The nurses are so rude, they are not helpful or welcoming. I do not recommend if you are Hispanic/ Latino. Worst experience ever.

Was seen right away. 4 nurses were there to start treatment on me. Got me totally taken care of. They were so kind and helpful.from main nurse to respiratory nurse. Of course I was admitted but after 8 or so hours I was still waiting for regular bed. I was told I was probably going to be there in the er all nite. But with the great help from nurses and drs. I was able to go home. Would like to especially thank Jackie for being so nice and helpful to me. She was great! Also Jennifer was so helpful and nice to me. Thank you! read more

Based on a pre-surgery visit (blood work, ekg, etc.), I sat there feeling I was in a third-world country. Think Bolivia. I couldn't believe how dingy the building and room were. The woman taking my blood and applying the ekg electrodes, just inches away from my face, wore her mask below her nose despite the pandemic (this took place in early November, 2021). Her supervisor was in the room with us and said nothing. Fortunately, my surgery was canceled, so I did not need to experience any more of Kent Hospital. read more

look I understand it's flu season and I understand there are ambulances coming in.. however... when your sent to the ER from a walk in clinic that can't treat you.. you patiently wait your turn. four hours in and I ask the triage nurse kim for an update and she was rude unprofessional and not in the right profession. Went to Kent last night do to unbearable stomach pain. Was greeted at the front door by a very professional ER Tech and Rn. I was triaged given an EKG and made it to an exam room within 15 minutes where i was immediately seen by a nurse and doctor. The RN started me on an IV and was seen then by the original DR and anther MD who examined me. They ordered test and pain meds immediately and set up a surgical consult( the only thing I had to wait for) this took some time with all the changes do to COVID-19 . When the surgeon came he also examined me and scheduled my surgery within a couple hours. Without the great team that took care of me today I would still be in excruciating pain. Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, techs and CNA's doing their jobs in this trying time. read more

This place is absolutely terrible. They do not take you or your symptoms seriously. I'm at high risk of a Tia/stroke and felt dizzy and lightheaded, with the onset of a sudden headache. They felt it was appropriate to stick an iv in my arm and then send me back into the waiting room for over four hours without ever being seen once, all the while, taking people who came in long after me (one who was talking to people in the waiting room expressing how he thought he had a broken foot) and never once checking on me or anything. Out of sight, out of mind. If this place doesn't kill you with their treatment, they'll just let you die in the waiting room. When I inquired about this I was told "other people are of higher priority and I could've gone elsewhere." YES!!! A potential broken foot IS DEFINITELY of higher priority than a screening for a TIA (extreme sarcasm) so, I left and went somewhere else. Absolutely HORRENDOUS hospital. If you can make it somewhere else, I highly advise going somewhere else. Let's not forget how they let actor James Woods' brother die in the waiting room some years ago. They've not changed at all. My wife injured her foot one night. We are new in town and it was an emergency. Quick! Where can I bring her?! Oh Kent Hospital is so close! Got there at 10:30 PM and I kid you not we left at 4:30 AM. 3 different people came to see her separately (doctors, nurses, idk) only for each to say you need some stitches. Thanks for the triple assessment, House. You might be thinking "there must have been a lot of people" nope. Two. Two people waiting for 6 hours. This is bizarre to me. I am trying to call the number listed for this hospital. The phone answers "401 care." The first option is for employees, the second option is for outpatient questions, and the 3rd is for people who need behavioral health. No one answers the phone. They ask you to leave a voice mail message or remain on the line where the call will be answered in the order received. When the call is answered she can't state that the number is for Kent Hospital. I have reached the Care New England scheduling department. She has to transfer me to another line to reach the hospital. Why is this the only number I can find for this hospital? I was at Kent Hospital over the Labor Day weekend. The emergency room is a joke they did not check on me I was left alone for several hours by myself. I was supposed to get a stitch in my elbow they never stitched me up they only took x-rays of my injuries and took forever to get back to me with the results. I never leave bad reviews because I just feel bad but people need to know to stay away!! I was in the emergency room of Kent hospital last night and waited a couple hours to get admitted and get blood drawn, fine. But I waited an additional three hours after getting my blood drawn, from 1030pm-2am to get an ultrasound and never got it, which is the most I have ever waited in my entire life of a hospital. I kept asking if something was wrong, why the process was taking so long and no one had any answer besides "I'm not sure". In total I was there from 730pm-3am and didn't get any results. I ended up having to leave on what could be a dangerous medical condition as I had to get to work this morning. The wait times are RIDICULOUS. I also overheard other people complaining about your wait times. My emergency room doctor was great and had great bedside manner, but I heard bad reviews about the hospital and thought I would still go because I'm new to the area and thought maybe they wouldn't be so bad..NOPE they were. I had gone to the imaging center. Refer by a neurologist. The staff is great. Very friendly. Clean and quick service. My nurse was very nice and gentle. I was well taken care of with my EEG Procedure. It is not fun laying there for an hour. I would highly recommend. read more

Dr. Kyle Martin has been AMAZING in the ER with my past experiences. I would give him 5 stars! However, my last experience at Kent ER was absolutely HORRIBLE. My room was so dirty. Four hours to see Dr. Diane Marini who did not believe I have had a life threatening chronic illness my entire life. The way she talked to me was incredibly degrading. She was not willing to listen to my serious concerns and told me that "gas can sometimes be uncomfortable" when I knew something was very wrong. I went to RIH immediately after pulling my IV out because I was so upset and that is not like me! They treated me like a human. read more

I went to Kent yesterday for a bunionectomy and toe arthroplasty. I was a bit apprehensive due to reading the reviews. It was my first time at Kent and I have to say everyone in Ambulatory Surgery was great from sign-in to nurse assistant to RN to anesthesiologist, right down to my doctor, Eric Meehan from South County Foot & Ankle.. 3 Stars ONLY bc the Labor and Delivery nurses are amazing! I felt safe and cared for during labor, now fast forward to after labor eeeek. After care stinks the nurses dont give a darn what hour they wake you up and you're not allowed to have your baby in your arms at night unless you're standing! They woke me up to take vitals, seriously! I had no rest i wish i couldve picked Women and Infants again for my 2nd child but my great new doc isnt affiliated there bc Kent is next door. The nurses yelled all night long in the hallways, ignored me when i needed something i rang the bell sometimes 3 times (15 mins or so apart to be fair). I'm sickened by my post labor experience it blew and i would never encourage a soul to use Kent for Labor and Delivery. Go TO WOMEN AND INFANTS where they give a darn,love their jobs and care about you! read more

I recently had my baby at Kent. It was the most awful experience of my life. The memory of my childs birth will forever be tainted by the awful experience I had at Kent County Hospital labor and delivery. If your doctor only delivers at Kent, I would recommend to switch doctors. It doesn't matter how much you love them! Switch. It's not worth it. I wish I had listened to my specialist who told me at 8 months pregnant to switch and not have my baby there!! Pretty telling when another doctor advises against a hospital and an ob. I suffered for not heading the warning. I partially blame the obgyn for my poor outcome of my health and my overall experience. Do not go to Caring for Women. While the support staff is amazing, the actual doctors lack immensely. Sadly the doctor is what counts in the end when you're having a baby. This hospital needs to clean house with its old staff who think they run the show and overstep their boundaries. Patients are paying customers. My familys medical expenses are astronomical! Like many families now, we pay a lot of money for our insurance and medical needs. We deserve to be treated as the paying customers we are!! Closing note to Kent hospital - You should really consider drug testing your anesthesiologists!!! Damage was done to me. Some permanent. I do not recommend this hospital to any mom to be!! I received a lot of constructive feedback prior to having my baby at Kent. Most people thought I was crazy for not choosing Women and Infants. My husband and I did our research, we had taken some classes at Kent and met the staff prior to choosing it and we were very happy with our decision. Through work and family we have observed the Women and Infant's scene. If you are having a high risk medical pregnancy- by all means- Providence is the way to go. However if your pregnancy is normal and uncomplicated, can I please recommend Kent. The labor and delivery team was AMAZING. The staff ensured I was aware of every move and I was on board. I had complete hands on service with nurses by my side during the entire experience. I would like to ecspecially acknowledge Brenda and Janet.. Two of my most favorite nurses who began and ended the journey with me. The anestesiologist was awesome- great sense of humor yet caring and followed up with me during my 5 day stay to make sure I was ok. The post partum nurses were also outstanding. Kim I and Joyce were of the best! I never expected such a caring and devoted hospital team. They helped my husband and I enter into the world of parenting in such a gentle and caring way. I will definitely return with all future babies. read more

This hospital is disgraceful. They leave you laying on beds in the hallway for hours (parked next to the regulars. Aka drunken homeless people) even though there are tons of open rooms! The nurses are Ill manored and rude-In fact they violated my hipa laws by stating my personal information ALOUD in front of dozens of other patients. The doctors have the poorest bedside manor I've ever seen, and on several occasions I have had them complain about my coming in for help, and family members of mine as well! As if they have the right to decide if my pain isn't "emergency" enough. My doctor tonight told me I had no right to come into the ER for my condition and it wasnt worthy of An ER visit. Hospitals aren't the kind of place you choose to go to. Usually a trip here represents guaranteed wreck of your day. Fortunately, when you do have to go it's nice to know there's a reliable caring staff waiting to care for you or your loved ones. My 82 year old mother, on an extended visit from Florida, had a medial issue and ended up in Hospital for a week. The staff at Kent(where interestingly enough my mother spent one of her early rotations as a nurse WAaaaaaay back when), were exceptionally attentive and Mom couldn't have been more pleased with her treatment and the quality the care she received. In fact the Kent staff were incredibly attentive to all of my family. Whenever we were there, which was pretty much around the clock, the staff took the time to ask if there was anything we needed or help if we had questions they could answer. I know Kent has had a reputation in the past as being sub-par, but clearly things have changed for the better. Dramatically so. read more

My daughter was sent here by her pediatrician for numbness and lack of feeling in her legs. We have been waiting to go back for 2 hours. She is in tears and the staff are walking around and having personal conversations while people are sick and in pain. Several people have actually just walked out! This is beyond pathetic. I felt compelled to write about my great experience at Kent for a recent knee surgery I underwent. I heard some very frightening stories about the hospital and I was incredibly anxious about my surgery due to the bad reputation I was hearing about. Well, let me just say that I had a wonderful experience in the surgical unit. The nurses and the staff were incredibly kind and caring. They worked very hard to ease my stress and to make this a truly great experience. I felt that I was in good hands and not rushed out at all. I have felt rushed for other smaller procedures in the past and that was not at all the case here. It was clear to me that the hospital has undergone mangagement changes over the years and it has definately paid off. I was truly impressed and I would highly reccommend Kent. read more

I have been to Kent Hospital twice in the last 6 months for total knee replacement surgery. I can't say enough good things about this hospital and it's staff. My room was awesome, the housekeeping staff came in two or three times a day to empty trash. The nurses were so professional, great bedside manner, and kept me up to date on my treatment. The CNA's who do all the dirty work were courteous, kind, and friendly. I wouldn't go anywhere else but Kent. I read quite a few reviews and was astonished by the negativity. I have never had an issue with the emergency room doctors or nurses except once and that was due to my insurance company. The doctor ordered additonal tests and once they came back everything went smoothly. Medicine is not an exact science and too many people run to the ER when a trip or phone call to their doctor would suffice. Please give these people the credit they deserve. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. The condescending nurse practitioner Marianne has a terrible attitude and is only trying to make money. We were seen at another location and only sent here for a CT scan but they don't care and aren't doing what we were sent for. We are having to go through the same questions over again as we were asked from the actual doctor at Concentra. The orders that we were sent with are being ignored. This morning I went into the Ambulatory Services Pavilion building at Kent Hospital for an Epidural procedure that I have been waiting for to relieve pain in my back caused by several herniated discs. I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience, from start to end! Check in- the waiting room area is large with some comfy seating. There is a coffee nuke with several flavors offered. The area is very well kept. There is a greeter of sorts who directs you to where you sign in and when the intake coordinator is ready for you. The coordinator was very nice and explained she would help me complete the paper work. They are very detailed and ensure that all information is correct before finalizing anything. Operating room waiting area- from the nurse who called for me to come to the back down to the IV nurse who set me up, are complexity wonderful! The first nurse was sweet and friendly and the IV nurse was very personable and made me feel very comfortable after I mentioned that I have a phobia of needles. They kept me at ease. The Dr. Who was performing my procedure as well as his assistant were also fantastic. Dr. Bea was down to earth and explained to me exactly what he would be doing and assured me he would make sure I was as comfortable as possible. Operating room/procedure- The assistant to the Dr could tell I was nervous so she engaged me in conversation to keep my mind off of what was happening. Even though I was sedated, she could tell I was still a little nervous and she continued talking to me about the upcoming races that I have been training for and that she to enjoys entering different races. The Dr also made sure to keep me up to date with everything he did, each step of the way. Before I knew it, the procedure was done and the pain I felt was minimal compared to what I thought it would be. Recovery Room- omg! Her name is Donna and she was my recovery nurse and I would have given her a huge kiss on the cheek if I could have gotten away with it not being weird! She was ah-mazing!!! She made sure I was comfortable, she joked with me, made sure I had everything I needed. Donna is the type of nurse who enjoys what she does because it shows through her actions and her soft, gentle voice. My interactions with each person was just great. I love how the staff here demonstrate that they are there for the right reasons, which is to care for the patients placed in their care and not just for a paycheck. I have two more rounds of my procedure to complete and even though I am not a fan of hospitals, I am not dreading coming back read more

I understand the Opiod epidemic I really do but I want to share my story....My dad is 74 years old has suffered from debilitating COPD/ emphysema for the past 9 years his pulmonologist says it doesn't get any worse he is at the end of the road. End stage COPD he can't walk hardly 5 feet without getting severly winded! My father recently the last 5 days has complained of severe sciatic pain (possibly his muscles are deteriorating from constant sitting) maybe his bones are weakening from the maintenance dose of Prednisone...I dont know but I know my father is in pain and can hardly move which is making his breathing worse. I call 911 and send him to Kent Hospital they outright tell me they rarely give out any pain meds now because of the new rules from the Health dept.....they give dad a pain shot at the hospital and send him Home with a prescription of Aspercream .04 lidocaine cream (yes you can buy it OTC) today he sits here in pain miserable and now suffers from both the sciatica pain and end stage COPD... Barely able to stand. They tell me to follow up with his primary..not so easy when your dad is in the condition my dad is!! My Father has been waiting in his hospital room for three days for an MRI. 3 days 19 hours of fasting and counting..

Much of the aftercare I received was good but I was extremely offended by the pre-care. I was brought in by ambulance due to disc herniation - the pain was extruciating to the point that I was literally screaming in pain - asked EMTs if they could give me pain relief before removing me from my bed - they said they could not but could give me something in their truck - several EMT's removed me to the best of their abiliity to eleviate any pain but it did not help and I suffered greatly - once in the truck they started an IV to give me pain meds but were reluctent to administer them until we got to Kent where I had to beg them to please administer because I knew (having been through this before) that I would be sitting in the ER for hours before being seen. The worse part of this experience is that when the EMT wheeled me in, the nurse, taking me in, asked the EMT if this was legit or just someone just pretending to need an opoid - neither knew that I was completely aware of what they were saying - the EMT confirmed I was legit - but I was not treated with pain meds for quite awhile and suffered. I understand the opiod crisis going on but DO NOT WITHOLD PAIN MEDS TO PEOPLE WHO ARE IN DIRE NEED - it is disgusting that because of the people that abuse, the people who do not, and need them, are refused! read more

The staff at kent hospital emergency room saved my dad's life this past weekend. I firmly believe had he gone to any other hospital in the state, especially Miriam or Rhode Island, he would have died in the waiting room given Miriam and Rhode Island average 6 hr wait times. My dad went to kent with a saddle pe. Most folks die within 2 hrs of symptom on set of a saddle pulmonary embolism given how severe and where it sits. Kent's er took him right away, diagnosed him fast, got him on a heparin drip, and was able to get a treatment plan in place while also diagnosing him with a blood disorder he never knew he had. He would not be here today if it weren't for the staff at kent and we are forever grateful for their knowledge, communication, and compassion. He was discharged 4 days later and is home with follow up appointments, not quite out of the woods , but is alive and knows what must be done to continue to recover. Had he gone anywhere else, he would not have survived. THANK YOU KENT HOSPITAL STAFF !!!! read more

this was a few years ago but i went to the er because i lived right down the street with horrible lower right side stomach pain ... the dr came in said ok we are gonna get a CT ... they do nothing about the pain except tell me they need to wait for the scan .. scan comes back it's my appendix ... well now we need to wait for surgery to see you before we do anything for pain ... what ? ok so i wait for surgery they say i need to be admitted for surgery and they order medicine... had the surgery went to my follow up 2 weeks later still in a considerable amount of pain ... surgeon orders another scan ....i get home and get a call from the surgeon i need to get to the ER immediately... apparently at the end of the surgery he left the room and let the resident switch me up ... well he left a clamp in and now i need to have another surgery to get it out ... will NEVER go here again !!! read more

Not only did they misdiagnose my aunt's broken hip but they tried to bully me into making substantial payments for diagnostic testing during this Covid19 pandemic. I was out of work due to 2 people in my company testing positive. To make matters worse, I work in MA. Just to file for UI was time consuming. Then I had to wait for payment. At least University Gastroenterology gave me the option of making a payment I could afford every month, no matter how little. Not so w/Kent. They need to shut down. Kent dont even deserve one star let along 5.. this hospital is horrible. my poor father inlaw had copd and yes was in and out of the hospital due to it my mother inlaw who had power of attorney of him was told that those papers were no good and kent went against her wishes and stopped all treatment they told her he didnt want her as power of attorney anymore well by law that cant be done wit out a lawyer and none of his family heard him ever say this and kent tried to hide him and later the next day called and said he didnt have much longer and said we should go there after kicking my mother inlaw and brother inlaw out the day before calling the cops on them... my father inlaw passed away due to kent going against my mother inlaws wishes.... Attentive and caring, knowledgeable staff. This is "our hospital" since moving to Warwick and they've always treated us well and been kind to us. No, it's not perfect, but it's a large hospital with a lot of different people working there. So people are going to have different experiences. But we've never had a bad one there. read more
