Laos khaopoon on left Kao soi on thr right. Delicious
    Steven Y.

Very good and authentic. A must try when visiting Oahu. Love the Kao soi and the Laos Khaopoon.

One of the best chicken Banh Mi I have ever had. Perfect ratios of meat, sauce, and vegetables! The bread and all ingredients were delicious and fresh. Best meal we had on the north shore/windward side.

Awesome food and great portions. I have missed authentic Asian flavors and this place delivers. I would recommend the basil chicken.

Honestly, I wish they had a more healthier…read moreand safe location like somewhere with no shishi smell, like outside of Chinatown or something lol but oh well. It is what it is. Their restaurant is so cool tho. Upon walking in, you sign in if needed, wait to be seated. As you walk in, there's a pretty decor, I would say photo opp, but there's a table and stuff blocking. They should clear that area, so people can take pictures with it lol but when you get seated, you walk through, and they take you to the back for outdoor seating. There is no indoor seating. They have the commercial tents, and pretty outdoor decor out there too, like lights and stuff. And there's a koi pond. Bathroom is back there. The only sucky part is if it was to rain hard or have strong winds, I wonder how they deal with that. But make sure you go when it's nice weather. It's BYOB!! They have a good amount of seating too. Our go to for Olay's is the Lao style papaya salad. We eat it with chicharon, and I think they have option to order a side chicharon, but we were prepared and went store before heading over to buy bag chicharon and they allowed it for us instead of spending the same amount for a handful, you get more when you BYOBC - bring your own bag chicharon lol I just made that up. If it's BYOB, I'm sure they'll allow it. We eat that with sticky rice. Omg so bomb. I like to get the stuffed chicken wings, we ordered the calamari. Was good. We got yellow chicken curry. The wife wanted to try the beef jerky, she likes it. We take the sticky rice and roll it in to a ball, and dip it in the bagooong papaya salad sauce and even the curry. Eat it with the papaya salad and stuffed chicken!! Omg so good! One thing I forgot to mention, they are located in the heart of Chinatown, on hotel street, so you gotta find parking. Street parking or pay for public parking. Would we come here again, definitely! 10/10 recommend. Check out Olay's for your Lao food fix!

The sauce has great flavor, I wanted to bring it home, but my son finished it all, even the sauce! Thai Tea - 4 stars - strong with a charcoal flavor. My son loves it but too sweet for me. Service - 5 stars - waters filled, waiter was great. However, they do charge 3% fee for using credit card. Parking - lots of parking in the back on the second floor if full in front. I do not recommend parking in the lower 1st floor parking lot where the bars are even if it is shaded.

Cheun Wea was great reviews and they have a great authentic looking selection. They're located in the Maunakea Market food court and they might be the only Thai/Lao place there. When I go to this food court, I usually am there for Maguro Bros, but I was on the hunt for Lao sausage and Maguro Bros was closed anyway. The shared space is honestly a little claustrophobic for me. And there are some interesting smells. I prefer to eat outside or take my food to go, which isn't a problem. I stood at the counter for a bit before the nice lady worker acknowledged me. She called me sister lol. I asked for a sausage and a side of sticky rice. It was $7 and came in a ziploc bag. It was the perfect light lunch. The sausage was a bit spicy, but it was really good. I also got a mango sticky rice, which was affordable and delicious. It didn't have any sauce, but that would have made it too messy. It was basically a mango sticky rice musubi. At least that's how I ate it lol. I'll definitely be back for the sausage. Maybe next time I'll try some of the other entree dishes.

With any good Lao/Thai/Cambodian food I look for certain criteria to be met- food should have a good balance of salty, sweet, & spicy. Wherever I travel I always make it a habit to Yelp some good Laotian eats if possible. You can imagine how excited I was to stumble across Cheun Wea Lao Thai Fast Food. I immediately bookmarked and hoped in the car to make my way to Chinatown. As a forewarning this business is located in the food court @ stall #117. Avoid walking around like a crazy person the way I did- this stall can easily get overlooked if you aren't careful. Do not expect to find the "Cheun Wea Lao Thai" signage, all we saw during our visit was "Thai Food". Food for the visit consisted of: Amok- steamed fish curry Lao Style Papaya Salad [extra spicy] Seafood Pad Thai Overall I would rate this visit 3 stars. I get that this is a fast food joint but all the promises of "authentic" Lao food really had me anticipating MORE. Dishes were held back on the spice level and the fermented fishiness that Lao food is known for so it simply didn't hit the spot for me. Maybe the traffic coming through is more Americanized and the business caters to their palate?? Either way, customer service is amazing from the owner & employees. Items are made fresh and are able to be customized to your liking. Definitely worth a try...

The chicken thighs were beautifully seasoned and slightly charred. The meat was cooked all the way through yet still juicy with bone in thigh. The purple sticky rice was perfectly done and I love the texture of sticky rice in general. The plate also came with sliced cucumbers and pickled mustard greens (reminiscent of Vietnamese pickled mustard greens - but in a much more vibrant green color). My favorite part of the meal was the tart and aromatic sauce that came in the meal. If you're not a fan of lime juice and fish sauce, you may want to use sparingly. However, I was thoroughly enjoying the sauce and when accompanied with a bit of the mustard greens, it toned down the sour aspect of the flavor profile. Overall, so delicious and I would love to find them again and enjoy more of their menu items!

Review for Indochine 1938…read more Outstanding food and service undermined by unacceptable cigar smoke exposure. We've dined here 10-12 times over the years (including during COVID) and have always had wonderful experiences--until this visit. First, a high five to the chef, kitchen, servers, and bussers. The food was excellent, our server's recommendations were spot on, and the team is clearly working hard under pressure. Even the manager and host, though overwhelmed, were trying to accommodate. However, the cigar smoke situation is unacceptable in a dining environment. We were offered outdoor seating and immediately encountered active cigar smoking. While it may be noted somewhere on the menu, it is not clearly communicated or reasonably expected, especially for returning guests who have never experienced this here before. Even inside, the layout allows smoke to drift into the dining area. By the end of the evening--and into the next morning--I experienced significant allergy symptoms directly tied to that exposure. As we were leaving, other guests were asking where the smoke was coming from--only to see people actively smoking right at the entrance. This is where ownership needs to step in. For a public-facing restaurant, this raises concerns about guest safety, basic dining standards, and potential compliance with local smoking ordinances. At minimum, there needs to be clear separation, ventilation, and enforcement--especially at the entrance. People can absolutely make their own choices--but guests also deserve to clearly know what they're walking into. If there is going to be active cigar or cigarette smoke as part of the environment, that should be clearly disclosed upfront, not discovered after being seated. For those with allergies, asthma, or sensitivities to smoke--this may not be the right environment, and that's important to know ahead of time. Bottom line: Your staff and kitchen are doing everything right--but they are being undermined by an avoidable environmental issue. We would return--but only if this is addressed.

The vibe is warm and really fits the restaurant's name, with a cozy 1930s feel. And bonus points from me for the comfortable seating--I'm always a fan of a place where you can actually relax and enjoy your meal. Overall, this is definitely one to add to your must-try list.
