I've been here many, many times, and I can't believe I haven't written a review on them yet. All the workers there are so nice and sweet, I enjoy coming here, the place is always so clean and very well-kept. The ambiance is Thai without being in your face about it. The subtle Asian touches throughout the restaurant give it a nice classy feel when you enter. To me, this is the hidden Gem of Torrington. Being featured in a Litchfield Magazine has given this amazing place the notoriety it deserves. My date and I are always greeted very warmly and immediately without ever waiting and we get to pick which seats we'd like. The restaurant is BYOB, and there's a liquor store conveniently pretty much next door. They bring wine glasses, cups of ice, anything you could need, they'll have and all you have to do is just ask politely. The appetizers are all so very good, my favorites are the Fresh Spring Rolls, Fried Spring Rolls, Chicken Satay, and Crab Rangoons. Everything tastes so freshly homemade and just bursting with flavors. The Fresh Spring Rolls have pork and shrimp in them with the perfect ratio of rice noodles and lettuce inside giving the perfect textures of soft, chewy, the crispness of the veggies. The dipping sauce is like a sweet chili sauce and together they taste amazing. The Fried Spring Rolls are also delicious, fried to golden perfection, they come hot, and it is so hard to wait to eat them. I love these rolls because they are so crispy and crunchy, the filling is light and flavorful without being overwhelmed by cabbage like you would get from a Chinese restaurant. The Chicken Satay is just beautiful, They are grilled to perfection as you can see from the grill marks, I love that slight char, it gives it a more authentic Thai flavor for sure. They come with two dipping sauces and both are delicious and a must try of both. One is cucumber with a little bit of spice and sweetness and the other is a peanut butter-based sauce. The Crab Rangoons are so good here. I feel like they have more flavor here than anywhere else. They taste more cheesy with a burst of umami flavors. For my Entree, I almost always get the Pad See Eww Beef. I've had this dish from many places but this particular one stands out. The sauce they use gives it a deeper and richer flavor than anywhere else. And the noodles it's almost like they must make them there because they taste so fresh and have that perfect firm softness, with a slight chew that delights my tastebuds oh so very much. The Pho here is a must-try if you are a lover of Pho. The flavors in it are so much more pronounced than in other places that I have been. The broth has that sweet, salty, and savory umami flavor that marries together so well in this dish. The perfect amount of noodles to meat ratio. The serving is more than enough to make sure you leave with a very full belly if you can eat it all. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back for more!

Outstanding! Thai is my favorite cuisine and they do a great job. I need to try the drunken noodles next time. They look amazing. The Tom Yum Gai had the expected mushrooms, scallions, and coriander and the broth was perfect. They loaded it with local vegetables. Tomato, onion, sweet pepper strips, even carrots (?) not authentic but I liked the additions. Their homemade thai sausage was excellent. It came with broccoli and more local peppers and carrots. Their hot chili sauce was good. I love sticky rice and theirs did not disappoint. I will definitely return. Highly recommended.

Wowwwww the food is delicious! We stumbled upon this Thai/Lao restaurant on our way to the Berkshires from NYC. It is at par to authentic restaurants in the city. The portion is good and is well balanced with meat and vegetables! There is a grocery shop in this plaza which makes this a great stop for road trip. Will definitely come back!

Food was very good. The dishes were generous and flavorful. Spring rolls were crispy very good with duck sauce provided. Chicken stray was accompanied by a peanut sauce which complemented the grilled chicken nicely. Main dish the pork curry nice and perfect spicy level, sweet and sour chicken with sticky rice was good. Pineapple rice was excellent the cashews were roasted fresh and crispy complainants well contrasting the sweetness of the pineapple and well seasoned rice. All was good will definitely return

Super high ceilings, few tables and chairs that look like they were rescued from the side of the road. The cooling area in the center back of the room. Some cool graffiti art I guess. We got the pork belly bao. That was tasty with many toppings but barely any pork belly. Also the beef pho. A couple bites/ sips and my husband could not eat it (that NEVER happens). He tried adding more spices but the broth was bland and the noodles just tasteless. The beef was very tough it was hard to chew. He just felt there was something wrong with it so didn't even let me have any as I am pregnant and avoiding food poisoning. We are foodies so this was disappointing and a big waste of money. It's a shame. Probably won't risk going back and trying something else. :(

Two thumbs up for the ambiance because the place is huge. I feel like a lot of restaurants get a bunch of business via DoorDash these days so there are people who are really hungry and hunger makes the best sauce. I directed one DoorDash delivery person towards the correct door while I was there.

They did seem to do quite a bit of takeout. It's located in a little strip mall right off route 8 in Torrington so it's super easy to access! The food was so good! We split crab rangoons and scallion pancakes and they were so fresh and didn't have that greasy/oily after taste that a lot of places have. Our waitress was so kind and explained one of the dishes to me and actually showed me how to use chopsticks as I wasn't quite grasping it from reading the instructions on the wrapper. They also were super nice chopsticks and not the cheap wooden ones that sometimes splinter! For our entrees my boyfriend had three different sushi rolls, the Godzilla the, the mermaid and the volcano and said they were all really good! They also were huge so we ended up taking half of it home. I had the Chicken Yaki Udon which is basically stir fried udon noodles with chicken and veggies in a sweet soy type sauce. Our waitress asked if we wanted ice cream at the end and it was the perfect way to end the meal! Everyone was so kind and the food was so good that we will definitely be back!!

It's not too often I get to go back and revisit my reviews, but yesterday I think I've had enough…read morechange in opinion about ThaiBowL (still can't get over that capital L) that I think an update is an order. This was originally review 148 (149 if you want to count the one review I had that had been deleted) out of all the reviews I've done. Before I get into what changed, I will point to the one thing I stand most by: the Crab Rangoon. This time I had it served to me on a plate, with a separate section for the plum sauce, and this time I had a small pile of shredded carrot and a leaf or two of greens. My opinion about the Crab Rangoon remains the same, which is to say they're outstanding. The plum sauce I've come to learn is the sweetest part of the dish and was a big reason as to how the dish ended up being so sweet. The filling to breading ratio is top-notch, the breading is crispy without feeling like I'm eating mushy bread, and the flavor of the filling is divine. So into what changed. You might have gotten the hint when I talked about the plating of the Crab Rangoon, but I dined in this time, and honestly, it's much better to eat this in the restaurant than to just go to the take-out window. If you have time and are in Watertown, I would definitely recommend parking your car and coming in. It's a cozy interior that's very casual. It's not quite at the level of fine dining, but it is still an intimate place to eat, maybe even romantic. It's very well-decorated, and the employees here are very friendly. Would I say they treat you like family? Ehhhhh..... I don't know about that one, but maybe the next step down it's a little clearer. As for what else I had this time around, please give a warm welcome to the Thai Iced Coffee, the Red Duck Curry with white rice, and the Fried Ice Cream! The Red Curry is spicy, but not unbearably so. The Iced Coffee actually pairs perfectly with this to cool down the heat (I actually had to order 2 of those coffees believe it or not). The duck was crispy and tender at the same time and the vegetables in the curry were for the most part great. My only knock on the dish would be the eggplant. That did come out mushy, but luckily there were only like 2 slices of it, so it wasn't a big deal. You can use the spoon they provide to ladle some of that sauce onto the rice, which actually gives the rice more flavor. As for the Iced Coffee, it was a great coffee and I would definitely have this iced coffee any time I come here and have one of their curries. Does it carry the whole meal on its own? No. But as a drink to help balance things out, it's a winner. As for the fried ice cream, they did phenomenal. You actually have to let the ice cream melt slightly to get into it because the ice cream inside the coating is still cold enough to be hard to cut into with a spoon. But it was a delicious dessert to end things off on. I would like to have this with chocolate ice cream, but that's just a personal preference and not sure how that would work. lol I think now that I've had the full restaurant experience here, I can safely say I was a little harsh giving this a 4 the last time around, and even that was still a good meal. The ambiance, the service, and the fact I got to try more things I ended up liking enough to recommend to others was enough for me to bring this up to the full 5. This will definitely be my Waterbury area option for Thai food going forward.

One got the sense that the other diners that evening felt much the same way. It was a weeknight, and with a lower customer load than might be the case on a Friday or weekend, she had ample time to spend with each party, regaling us all with fun conversation. It goes without saying that the company in one's own party makes a whale of a difference, and in that regards I could not have asked for better. This is to take nothing away from the food, which was absolutely delicious, flavorful and mercifully not too spicy - our aging gastrointestinal systems are sadly just not up for the violent torment from a chilli assault like when we were younger, and felt invincible. The mango rice dessert - enough for two to split - was sublime. And the town of Naugy itself - for both of us an unknown quantity til that evening despite having whizzed past it a ton on Route 8, hammering down the famous Naugahyde River Valley - is intriguing. Naugatuck offers gorgeous and fascinating architecture from the last two centuries at least, evidence of thriving mill-driven industry in years past, very easy access from the highway, and lots of close on-street parking, at least on a Thursday evening. BYOB if you are that way inclined, as they don't have a liquor license. Will we be back to Chiangmai Thai? Abso-frikkin-lutely. I've you've already been, then go back again, and soon.
