My truck failed to start on Friday (had a suspicion it might be the alarm/key fob as both sets stopped functioning. Ford factory alarm went haywire) so I looked on Yelp as I always do for any service. Key master was the first to respond & had 4 stars + positive comments. I spoke to Oscar after I sent him my mobile # & he gave some possible solutions. Oscar said he would meet me at the trucks location, The truck was in San Diego. I told him I would probably have towed to my house in Chula Vista the following day. Oscar gladly said he would me me whichever location, he said to just let him know. Saturday I had it towed to Chula Vista & I called Oscar who showed up promptly with a young assistant. Within 15-20 minutes they determined both key fobs were non-functioning, batteries were good though, he had a batt/freq tester that solved the mystery. Please go to another locksmith, this one is not trustworthy. I rarely will leave a bad review but I had to get my Prius key reprogrammed and bought a battery from him for $25. After 2 days my car was notifying me that I had low battery on my key. I finally changed it out for another one and now it's fine. When I brought this up to him he was mentioning that it's probably bc the car remote battery needs to be replaced every 6 months. That's a lie. Yael showed up exactly on time and completed the job of replacing the ignition switch cylinder on a 2003 Ford Focus. (It had been replaced 6 years earlier, which is about the expected interval.) I was impressed with his technical skill and he finished in a couple of hours, which included rekeying the new ignition to our existing keys. By way of a constructive criticism, I would suggest they carry a hand-held vacuum to get up the metal shavings from drilling out the old cylinder. Oscar and Yael were prompt in responding to each message exchange and I was impressed with the professionalism shown in the responses. Both Oscar and Yael arrived within a half hour of the initial contact, as promised. I had contacted them and 4 other locksmith services and, although they weren't the cheapest (close to it tho') they were very reasonably priced. Five house locks and a mailbox were rekeyed in less than two hours from the time of our initial contact. Completion of the task required removal of the tumblers (I had lost my keys so they needed to pick one of the locks to access the initial tumbler), rekeying all tumblers and cutting of the keys, along with lock replacement and keying of the mailbox took approximately an hour. I believe it was the father who responded to my initial yelp message and who provided me with fabulous customer service as we corresponded back-and-forth for days. Not only was he very patient with all of my questions, but he always replied right away. Once I scheduled my appointment, Yael (his son) arrived exactly at the exact time promised and was very kind and patient. I was so surprised at how knowledgeable he was about locks and how quickly he resolved a problem that we thought would be much more catastrophic. I suspect he could have told me my problem was much worse and charge me a lot more money, but he was honest and didn't do that. I reached out to key masters for a replacement car key for a Lexus 2006 on July 25 because my keys had been stolen but it was too late for them to take the call. I reached out the next day in the morning on July 26, but the locksmith did not come to work on my vehicle until the next day July 27 in the afternoon. The locksmith apologized for the delay as he stated that they did not have this particular key available and thus the service was delayed although at times I kept myself wondering if they would show up since the service had been pushed over. A month later, the key stopped working. I reached out to them again last Thursday morning and they did not prioritize to make it right, instead they wanted to charge an additional fee to come out for service. I requested a refund because they did not deliver the service that needed to be provide yet they refused. I had no choice but to call a different locksmith and later learned that the key was off market and secondly the car door key had not been sketched to use on my car door.
