Sorry but I'm not a fan of this location. I ordered a 2-piece original recipe meal. The wing was so small. I asked why it was so small and the lady behind the counter replaced it with a piece that was just as small. The chicken came out really fast but it's nothing like the KFC chicken I'm used to. Think twice for food to go. The photo shows only two of the pieces of chicken. The leg was a dried up piece that had half of the meat missing. The wing is a greasy mess. I don't know what it is about KFC employees, but they are all so nice! It must be something in their chicken, because I find myself holding doors open for people and patiently sitting in traffic after eating a Snacker or two. Believe me... I'm no fan of KFC corporate especially after their Oprah Winfrey ordeal and all the PETA stuff out there... but the restaurants themselves entice me to return with their clean tables, friendly employees, and the scent of gravy! After KFC's Santa Cruz location closed down, I was forced to swich to the Capitola location for some Colonel's chicken... it's better! I was blown away by the customer service at this location. Initially arriving on a blazing 90+ degree weather for October, the cashier explained that their POS system was down and so they could only take cash. Well, I had no cash but offered to come back with cash as a bank is within walking distance. She said that he machine would take likely 5-10 minutes. As a sweet gesture, she gave me my float even though I hadnt paid. I waited as the lunch rush hour started. After the flow had come to a stop, I walked up asking if the machine was working. Indeed, next thing I know the same cashier saw that I had finished the float and hadnt realized I was waiting and offered a refil on the house. Super sweet women working here and great service. Worth the wrap around to get to this location. Definitely recommended. read more

This place truly needs to rethink its employee hiring practices. Went in today and noticed a somewhat poorly handwritten note on the doors stating masks are required regardless of vaccine status. Wasn't sure if it was an old note but I had a mask in my pocket so put in on. When I got to the counter I encountered an older somewhat unprofessional woman. I asked her through my mask if the mandate was a business decision. Mind you, I asked very calmly and not aggressively at all. I went through the same thing yesterday at my tax accounts office. They do have that right. She then went off on a tangent on how masks are good and yes it's our companies decision. Masks are good, masks are good, repeatedly said the same thing. She was so loud it was embarrassing. She then told me that I was lucky they were wearing masks so they couldn't spit on the food And again in very loud and obnoxious manner. So I guess when they no longer require masks we can expect them to spit on the food? Time for her to be retired, I truly think she may have mental issues, not a good look. I hope they understand the IRS and FTB implications for their employees, who must pay an implied (estimated) amount of income tax for their "tips" if any form of tipping is encouraged or expected. Myself, I will now avoid this place. Any place that has no table service, no waiters or waitresses, should not have a "tip jar." And they have now exposed their business to tax filing implications. Stopped by this location on our way home from Big Basin Redwoods State Park. The girl who took my order was super patient, I felt bad for her having to deal with my inability to order. It's been a while since I walked into a KFC to order, I usually just go to the drive-thru and pick up a bucket... It's a different story when you're getting meals on a plate. The girl who took my order was very patient in walking me through the different meal specials. In the end, I got two monday specials: 2 pieces of chicken, and two sides, for only $2.99 a plate. And then, I got 3 chicken strips for my little one. Add three medium sized drinks - everything for just a little over $16.00. Our local KFC has great service. We get an order of Original Recipe strips, which takes about five minutes, and requires a 6 strip minimum order. They're piping hot and tasty. Potato wedges, cole slaw, biscuits are all great sides. The songs on the A&W jukebox are fun, too. read more

I went in and ordered four thighs original recipe and a large potato wedges to go. Easy enough right? Well I suppose this is suppose to be MY FAULT!! I took my receipt and stood back waiting for the order. The woman who was readying it opened the boxes showing me (and I wondered about that as they NEVER did that before) the potato wedges first, "fine", then opened to show me the box with the chicken...."I ordered four thighs and you have two thighs and two drum sticks there." I said. and she looked at them like they were from outer space! I looked over at the young lady who keyed in my order and she looked sort of odd. I had to repeat myself FOUR TIMES to the one getting my order ready, Like she couldn't hear me or something! I was saying with my voice low as I wasn't trying to appear like one of these people who go bonkers when an order isn't correct ("what is going on here.."). anyhow after that upon getting home...I was wondering why the confusion. The receipt said "four chicken pieces!" I hadn't paid attention to that when I was there, as I was just waiting for the number to be called out. I figured the young lady it was her job to simply enter the correct order that I wanted. Anyhow to get to the end of this. This order manipulation HAS HAPPEND TO ME BEFORE THERE, and I had gotten home and they had substitued thighs for drumsticks on my orders at least twice before. So either they are trying to save their thighs and "spread them out" (pun intended!) or they like playing these jokes on 'gringos' like me! The entire staff there( except for two ladies who are there quite a lot, but have to have some time off) are hispanic.
