In the sleepy town of Laie on the North Shore of Oahu, my son and I stopped into Seven Brothers to try their signature burger and fries. We were welcomed into the small hole-in-the-wall restaurant in a neighborhood strip mall by a young woman named Telani. Telani could not have been more excited to tell us everything there was to know about the entire menu and the history of the family who owned it. Telani was so genuinely interested in us and asked question after question that made us feel like we were celebrities that had just walked into a small town diner. Telani is the star of this story, but I want to mention that the other two employees left a positive impression as well, amazing service is clearly a culture at this restaurant. Our shake took a little longer than usual because they were accommodating a young boy with a severe peanut allergy. At the end of our meal, Telani walked over and handed us a personalized postcard that she had written to commemorate our visit! This 17-year-old medical student at BYU Hawaii just put my own customer service expectations to absolute shame. I cannot wait to get back to my hotel staff and share this story and hopefully inspire them to start writing some postcards of their own. I've just finished writing one of my own. P.S. All the food was AMAZING! We got the Shez's paniolo burger, the Sterlings teriyaki burger, the paniolo fries, the banana bread, and a vanilla shake with Nutella and Oreo. We were 4th in line (basically out the door, people behind us looked at the line and left) and the people at the front were just chatting with the cashier. They haven't even ordered yet and it had already been over 5 minutes since we walked in. This is so disappointing because I would expect the cashier to see the line and get the customers ordering quickly to get to the next people. They were literally losing customers while servicing one. I get that they want to be friendly and make connections but it should not take more than 5 minutes per transaction. It wasn't even a "here's what people like to order" but a full on getting to know you conversation. Maybe have training again on how to connect with customers but also quickly get them ordered so the line doesn't grow too long. We were seriously annoyed when it finally came time to order. He didn't even acknowledge that we waited for a long time and acted like nothing happened. We ordered our food and asked for it to go. Took a while for it to come out and we even had to ask for a bag so we could take it out of the store and eat at home. Maybe I would be less annoyed if they had compensated for the long wait time with an order of fries or something. The burgers were pretty good but wasn't enough to console my irritation of the encounter. I would say this isn't a usual situation but every time we come to this location, something has happened where it puts us off and it takes a while for us to come back and try their burgers again. We hardly come which is disappointing because the burgers are good enough to come back to but the service is not up to par. read more

One of the tour guides from our zip line tour recommended this place and said it was the best burger on the island. While I didn't try every burger on the island, I would agree it's amazing! We had the paniolo burger which was huge and delicious, the onion rings were crispy and not at all soggy even after being on the burger with sauces. The fries are sliced potatoes crisps and so good. Wow. I am still dreaming about those fries... the house sauce, caramelized onions and cheese. Holy moly. And the potatoes themselves were juicy and seasoned perfect! I got the teriyaki chicken sandwich and can't stop thinking about that toasted bun and perfect breading on the chicken!! The service was so friendly and super fast with how busy it was. Not very special. Did try the ahi tuna sandwich...mistake! tasted like boiled tuna and was gray. Servers are very kind and tried to make it right. Burger was ok but nothing to write home about a single smash burger patty where other places at least give you two patties. The BEST burgers on Oahu! Really cool vibe and really nice workers. This location is probably the "least exciting" vibe-wise: it's in a strip mall in Laie. The food is still amazing though. The massive Paniolo burger with two onion rings, pineapple, cheese, BBQ sauce, and more is a fat bomb but 100% worth it. Add mushrooms for $1.50 (I think) to add even more decadence. They have ice cream but it's just okay. They also have Seagram's ginger ale in the soda dispenser which was different. read more

Banana bread and that soft baked chocolate chip cookie with the sea salt!!!!! Brahhhhh I get chicken skin just writing about it right now. Took us a while to try this place and we're glad we finally did. When we walked in, we were greeted by a smiling face. She took our order and even gave us some recommendations after asking if it was our first time. We ordered burgers, fries, and milkshakes. The burgers were big and very filling. My daughter got the kids burger and it came with fries and a drink. Burger was the same size as mine. The buns on the burgers were super soft and that sauce was amazing!! Great burgers at a good value. The fries are delicious, especially with the fry sauce. You have to wait a bit for the burgers (maybe 15 mins) but that's what you'd expect for freshness. The restaurant is clean and small, but just fine for a Tuesday early afternoon. Staff was friendly and attentive. They do a great job of living up to the values of care and graciousness. Moving Testimony: My wife and I came here for our 15 year anniversary. We have 4 children and a very comfortable life. When we got there they have a simple menu. Not too crowded with options. 7 burgers named after 7 brothers I suppose? We ordered the large crazy fries, Spencer burger, and the Shem burger. Best burgers and fries I've had on the island. But it wasn't their food that caught our interest. It was the values and family they built this restaurant on. After a day of exploring the north shore, my wife and I were getting a bit hungry. It was well after noon, and we didn't want to spoil our dinner, we decided to share a teriyaki burger and fries. Though it wasn't all that busy, the staff was lively and enjoying their day. It was contagious. Happy staff often leads to great food quality and it was true in this case. I judge a burger partly in the number of napkins needed. I think we used about ten! Truly a great burger, with the fresh veggies and the ripe pineapple as well as the teriyaki... so good. Yes, the meat tasted good too. The fries were also excellent, sort of like really thick potato chips, only soft and pliable. Definitely a must anytime you are near one of their locations. read more

The restaurant is a walk up and order and then find a booth type place. I have never had a burger with such a complex flavor profile. I had half of a Shem and half of the Sterlings Teriyaki. We went here in 2021 and loved the burgers so when we returned in 2024 it was on our short list to do immediately. The place has not changed, although maybe the tables looked newer. The food is still outstanding. In 2021 I had one of the best burgers of my life in the "Deep Blue" and I had the same this time. I stand by my previous assessment. Great flavors that meld together, good quality meat, great bun, it is close to perfection as far as burgers go. The wife had the Max and loved it. It is basically a mushroom burger and everything was excellent, very flavorful. You order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. We went during an off hour so we did not wait long for our food. There are some cool pictures and videos of the North Shore which give the place a beach vibe. Onion rings with the creamy sauce just felt right. Jalepenos for the acidity and extra kick. Bed of fresh lettuce. Patty coming in with that grilled flavor and texture. Its quite alright. I came here on the recommendation of a friend and was happy I did. Cute little family owned restaurant in a strip mall. Feels very laid back and I love the beach/surfer decor. Staff was friendly and helpful. But the real star of this place was the burger we had. My girlfriend put it well when she said sometimes burgers are heavy, but this burger was not heavy and still very flavorful. We had the Seek's Deep Blue and onion rings. Both were perfectly cooked. I especially loved the panko style onion rings which had the perfect crisp without being overcooked.
