Kervan Kebab house was a good little surprise considering how far I was from N. Va. The food was decent, fresh, and was given right away. I tried the Doner Kebab, but I felt the portions can be a little larger. Dont get me wrong it was tasty, but just on the lighter side in terms of portions. This was such a great turkish market/eatery...simply wonderful actually! This family owned eatery was very warm and inviting. The food was fresh, and so very good. The free turkish tea was a delightful addition as well (don't forget to ask for it)! This very unique family eatery fed and served us with such friendliness, and served up absolutely flavorfully good food! My lamb and rice was great, and so was my husband's beef doner. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and hubs and I decided to eat there one afternoon. The woman attending the register was very accommodating and answered all of our questions about the menu. Hubs got the beef doner sandwich and I got the chicken kebab sandwich. Each entree came with a bag of Utz chips. My sandwich was very good. The chicken was very tender and flavorful. We will definitely be back to eat here again. read more

As regular at Kervan Kebab House I usually get the Hummus Chicken Wrap. However based off the suggestion of fellow patron of Kervan I tried the Iskender Plate & let me tell you this was a great lunch plate! Not only did I receive my food in a timely fashion the Iskender Plate was very good! The beef had the appropriate amount of seasoning & yogurt added a delightful cool contrast to warm beef with pita bread and tomato sauce! The the rice & banana pepper really completed this great lunch choice! If you're in the Greenbriar area I would definitely give Kervan a try! You won't be disappointed!!! read more

Inexpensive and seemingly family-run, this kabob house does not have an extensive selection, but what selection it does have is solid. We had both the Iskender plate (gyro meat over pita pieces with a tomato sauce) and eggplant stuffed with a meat sauce. Both were flavorful and amazing! We finished with (free) Turkish tea and some baklava, which was flaky and honey sweet, but not so sweet that your teeth hurt like most baklava in this country - so this is more authentic than is typical for Hampton Roads. Very small quaint hidden gem. I passed this place on the way to Crazy Buffet and had to try. The dining area is small and it will get packed on weekends. You order at counter and the nice lady or her children will bring your food to your table. I ordered the chicken kabob with rice and salad for $9. Everything was flavorful and delicious! The hummus was also good. My son got the gyro with yogurt sauce and enjoyed it, plus forkfuls of mine! My kids father got the meat platter that's placed on cut up pita and a tomato base sauce served with rice and salad. He enjoyed his food as well, but the night we went it got busy and got a little uncomfortable -crammed like sardines. You have diners in a small area then customers ordering and picking up their food right next to our table. So, next time I'll make sure to go on a weekday or place a to go order. I have been there twice and a bit perplexed.. I love a good Doner Kebab, but usually its served on a Pita.. This is served more on a hogie roll.. I don't know if they are catering to the "american" palate, but i would think that by know people are used to pita wraps.. Other than that the doner was good, but needed some yoghurt sauce. Service is very relaxed.. not slow, just not urgent. Oh another warning if you ask for iced tea ask for unsweetened. Even though im from the south, i dont like fake sweet tea. Other than that the hummus is good, and the grape leaves looked good.. The prices are very good six bucks for a sandwich and chips.. I give this place 4.5 stars!! The seasonings are so good that we kept trying to figure out what was it about the blend that made it absolutely wonderful. The chicken kabobs were tender and moist. I traveled to the Norfolk area on business and stumbled onto Kervan's. This is a great restaurant that has a very simple menu. Their food is fresh and well seasoned! Love this place. Small hole in the wall with delicious Turkish food and a chance to try the local Turkish delicacies that I wouldn't be able to get in the US normally. The best Turkish food I have ever had! My husband and I go there for date night a lot. The atmosphere is cozy then tho it's in a strip mall. Very clean and well kept up, and that's important because I can tell that they care about the customers.
