Kevin's Taiyaki is located inside of PAT Central Market in Koreatown at Bloor/Manning. They are a small stall selling only 1 item, taiyaki (a fish shaped pastry)! There are only 2 taiyaki flavours - red bean or custard, and each taiyaki is $3 (tax already included). If you get 5 taiyaki, the price is $14 (you get a dollar off). The stall is cash only. I dropped by Kevin's Taiyaki on a Sat evening. Best part is that you can see the staff constantly making fresh taiyaki. We ordered 3 custard taiyakis and they were warm and fresh when staff gave them to us. I did eat my taiyaki a few hours later but it was still delicious. Overall, great small food stall inside the Korean supermarket for taiyaki!

I must admit that another reason why I love going to Pat Central is I know I can enjoy the deliciousness of a Taiyaki after I finish my grocery shopping. Kevin's Taiyaki is located inside the grocery and is definitely not hard to miss especially with the delicious aroma lingering in the air. They make the best golden fish-shaped cake - crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and filled with sweet filling of your choice which in my case and my favourite - the sweet red bean paste. One bite into this fish shaped pastry ensures you get a buttery crust and tender mochi-like chew on the inside with the rich sweetness filling spreading into your mouth. Taiyaki is best consumed as the street food it is - eaten while still piping hot from the pan. I tried bringing it home once and it's not as good as when you eat it fresh.

We tried this again and we still love the red bean taiyaki! The line was quick and it now costs $5 (inflation of course).

At first I was so confused where the map was leading me because I still didnt see the name of the store outside. I saw there was a dalgona poster in a sliding door of a grocery store which made me realize this place is located inside the grocery store. Its on the left side once you walk-in. Its a super small space. Decided to get the 5 pcs for $14, 2 custard filling and 3 red bean filling. I didnt like the red bean as much.

This place was a little hard to find since there is no sign outside advertising the shop and it is inside a supermarket in a small corner on the side, although I am really glad I got the chance to try this place out! They only had two options to choose from which were the custard and red bean, and they are only $3 which is a good price for a taiyaki. The red bean taiyaki came out warm and was really tasty as it was not too sweet! The taiyaki was also chewy and had a nice texture. I would definitely recommend checking out this place if you are into taiyaki and are into desserts that are not too sweet!

When in Koreatown, you just can't go home without buying a box! Although there's many trendy snacks and treats within walking distance, I always go back to the good old classic taiyaki. I ordered a box of 5 for myself (3 custard and 2 red bean). They're going for $3 a piece of $14 a box currently accepting cash only. Luckily, I had cash on me that day otherwise I'd be leaving Ktown disappointed. When I placed my order, they had a freshly made batch so mine were all nice and hot! I also like how they didn't trim off the ends, so I get bits of pieces of the crispy sides!

The ultimate dessert stop! The best crispy fish custard waffle. They are never soggy but always crispy, thick in the waffle batter and filled with custard. This store beats all the other stores that make fish waffles! They offer two flavors: red bean and custard and sold right inside of the PAT mart for $2.75! This is worth every penny and I regret not ordering more. Always a treat, never a disappointment!

Love this pic of a guy fishing for a Taiyaki with the words - "There's no fish in a fish waffle" So I have been wondering why is there NO fish in a fish waffle? Why not make a savory rice waffle filled with small deep fried fish or roe? Please start a new trend. We had the custard filled and it was good. I would buy it again when I come back in town. Crispy rice batter pancake filled with custard for $2.5 Back in Econ class, they taught us that businesses that specialize in one thing usually do a darn good job and with best price and shortest time.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!! it's a hidden gem that everyone needs to go to this small store is located inside the PAT grocery store in Korea town. upon a glance it looks pretty simple and has a small menu so my expectations weren't too high . my friends and I all got the custard taiyaki and it is priced at $2.5 for one and $12 for 5. the taiyaki is freshly made and has four flavours, custard and red/ black / green bean the taiyaki was given to us quickly and it was fresh and hot. the taiyaki was easily one of the best that I have ever had. the exterior was crispy and hot. I also liked the slight sweetness that the batter had. as for the custard it was sweet and creamy. the custard flavour was perfect because it wasn't too sweet. I loved every bite and right after finishing it I craved for more. I would recommend this light dessert for everyone and I will be coming again for sure. I LOVE IT

WE LOOOVe KEVIN's TAIYAKI!! really good dessert/snack! Would definitely recommend custard and red bean, they're so yummy! The place itself is small and quick but that's the point, you have to get it and leave (then eat). The custard and red bean filling are so soft, smooth and tasty and it's not too sweet either!! I could totally eat like 5 in one sitting. I personally prefer this taiyaki over the ones with ice cream/soft serve inside the fish! 10/10 would recommend!!

Delicious and piping hot ~ They're $2.50 each and takes cash only. The entrance is inside PAT (grocery store) for those who had trouble finding it. I walked past it multiple times and only found it when grocery shopping. Lots of redbean filling and wholesome crispy outside. Simply a treat on a cool evening!

Much better than Kevin's Kayaks (which sells boats), Kevin's Thai Yaks, which sells Yaks (poor animals), and Kevin's Type-2 Diabetes, which he probably got from eating too many of his own fish-shaped waffle-like custard desserts. What to get: A Fish-Shaped Waffle-Like Custard Dessert. Why: Because it's freaking amazing, is why, silly. Does it taste like Fish: No. What does it taste like: Custard. Waffles. Heaven. Are you sure it doesn't taste like Fish: I can't with you. Owned by Kevin Costner, Kevin Federline, Kevin Bacon and Kevin Spacey. Inside an awesome Korean grocery store, near the front, to the left as you walk in, is this little stand selling amazing dessert treats. They are similar to waffles, shaped like fish, and taste of custard on the inside. They are warm and delicious. I have no idea what exactly they are or why Americans and Canadians don't really have them, but I am very lucky to have discovered them, and if you are in Toronto, so should you. They're good enough to go out of your way for. So after you have that amazing Banh Mi from Banh Mi Boys, the best dumplings on the planet (literally) at Dumpling House on Spadina, and the amazing Pork Bone Soup from Seor across the street from there, as well as more good dumplings at Yummy Yummy... you need to get up to Bloor for dessert. You can probably knock back quite a few of these, but if you have too many of them, don't drive, or you may end up in Custardy. One of the best hidden gems in all of Canada. Try it and then tell me I was wrong. Actually don't, because if you do, you'll be wrong that I was wrong. Also they don't Costner much at all. My ex gf said she refused to eat any sort of Asian desserts so I just Federline about how this wasn't really Asian, and it worked out. However they don't sell Bacon. Sorry I feel a bit Spacey today.

There's no reservation system but they do have a waitlist on Yelp which gets you in line (highly recommended). First to know is you can't pay with credit card here--there's an ATM in the front of the restaurant. As far as the restaurant goes, it was fantastic from start to finish. Our table of 4 was seated and serviced by 1 main staff member, Lydia, who talked us through the whole menu and ordering system, recommended some great starts and then kept us frequently updated all throughout dinner. She checked up on us along with her assistants who were also bringing items and servicing the table. The food quality was excellent with juicy and flavorful cuts of beef along with the shrimp, pork, veggies, side dishes/ponchon, and rice--it kept coming consistently. Grill changes were frequent as well. The atmosphere is lively and there are a lot of servers so you aren't trying get someone's attention all the time. But it doesn't feel too cramped at the same time. As it is AYCE, everyone in our group left full of course and enjoyed each course. I liked the almond tofu at the end! ----TL;DR---- Pros: great selection of meats, quality was top notch, huge portions of course as it is AYCE, service was prompt and all staff were really friendly. Cons: no reservations so need to be on a waitlist. The no credit card system is a bit of an inconvenience. Bottom Line: we loved it--definitely would go back again and enjoy more of their selections! You have to try them if you like meat and AYCE!

It's my go-to spot to get my don fix - I love the wide variety of dons (rice bowls) that they offer with various fish and seafood combinations. There are also unique appetizers in the menu, such as Purple Yam Croquettes, Crab Crackers, Braised Bamboo Shoots with Shirasu (immature whitebait fish), and Takowasa (marinated raw octopus pieces, to be eaten with or wrapped in nori / seaweed). Although the dons are the main highlight of their menu (hence the restaurant name), they also offer traditional sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and sets (similar to other Japanese sushi restaurants). Miso Aburi Scallops were very flavourful - nicely torched, giving the scallops a nice grill / char taste. They came with red and green seaweed, and a bit of fish roe. Large Premium Hana Don contained a good amount of fish and seafood, including a whole abalone, uni, shrimp in the shell, aburi salmon, ikura (salmon roe), salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, other various fish sashimi, tamago (egg), and a few slices of cucumber on a generous bed of rice. I liked that the rice was a mix of white rice and some type of dark-coloured grains. Unatama Don came with a big piece of unagi and tamago (egg) that were both excellent. The sashimi were all fresh. Okonomiyaki was disappointing but it was sort of expected... for only $9, it was about 99% just flour pan-fried in a patty, without any substantial fillings (unlike real okonomiyaki, which usually contains protein / seafood, cabbage, eggs, and other ingredients). Location is super convenient near Bay & Dundas, ambiance is very casual, and service is quick.

We got a bunch of dishes to share and overall liked most things but some things (like the oyster) unfortunately didn't hit as well. Wagyu - thin slices but very tender and very flavorful with the cheese - surprised by how well the flavor combo worked out. Tofu - easily one of my fave agedashi tofu. Huge tofu slices with very chewy outer texture, a bit gelatinous . Really went well with the sauce and toppings Carbonara - nice chewy texture to the udon, not too soft and not too firm. The sauce was nice and creamy. Not as truffley as I thought it would be, wish it was a little more but it was still pretty good Oyster - least favorite of all the dishes we got today. It was a bit sour and the cheese felt like it didn't really help the flavor profile of the oysters. It was super oily from the cheese, felt like it was drowning in cheese/oil flavor Cod - it looks good but something is lacking, maybe in taste? Feel like maybe the marinade did not penetrate enough. The texture is still nice and soft , with a crisp skin . Also was a bit too oily for our liking, compared to other miso cod we have had. It was also a relatively smaller piece of cod. Overall, the appetizers were really good! The oyster and cod were a bit disappointing. Would come back for the carbonara and the other appetizers mentioned though!
