I 100% dont recommend woodford humane society. They cancled my appointment just because they are…read morerude and racist. Everyone go to lexington humane society they are nice and helpfull and dont ask so many quesitons. The employes were being so rude to my daughter on the Phone . She clearly told the employee that we could take the paper work to them in person but no they wanna be racist and ignore her and say "you cant email it" like if the email doesnt work why do you think she was offering to go in person to show you guys the paper for my dog. And they got mad at my daughter when they called my dogs vet because we didnt have a appointment when my daughter never said we were taking my dog to get her vacacciens at búfalo trace just straight lying to her face and the employee told my son she talled to on the Phone that my daughter doesnt know how to talk like an adult. Just straight lies she was telling my son. Woodford humane society do better. Im so pissed

I adopted Nicole 4th of July weekend she was a three month old baby kitten. I had a great…read moreexperience and highly recommend this location for adoption. The online registration process was simple, the staff is friendly and assistive, and all the cats were well tended to. Nicole acclimated to my home right away with no signs of fear or having been neglected any time prior to her adoption. She had all of her shots up to date, was neutered, and was litter box trained. Today she is triple in size and weight, climbs stairs in a single bound, and loves to purr loud.

So I applied to multiple rescue places looking for a puppy to adopt. Let them live was the first to…read morerespond and set up an appointment to let me come meet the dogs. There were not so many hoops to jump through like other rescues. Many of the other ones wanted to do a home inspection and have interviews before I could even meet the dog. After receiving the email and setting the appointment, I started to do some research and there were some bad reviews saying how terrible they were. But there were also some good reviews. I decided to go and check it out for myself. I went by myself so I was a little freaked out when google maps said I had arrived and I was on a street of trailer homes with no addresses. I sent an email saying I was there but not sure what house. They responded right away and told me where to go. I pulled in and the lady came outside and waved. Once inside I was relieved. After meeting the dogs and talking with them a while I felt comfortable adopting from them. I wasn't sure yet so I left and thought about it over night and came back in the morning to get her. This was the foster home that they were in. They were very friendly while I was there. Some things to consider. I paid cash and got a hand written receipt. They micro chipped her themselves while I was there and I had to hold the dog while she did it. Later I saw that it was expired. (But like how does a microchip expire? It still works) There are several dogs living in the small home that stay in crates. They are not potty trained because there are too many puppies at once and one lady caring for them. There were vet records and had the first round of parvo shots but had not been dewormed. That being said, my puppy was perfectly healthy. They were very friendly. Though everything may not be by the books, she was very loving and caring for the dogs. She gave them love and attention. My puppy still loves being in her crate and never cried through the night when I took her home because she was already comfortable in one. So in summary if you are looking for the perfect puppy and want everything to be 100% official then this place is not for you. But if you fall in love with a dog on their website and you're not too concerned with the details and just want to provide a loving home ... go for it! I am very happy I now have my baby :)

If I could give less than 1 star and be able to leave a review, I most definitely would. This is…read moreprobably one of the worst places for any animal to be -- if I didn't have to return the kitten I got from them to them, due to a clause in their contract, I would have rather her to Lexington Humane Society or give her to someone who could have cats/kittens (unfortunately my apartment turned into a no animals allowed unless it's a service animal). They aren't honest with you about the cats/kittens whether you call the humane society or whether you call petsmart. We adopted a kitten and her whole face got bloated, her eyes were red and watery, swollen, and she was sneezing hardcore. I don't usually own cats so I called and asked them about it, they were completely clueless. "yeah, maybe some dust got in her face and she started sneezing." Puh-lease. I was born at night, but not last night. I googled and used tik tok and found out she had a respiratory infection. So I had to use more money to go help her out because the vet said that she has had it since she was born so it would be a reoccurring thing, but PAWS told me that she was perfectly healthy. I then found out I had to return her because of my apartment no longer being pet friendly, and I could not get grandfathered in even tho I had asked. They were so hard to get ahold of until I finally could and I asked if we could pay cash or card, they said either. I told them I didn't get paid for a couple days after I drop off, is there any extra fees? They told me no, then told my partner once they got there, it was 13 dollars, with the card fee and if "we didn't have it, then we had to take her back." Despicable place. PETSMART should get rid of their partnership or whatever they have with them. And someone should probably go close them down. Never EVER adopt from them or take your animals there. Horrible people who work there with no empathy and horrible environment for animals.

They have helped me spay and neuter six feral cats that have shown up on our farm, helping to decrease the population of unwanted kittens being born out in the wild.

every thing was great about this Kentucky Humane Society it's pets are healthy and very adorable…read moreand super adoptable

I've never been so disappointed trying to adopt an animal. I reached out to the Nelson County…read moreAnimal Shelter through every possible method -- Facebook, their website form, email, and phone -- and after three days, no one had even bothered to review my application or follow up. It's honestly unacceptable for a shelter that claims to want to help animals find homes. When I finally managed to speak to someone, the woman I talked to was incredibly unprofessional and dismissive. Rather than offering any help or understanding, she made me feel like I was wasting her time. I mentioned that their website and google search clearly says they're open on Saturdays by appointment, and she flat-out told me that Saturdays are not an option -- with zero explanation and an attitude that was shockingly rude for someone representing an animal shelter. Their limited hours -- only a few hours Monday through Friday -- make it almost impossible for anyone with a job to adopt. Add the lack of communication, slow response time, and unprofessional behavior, and it's no wonder so many animals are still waiting for homes. It's heartbreaking, because the animals here deserve so much better than this kind of disorganization and attitude. If the staff can't manage basic courtesy or responsiveness, how are they supposed to help the animals in their care find loving families? I truly hope they take this feedback seriously and make real improvements, because right now, it feels like they're standing in the way of adoptions, not helping them happen.
