We were greeted by two lion statues. The interior seating are high tops and booths. There are single restrooms, with the toilet very close to your nose. You should stand straight up. The garlic parm chicken tenders were delicious, and the breading stayed strong even after being coated. The burger was definitely warm and juicy, it went with the overall bar.

Took a solid ten minutes to get noticed, but no real waitstaff. Bartender was running all over, back and forth, serving tables and tending the bar. Felt really bad for her. But then long periods of nothing happening. Took about 20 minutes to get our burgers. Food was served, but no silverware on the table, had to get up and ask for them at the bar. The food: not sure I love the herbs on the fries. It said truffle fries but I didn't get any truffle flavor whatsoever. Burger was a little too well done for a medium, but the quality of the meat was good. The burger bun on top felt cold, while the insides were toasty. That was odd. Bacon felt like it was prepped much earlier in the day, so it was more like beef jerky, and didn't have a soft freshly cooked texture. Overall, good experience, but I was hoping that this was the "IT" burger place for me, when I get the hankering for a burger. My buddy had a Salmon burger. He said it was excellent, but also complained the "truffle fries' were not truffle fries at all. Next time I will try something different. I really like the vibe here and the doors being open wide gave it a very NYC/Brooklyn small neighborhood vibe.

We've been struggling to find a great restaurant in Torrington. Somewhere where the service and the…read morefood are excellent and well worth the price- Sasso's exceeded our expectation. We live around the area kept saying to ourselves throughout the night "why haven't we been here before? We've been missing out on such good food" There seems to be a lot of seating both inside and outside so that's a plus since we were able to get seated right away without a reservation on a Friday night. (they were already pretty busy) Our waitress was so friendly and super attentive even with all the tables she had. Now on to the food! Everything was cooked to perfection and beautifully plated. You could tell that whoever is cooking genuinely cares about the food that is coming out of that kitchen. To start we ordered the Spinach Artichoke Dip w/ Garlic Parm Crostini and the Antipasto Salad. (Not pictured) Everything came out in great portions to share and even the crostinis were packed full of flavor which brought the dip up another notch. The salad was fresh, colorful and absolutely delicious. For our entree we both ordered the Steak Frites-cooked medium. Both of our steaks were cooked to perfection and the chimichurri was herby, savory and even had a little bite to it-it was phenomenal. To add to the mix the frites had parm & garlic to make them even tastier To finish, after a very long day- we knew that an affogato would just finish this meal off perfectly and we were right. It was delicious and the candied walnuts were such a nice touch to add for texture. (My husband now has a new favorite dessert) Needless to say we will absolutely be back, and more than likely bringing many others in tow to share an absolutely wonderful meal!

Delicious food, nice setting. Salads were large and really fresh, our group got three types and…read moreshared.

"Anthony works in the grocery store Savin' his pennies for…read moresomeday" (Billy Joel) Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to tonight's main event, the Chef Salad Rumble. In this corner is the last Chef Salad I reviewed, hailing from Granby CT, let's hear it for Gio's Brick Oven Pizzeria & Pub. And in the far corner is this week's challenger, hailing from Torrington, CT, let's hear it for Anthony's Restaurant. Anthony's sells their Chef Salad in two sizes -$9.95 and $13.95. We went for the "small" at $9.95.and the word "small" is an understatement. Their small is LOADED with 11 ounces of ham, turkey, roast beef, and provolone. I know it was 11 ounces, because that thick log of deli was so huge, I couldn't believe it, so I weighed it on my food scale. That's more than 2/3 of a pound of stuff, over a big salad of lettuce, cucumber, big tomato slices, shredded carrots, and a full hard boiled egg. Oh, and it comes with two big slices of fresh Italian bread, so the "small" easily gave us two big portions. So how does last week's Gio's salad compare. Well, if this was a boxing match the referee would have stopped the contest. Gio's cost $10.99, didn't include bread, and the serving of cold cuts paled in comparison to what we got at Anthony's. So Anthony's Chef Salad cost less than Gio's and gave us a ton of more stuff. Anthony's is a very cool little family restaurant with seafood, pasta, veal, chicken, and steak entrees, along with grinders, paninis, pizzas, and the salads. If I lived in Torrington, I'd sure be a regular.
