We started with the conch fritters- probably some of the best I have EVER had! They put a little curry in it so it has a unique taste that is delicious. I had the shrimp and crab cake salad, the shrimp was savory and the crab cake was tasty. My husband had the cracked conch basket- wow is all I could say. The conch had a great texture and was fresh. The US1 traffic noise can be a little annoying, but that's not the restaurant's fault. A little on the spendy side, FYI. To be honest, this meal was a let down. The whole meal was really lacking flavor. I did enjoy the Mahi and Avocado meal overall, but mostly because I also got toastones as a side (additional cost) to go with it. The main meal was fine enough (fish was seasoned well but slightly over cooked), pico was the most flavorful part of the whole meal, BUT the meal doesn't come with any vehicle to eat it (chips, for example). It's just a piece of fish, a big pile of pico and 1/2 a sliced avocado...as they say, good idea, poor execution. Wife got fried calamari - said they were rubbery. She also got the fish and chips (fried Mahi and French fries). The fries were the "seasoned" kind you get at the grocery store. We're not confident that any of her food was fresh - it all came out very fast and was super bland, very greasy. The service was great, staff was attentive and polite. read more

This restaurant is very quirky, funky, and beachy. The conch house really embodies what you think of as a typical beach house. We decided to go here after reading reviews and seeing that Emeril Lagasse has tried it. The restaurant has a small indoor seating area, porch seating, and a patio. What we ordered: -Watermelon salad: the watermelon salad was INCREDIBLE. It was very refreshing and came with watermelon, tomatoes, cheese, mint, and their house made blueberry vinaigrette. I definitely recommend starting with this delicious salad or even ending with it as a dessert! -Crabmeat stuffed Mahi: the grilled Mahi came stuffed with crab ands sauce on top. It was really delicious and tasted like a crab cake wrapped in Mahi. This dish also came with vegetables that were simple but good! The only thing that made it not great was our waitress. She wasn't super passionate about the food and wasn't great at providing recommendations. Good: The location is beautiful, we sat on patio and it was lovely. The food we got (see below) was bad but the waitress comp'ed us the 2 dishes we significantly did not like, which was appreciated. Bad: The food. We got the house conch - inedible. The Caribbean shrimp - the patacones were so hard, they were disgusting, and there was basically no seasoning anywhere on the plate. One person in our group got gator nuggets - they tasted good, he was pleased. Around 3 AM he spent about an hour vomiting all of them up. Fun to get food poisoning on your first night of vacation! Great focus on conch dishes, whether that's fried like calamari or in soup. The salads are pretty unique, fresh, and light. The porch is terrific for dining outside - exactly what you want in the Keys. They serve some of my favorite fish tacos anywhere.
