Even though it's a takeout-only restaurant, the location was clean, well-maintained, and organized. The service was also excellent. I recently visited Von's Chicken in Kahului again, and it reminded me why this spot always hits those chicken wings cravings just right. They're tucked away in the Maui Lani industrial area near the trampoline park with a handful of parking spots available. It's a small shop, at least their ordering area is, but their menu is surprisingly varied -- crispy wings, chicken sandwiches, Korean hot dogs, boba, and even a catering menu if you ever need to feed a crowd. I grabbed the Snow Wings again on my last visit, and wow... I forgot how good they are. Super crispy, flavorful, and just one of those "worth-it" indulgences. It is a bit on the pricier side, but honestly, good wings usually are -- and I'm absolutely willing to pay a premium for wings that deliver on flavor. I've tried a few of their other flavors, plus the tteokbokki and snow fries, but Snow is still the standout for me. Can't go wrong though in my opinion! A cute little shop that had a lot more than I expected. Lots of variety of snacks and other items. The service was nice the lady was very patient while I was being indecisive about what flavors to try so I ended up getting a few different things. Staring off with the combo to get a good variety of things it was alright their standard chicken is pretty good along with the mandu and the eggroll. The calamari was chewy and the fish wasn't that good. Next up the wings they were good with lots of flavor and stayed crispy with the sauce on it. I got the shoyu by recommendation which ended being my favorite of the two the other being the garlic. That one is sweeter and not as strong of a garlic flavor. I prefer the more savory options. Aloha All! On my latest foodie experience, I ordered a half order of the regular fried, and a half of the honey butter wings, with a side order of shoestring fries. All of it was just okay. I also don't like the powdered flavoring that they use on the honey butter wings that reminds me of powdered sugar... weird. I also ordered a Korean dog, all beef which was sort of a sweet pronto pup. I get what they're going for but again, nothing special. What was special, in a bad way, were the prices... 10 wings were $18! I suppose if they were EXCELLENT, I might be less critical. No ambiance, take out only, however; it was bright and clean and there were other Korean Foods, candies and other snacks available that may interest some. Friendly service and easy online ordering for this small shop. We ordered the regular chicken, the ugly corn dog, the tornado potato and the regular french fries. All were good, though everything was battered exactly the same, so while delicious it all pretty much tasted the same. Even the skewered tornado french fry was battered. The wings were yummy and juicy. The corn dog was good, but the batter was so thick, that was all I got in my mouth until I took a few bites and found the hot dog. Ate at this place a few times and tried the following : - crispy shoyu chicken: this is the tastiest chicken in my opinion. There is a sweetness that shoyu chicken normally has but not overbearing. Chicken was still really crispy 40 min after we ordered. Wings and mini drumsticks are the chicken types in the order. Inside was moist and cooked all the way. - honey butter: I did not like this. My husband thought it was ok. Way too sweet, kind of artificial honey and or butter taste. Chicken was cooked well though. - tteokbokki or crispy rice cakes: not bad either, but I'm not a big tteokbokki sauce fan. Slightly sweet with a gochugang flavor. Rice cakes nicely toasted with a soft inside. - green papaya salad: sorry but don't get this. Not at all like green papaya salad flavoring you'd expect. Overbearingly sweet and the sauce tastes like takuan pickled veggies or sweet radish Kim chi banchan. I do plan on visiting them after things calm down to try more flavors but I've heard nothing but horror stories of long wait times and even running out of chicken. MENU: Chicken wings in six flavors (plain, seasoned, shoyu, honey butter, snow, garlic) and two sizes (10 or 20 pieces), mandoo, fried tofu, rice cake and french fries. FOOD: Crispy Fried Shoyu Chicken - $14.95 - $27.45 I knew this'd be my favorite of the two due to its savory and slightly sweet notes. The wingettes and drummettes were crispy due to a light coating or batter, cooked to the bone and nicely seasoned. Crispy Garlic Chicken - $15.95 - $27.45 A bit sweet with mild garlic notes, this batch wasn't as crispy as the shoyu. Flavor-wise it was just okay with no boldness or wow-factor. OVERALL: Funny how chicken wings are so pricey. These guys are decent but I have my favorite go-to places for tastier wings which include Outback and Ale House aside from my home kitchen. read more

Had to jump on the bandwagon on this one & check them out within the first few days of being open. Never heard of them before, but I saw fried chicken & I was automatically in. Went early because I figured like everything else new that opens, all of Maui would be there. Parked on the street as there really are only about 4 stalls inside & they were taken. Walked up to see all those people were waiting in their car. No line inside & went with the 10 piece crispy fried chicken & crispy mandoo. We were given a buzzer & waited outside. There were quite a bit of people in front of us, so we did wait quite a bit. Got our order & took it home to Kihei. Food was still warm, however we opened the chicken to find that we got the crispy fried seasoned chicken instad. Not a big deal, but we wanted to try the plain before trying the flavors. Chicken was very crispy with good flavor, just a bit messy. The mandoo was really tasty with a yummy sauce, a bit on the small side, more of a one bite sort of deal. Make it 2 bites & the remaining filling rolls right out. I suggest you call in your order. We saw several people come in & out in a flash while we were still waiting. This new takeout restaurant is located just a few hundred feet past Ultimate Air trampoline on Laa Street. There isn't much to the restaurant other than to say that they make tasty fried chicken. They serve wings and drumsticks. They are not the big pieces like at Jollibee. They have meals and side orders, and we opted for side orders of the snow and honey butter chicken. It had a nice blend of sweet and saltiness. The chicken appears to be twice fried for crispness and then quickly coated with flavoring. They also have the Korean fried chicken, but we decided to try something different. There is ample street parking if the lot is full. I would highly recommend ordering by phone and allow about an hour for your order, as the place has gotten quite popular. read more

A large colorful menu picture board lists fried, glazed, plates, sandwiches, and sides. A clean bright counter refer holds salads. A Very friendly cashier described selections. 10 crisp (half order) moist lightly battered pieces for $14.00-16.00 = around $1.50 each. The wait is 10-15 minutes in the narrow space, unless you're smarter than me and order ahead of time. I brought the Garlic wings home and it was piping hot. The wings were moist, crispy and covered with a garlic glaze. Not huge, but 3-4 pieces each go a long way for lunch if you've got a little salad or starch. I'm so happy that Maui finally has a Vons! I recently tried this restaurant in Oahu and I couldn't get enough of it. This place is kinda of hidden to find because of their small sign. To find this restaurant you need to drive past Ace Hardware and it'll be on your left. Parking is very limited and there is no indoor seating. Take out orders ONLY. My go to order will always be the crispy fried chicken. Today we got the half order of honey butter and half order of the crispy. After ordering you get a buzzer and wait outside. I recommend calling in your order because I went during my lunch break and it took almost 30 minutes. If I didnt go during lunch rush hour then I guess it wouldn't have been a long wait. Von's is one of my favorite fried chicken shops because they know how to cook crispy, tender, juicy chicken. The price is great for the amount you get! The staff here are so nice & friendly. When arrived to the restaurant I was greeted and helped right away. They also sell salads, pickled veggies, etc. from a local business called Yeong Suks. Seems like they have a lot of kinks to work out, which is expected with a new business. The lady at the register stated that the internet at their location is really bad, causing orders not to be communicated to the kitchen correctly. I overheard the worker talking to someone who ordered food for a celebration and the order was not ready for her. Therefore, they had to get their food elsewhere. That's a total bummer. Can this fried chicken chain be different from others? YES! Korean based style of chicken with the crunch when you bite into it is unexplainable and deliciously juicy. We called ahead of time to order and was quoted it would be ready in 20 minutes. We ordered a 1/2 order each of crispy fried shoyu chicken and snow wing chicken. A side order of crispy spicy chicken, crispy mandoo, and once each of mild and spicy crispy rice cake. We all enjoyed it our meal. There was barely any talking as we savored each bite. I finally went yesterday. The nice cashier said the crispy teriyaki is very popular. Right on! I want 10 pieces. They cook it when you order. Fresh. As I drove home 10 mins away, my car filled up w a strange smell. Finally, we sat in my lanai to eat. The smell was coming from old oil or something. I wonder if they change oil every hr, every 2hrs, every day? After one piece, we threw the rest away. Inedible. We thought KFC was declining. This place falls in the bottom 10%. While I was waiting, I witnessed wrong orders; returns. If it weren't for the rancid oil, the chicken would have been ok; I want to go there again and try all their offerings but I'm unsure whether the oil is old or not. Yasssssssssss! I wasn't thrilled about the craze when they first opened but I'm officially in a Von's phase as I've been here a handful of times in the past few weeks. They can get busy so I definitely recommend ordering online for pick up so you don't have to wait cause their parking lot is a little tight with limited stalls but there's lots of street parking. Workers are really friendly and give you a buzzer to wait in your car if you order there. The space isn't that big inside so it doesn't take many people for it to feel crowded. Their chicken is so tasty and not skimpy in size or sauce. My favorite has to be the garlic chicken! I love their fries and gyoza too. So light and crispy. I appreciate it not being oily. I finally tried a Korean dog here. A little on the pricey side compared to other ones I've tried but I'd like to think it's a smidge larger in size and enough batter to coat the hot dog/cheese and not thick. So worth it for me. This location is in an industrial section and can be easy to pass if you're not paying attention but not much traffic in the area so ok to reverse or turn around lol.
