I've been here more times than I can count. It's the only KFC on Maui to my knowledge. Normally I wouldn't probably post a review on a fast food establishment, but this place deserves one. Yesterday night (a Sunday), we went there around 6:30 or so. There was a line of cars in the drive through extending into the adjoining street. Also, the parking lot was nearly at capacity, with many cars having people waiting inside. I guess some decided they'd rather take their to go chances inside. Not much of an improvement, to be honest. The dining room cashier lines were all the way to the door, too. Sorry, line, not lines. There was one cashier. This cashier also appeared to be attempting to do all the expo work. When I got to the front of the line (20 minutes after walking into the door)....the cashier decided to step away and do expo work for about 5 minutes. A Mexican guy came up and told her he ordered a number seis and that he didn't get what he paid for. He got strips, said he ordered the pieces of chicken. She gave him some chicken and then he said it wasn't enough, he ordered four pieces not three. She reminded him "next time order ------" . Bad look. I put in my order and naturally the credit card machine started acting up. They have one of the worst and cheapest card readers you will find in any fast food restaurant on Maui. It's on par with the Filipino store. Speaking of Filipinos, there was a table of them sitting there for the nearly 90 minute time we were there, much of it not eating but simply loitering. Worst part is there are only 3 tables that seat more than 2 people and they chose to occupy one for almost 2 hours. My wife, who is Filipino, was embarrassed. Just the seating in this place needs a lot of work. You'd think they set it up as a date night place having 5 two-tops, two 4-tops (one for disabled patrons), and one family table (probably seats 6-8). A lot of empty dead space in the floor, too. And a mixture of old and new chairs. This after they recently redecorated the place. Seems they didn't want to get rid of the old plastic chairs for some reason. Maybe to save money? We sat at the disabled table as it was the only one available that could fit our family of four. Naturally, with the lines as long as they were, a disabled man did come in that night and we moved to the two seat tables so he could sit at the disabled table. The food is just ok. About what you expect of KFC. The staff are rarely friendly and do not do a good job of keeping the dining room clean. Multiple dirty tables and overflowing trash cans. Hard to get help at the counter as they always seem short staffed. Maybe people skipping work or showing up late a lot...not sure. When we got our food, the cashier asked if she could see my receipt. She basically expected that the order was wrong. I think the kitchen staff were pre-expoing. Sure enough, it was wrong. They gave me extra wedges instead of a biscuit I ordered, and the chicken meal was missing a piece. Once the cashier rectified the issue, she threw the extra wedges in the trash (sheesh, could have at least saved them for employees to eat) and muttered some words of frustration under her breath. I noticed she never gave me my receipt back. It was sitting on the line of the kitchen when we left. Guess she forgot. Good thing I wasn't doing travel expense reports. I always notice when we leave there is a spring device to slow the closing of the door that is hanging on by a thread. Seems dangerous like it could fall off and hit someone on the head. To sum this place up...slow service, dirty tables, average chicken, average prices, poor ambience. I'd encourage people to try Golden Coin in Wailuku, Minit Stop, or even Jollibee (new one opening in Maui Marketplace soon). I think this place needs a manager who takes their job more seriously and probably some staff who actually enjoy their job and helping people. read more

Then they rounded up my bill without asking me, saying they invested my money in KFC Foundation. Aloha, I recently returned from picking up KFC via drive they on a very large order for crew. I was disappointed that the main part of the order was wrong. Typically I can count on reliable service. I did attempt to inform KFC that over $ 45. of my order was wrong. I am very please to share that a nice person called me named Gene and was very happy to make the order right. I have been given opportunity to go back and I will be compensated with a new full order at no cost I think this shows that KFC appreciates their customers and willing to go the extra mile to make things right. For both of our sides we ordered mashed potatoes. Upon getting home we found out they gave us a container of coleslaw instead. None of us eat coleslaw. Terrible service ordered online paid $60 for the order ordered a chocolate cake was charged for it but turns out they don't even sell it at that location. Drive all the way back to be told that because they don't know how to change their phone from fax machine to phone. Then was told they can't refund the item because I did it online. So I asked for cookies instead they don't have those either even though they have a big sign out front that advertises cookies. Never again online said they can't help either. If you want to pay high prices for chicken cut into rabbit sized pieces, with only dark meat available in extra crispy...this is your place, I I should have looked at the 2 stars and decided something else would do, but we were in the area and Kentucky Fried sounded SO good! It was 6 PM: the height of dinner hour, although there was only one other customer in the store....and one more at a table. First: They don't even bother to make white meat in extra crispy: (The, "You lose, tough luck" was pretty much understood.) So our choice was regular, or...regular. We took our remarkably expensive 2 breasts, 1 thigh and 3 wings ($12.50) to a table and opened the box. Inside we found a small thigh, the three wings and two tiny KEELS. [A "keel" is a small piece of white meat derived by cutting the top off the breast, thus managing to get three or four "breast" pieces instead of two from each chicken....depending on whether the cut is made before or after the breasts are separated.] We returned to the counter and politely explained that we had ordered breast and had received "keels", not breasts. The counter lad went to the back and took a lambasting from a loud-voiced woman. He returned to tell us that those were breasts. No, they are not, I replied, and asked if the woman he had spoken to was the manager (she was). We asked that he have her come out and speak to us. Out stormed one of the most unpleasant women I have ever encountered in a "service" industry! I am not ordinarily confrontational - and my husband never is - but I grew up in a bartering society, and I can stand my ground with the best of them. She insisted the keel WAS a breast and, having encountered this situation before I equally adamantly explained that it was one HALF of the breast. In order - I suppose - to prove her case, she went to the back and came out waving the OTHER have of a breast (thus, of course, proving MY case!). I said that was PERFECT! All I wanted was two of EACH...i.e. two ENTIRE chicken breasts, as advertised, and we'd be fine! Or a refund would otherwise be just as satisfactory: we'd pay for our beverage. After some unladylike behavior, she decided that actually giving a customer their money's worth was beyond consideration, demanded our receipt - which the clerk had neglected to give us (she found it behind the register), and, ultimately, refunded the money for our overpriced, overdiced, chicken. I do have to say the restaurant is super clean and same with the restrooms are super clean. The chicken is always hot and delicious and the menu changes so you can always try new items. Since ZERO stars is not an option, I am calling my review a NEGATIVE -1 star for last night experience. At 7:40pm I arrived to KFC after dropping off family at airport, so I seldom eat KFC because I live in Kihei so its too long of a trip for me on days I crave some Original fried chicken from KFC. So anyways, I am in que front of me is 4 vehicles and 1 behind me. Mind you if I was by myself I would have already left because I did not want to wait, but my husband wanted to eat here its been awhile. So we waited and waited ...... AND WAITED I had questioned to my husband I think they close at 8pm and what do they do if vehicles have been in que long before 8pm? We even thought common sense if you are managing the place that you would check your lines right? Make sure that you still serve those customers that are in que and have been in line, right? I WAS WRONG! By the time I pulled up to the console it was 7:58 the agent greets "How can I help you?" .... Once I said Hi I would like $28 filler up she loudly said "WE NO MORE CHICKEN!!" ... WOW! Ridiculously unprofessional to just yell out they're out of chicken. I waited another 5 minutes because I wanted to speak to a Manager. I pulled up asked for a Manager and the woman at the window rolled her eyes and mumbled away. Manager Layla came up to the window and kept repeating that they close 8pm and that there is a sign. I explained to her that I understand they close 8 however I was waiting since 740p. I asked her if they check to see how many vehicles are in que and she flat out says "We thought no more cars" Well you thought wrong and probably didn't think at all about customers that waited 20 minutes. Layla tells me that I can return tomorrow for chicken. Very rude and unprofessional way to respond to customers. Before you just send people away like that KAHULUI KFC AND MANAGEMENT maybe take into consideration the distance of where people travel from because its not everyday or every week we come to that side of town. The one chance we had to eat here made it our very last visit. Manager needs management training because clearly she does not have Managerial skills when it comes to customer service. Heres a tip: 730pm check your drive thru que and make sure to serve them all because they are wasting their time in waiting. How about putting a orange cone behind the last serving vehicle so people are not sitting in drive thru assuming they will be served. Let me tell you the we're gold and dry the chicken strips must have been left over from the night before so dry and hard I couldn't eat them or the biscuits the mash potatoes were hot as well as the gravy but so salty I could eat them either the whole 28.99 meal went in the trash . I filled out the review on the receipt and asked for a refund on my c/c I will never recommend this KFC to anybody which is sad because it's the only one on Maui. Avoid it like the plague. read more

Minit stop serves miniature chicken and Safeway is hit and miss. Foodland is sometimes okay, but you have to get it fresh or you'll be chewing chicken jerky for dinner! KFC used to be pretty good, but lately, the product has been consistent. Consistently oily and soggy! You can tell it's fresh because it's hot, but it seems the crew anticipates an overload of customers, fries the chicken and immediately stores it in Warmers. When you come in for a large order, these warming pieces are soaking up the oil it's sitting in and wah Lah. Sometimes I wonder if the prices are so high because they charge for the oil we get too! And the service! I usually go drive thru. When you have coupons, especially ones emailed from the Hawaii office and the employees don't seem to know about it and begin arguing with you, something's wrong. Most of the younger employees are fine, but there's one older lady, one of the crew supervisors, who always seems to be waiting to challenge you with her trademark frown. I prefer not to eat fast food but the hubs LOVES KFC and was delighted I would allow him to get some! Food taste: It is Excellent and traditional KFC flavors down to the mashed potatoes and Cole slaw. We ordered original recipe and crispy. Crispy has slightly less original recipe flavor but overall our chicken was cooked well, not greasy and tasted great. Service: EXCELLENT!! I ordered online and picked up in the store since there is no delivery via Grubhub available at this store. Store was clean, followed Covid protocol, their dining and restroom were closed, and both times I used the gift card received a friendly greeting and staff was accommodating with my request to leave the plastic ware in the store. I ordered food through the Drive Thru. I paid for my food, and SANDRA the drive thru clerk told me to park in the parking lot, because our order would take a little time. I drive forward, and there is no access to the parking lot which is on the left side of the building. A big sign says no left turn. I had to make a right turn onto Wakea, then drive one block down to the Midas Station where I had to pull in and make a u-turn. I had to wait to make a left turn back onto Wakea, then make another left back into the KFC lot. Everybody local knows Wakea traffic in this area sucks. Thanks Sandra! Not sure if it's just me, but every time I go there, I almost never get Breasts. My bucket is filled with wings, more wings, some thighs and some drumsticks. Does that equal up to the amount I'm paying for a bucket? Hummm. I usually go drive through so you don't take notice until you're at home and open the lid. So this time I went inside one night, same thing happened. Plus, Board of Health would site them for having open containers of chips, coffee mug, container of seeds or candy next to the dip pan for the fries. This was the worst KFC I have ever been to. We stopped here after doing a helicopter tour since it was close place to eat and we were hungry. Went to use the restroom and the door did not lock. I made this aware to the lady working the register and it was like she magically forgot how to speak English. After we finished eating I went back to the restroom to wash my hands and what now?.......no lights. Lights went out in both bathrooms. Also, the music was way to loud. I had to constantly raise my voice to speak to my gf. The food was the same as any other KFC establishment on the islands.....mediocre at best.
