I thought I would support local businesses so I went to the Castro Valley Market Place. I shopped…read moreat the Market Place store..nice products. I had ordered a fish from Barons and I went to pick it up. I asked is it deboned and head off? The guy sais to me you talked to me and you didn't ask for that with an attitude. Well I had spoken to a few people and had asked. Then I noticed there were several bills in the tip jar which is not near the staff. I said you should really cover that and he said oh were fine once again with attitude. I don't appreciate being treated badly and I won't be going back.

I remember the first time visiting Baron's Quality Meats and Seafood and we bought a Denver Steak,…read morewhich was recommended by a friend's dad who used to be a butcher. [From the web] "A Denver steak, also known as Zabuton, is a relatively new, well-marbled, and tender cut of beef from the chuck primal section under the shoulder blade. It comes from the serratus ventralis muscle and is prized for its rich flavor and buttery texture, similar to a ribeye, despite being from a traditionally tougher area of the cow. It is best cooked using high-heat searing methods to fully develop its flavor and tenderize it. After cooking it, it wasn't as tender as we had hoped. He said you need to braise it. D'oh! We enjoy looking at the customer's dry aged beef sitting in the display case. Support your local business.

I can't believe I haven't written a review for a business my kids and I frequent all the time!…read moreWe've been coming to Always Yours since it opened. Hands down they have the best drinks, cookies, macarons, cakes, and now salt bread! I always come to get treats for my kid's teachers (for their birthdays, teacher appreciation week, just because, etc.). I've brought friends visiting the Bay Area to this bakery, which they have loved. Always Yours also has fun cup sleeve events, macaron classes and afternoon tea from time to time. We love supporting small businesses and this one is definitely worth supporting! P.S. with all these drink places popping up in the area...we still think the drinks at Always Yours not only taste better, but also are of higher quality.

Get the butter toffee cookie because it is so delicious!…read more The store is very clean, plenty of seating to enjoy your sweet treat. Order the ube cheesecake, butter toffee cookie, and a assam milk tea with boba. The order came out quickly. Ube Japanese cheesecake is tasty, not too much ube taste. It is super light and moist, love how it is not too sweet. For the assam milk tea, I prefer it with more tea flavor. The drink was ok, the matcha drinks look better. The butter toffee cookie was the best, it was flavorful, the toffee has added toasted nutty flavor with some sugar. I would get a box full. Overall, has a great variety of baked goods.

I finally had some down time to stop by on a Saturday lunch, and it was pretty empty since I visited during Ramadan. But the man working behind the counter was so friendly and patient with me. I literally felt like my stomach was bigger than my eyes, I wanted to try everything. But got a few chocolate covered goodies from kunafa to dates to regular dark chocolate for me and my coworkers. EVERYBODY loved it. My favorite hands down was the chocolate covered date. You HAVE to get that one. I only got a single, but I wish I got like five. You can also pick and choose and they provide you a little baggie to put them all in. They also sell turkish delight which he cuts for you by hand. I really enjoyed the pomegranate one as a nut-allergy girlie. The rose water was a little too rose-y for me. Too floral, it tasted like the smell of a grandma with her potpourri. They also sell nuts and other goodies like Palestinian ceramics. I had to get myself a Falasteeni ceramic magnet. It was so beautiful, painted with olives all over. Zaytoun aesthetic! Will def be back to calm my sweet tooth. And always, free Palestine!
