thick-cut fries. The roll was not very greasy, which was nice. More lobster than bread, which was a nice touch. Medium sized. Misoyaki Glazed Salmon ($36): Namul vegetables, wasabi butter and black rice. Very nice dish with a medium-portioned size of Salmon fillet, which was cooked just right and very delicious. PRICE: Total Cost before tip: $195 (rounded up). If you're trying to add up from what we ordered above, don't...we ordered more drinks! RETURN FACTOR: Will definitely come back for drinks and the fish tacos, will skip the calamari next time.

You do get a decent amount even with the both of us eating it. It was very filling. It's amazing every time we go there there's always several happy people who are very friendly to talk to, and that's one of the reasons why the bar is a wonderful place for both locals and tourists to enjoy. Although I haven't eaten at the restaurant recently, I do remember when I did try the restaurant the food was very well prepared and seasoned just right. I think maybe next we come here we gotta try out their food menu!

Meh. I feel like the quality of Mike's has gone downhill…read more I stopped by yesterday during a trip to the North Shore to get some lunch. I got the #9 plate, which is kalua pork, huli chicken, and I got mac salad. The kalua pork meat itself was fine. Not gristly and not too fatty. However, barely any smoke taste to it and was fairly bland. The huli chicken didn't have crispy skin. It seemed lukewarm like it had been cooked a while earlier and was just sitting. The sauce is amazing and I do think it's delicious with the sauce. Rice was just rice. Meh. Even adding shoyu didn't add much flavor to it, to be honest. The mac salad is extremely bland. I don't know if they need to add some acid to the mayonnaise or more salt, but it was pasty and no flavor. I would honestly skip getting the mac salad next time and get regular salad! That's how bad this mac salad was. Two slices of pineapple on the plate were fresh and flavorful. I did enjoy these. Service was okay. I had asked if they still honored kama'aina discount and was told no. That's fine; I understand not all places offer discounts. I don't know when kama'aina discount stopped being offered, but back in the day I used to receive it when asking. I did notice though that two guys who ordered before me got a "mahalo, braddah" in a friendly tone but I got a terse "thanks." Guess haole girls don't get mahalos even if local. It's just uncomfortable when certain people get friendly, effusive mahalos and others get terse thanks, like I didn't want to be serving you food today. Maybe cause it was Mother's Day and they didn't want to be there? Sure didn't feel like 'ohana today. So many flies around, it made eating uncomfortable. A few fly fans on tables but not at the one where I was seated, so it was basically like constantly shooing away flies and trying to take a bite of food super fast before they came back on my food. Probably I should have taken my food away and gone to the beer garden nearby with fewer flies. Meh. I used to really like Mike's but I will stick to Da Bald Guy and Seven Brothers when I visit the sugar mill in the future.

Definitely worth stopping in at Seven Brothers Restaurant and or the bakery as well. Back to Mikes, You'll walk up and spot signage plus the yellow signature bus shack. I'd seen Mikes Huli Chicken on an episode of Diners Drive Ins and Dives and Guy said "the skin is as crispy as it gets next to being fried." That never left my memory. This being my next visit since seeing that episode, I had to try it. What did I order? - Mikes Huli Chicken Plate $17: 4/5 Stars - Chicken is a nice half chicken portion, perfectly juicy, nicely slight char taste. Crispy skin? Unfortunately no. - The Mac salad is nice. - Generous serving of rice *** Mikes Huli sauce is delicious! Be sure to find the self serve bottle and the to go sauce cups and get you some extra. You'll walk up and place your order at the window, pay, cash or card, then find yourself a seat. The cashier was simple and quick to the point. No small talk. The seating area within mikes truck is a decent size accommodating roughly 15 to 20 people. Outside, there additional tables as well. Overall, I'd say if you're in the area, give it a try, it will neither blow your socks off nor disappoint. Mikes is a solid Huli Chicken plate. It simply delivers satisfying meal.
