This review is for Fan #110. This was my first guided experience with Bangladeshi food. My ambassador held a program here, showing us his Best Bangladeshi and Bangladeshi-Chinese restaurant in New York City. Lots of fish are served here, as the culture is heavily influenced by waterways throughout the country. It's different from Indian because most people from Bangladesh are Muslim, therefore have no problem eating beef and other meats (no pork). This is a special restaurant though. The kebabs are pretty ridiculous, showing up as gnarly looking things potentially scorching your insides. I loved the chicken samosas - these curried things had sooo much flavor. You'll find lots of vegetable dishes because fruits have a hard time growing in the terrain - that's okay, because as something I don't normally eat, I was a big fan of all the mixed vegetable dishes. I learned about a dessert here called Ghorer Sandesh. It's extremely rare, nearly like a fudge of the south (Asia). It's not too sweet like many indian sweets, and makes me feel like I'm in one of those touristy sweet shops in Pennsylvania, "How quaint." The steam table selection numbers around 16 options, and there's plenty of room. You'll know this place from the bicycled rickshaw in front. I never was blown away by Spicy Mina, I dig it here. Must go back for more fish.

giant river prawn curry, mashed dried fish (shutki bhorta) and mashed smoked egg plant (begun bhorta), chicken biryani

I had the Gawlda Chingri (giant river prawns aka Macrobrachium rosenbergi) , Shutki Bhorta (mashed dried fish), Begun Bhorta (smoked mashed egg plant) and Chicken Biryani (curry chicken fried rice :) ) . The river prawn was fabulous, large claws, head and all :). The Shutki and Begun were good. The Chicken Biryani was average. The side complimentary salad was below average. I picked this over other places because it had the prawn the bhorta and was relatively clean and empty. The staff was friendly and helpful. The prawn was a tad expensive, but worth it :) There is convenient sink with warm water to wash hands after the messy claw eating.

    The restaurant environment.

The place is nasty. Do not eat here. The food isn't clean. It took very long to get service and the tables were nasty. They had other people's food left on the table and the waiter told us to sit there before they cleaned up. Also when we got the food the food was frozen cold. When we received the bill they charged us for things that we never ordered. We ordered a naan but we never received it either.

They're trying to tell me this is sesame chicken! Where is the sesame! This is 100% Szechwan chicken. I threw it away.

Dominic was absolutely amazing 1000/10, I believe he knew it was my first time he was very patient with my girlfriend and myself. With an amazing smile and was just happy to help. He helped me pronounce the food items I couldn't get correct. Overall he gave me choices and options that were great that I really enjoyed. I don't remember the bartender names but he was great as well. His drinks were perfectly blended I felt like I was on vacation on a beach having them. But when I come back I definitely want to choose them! Ambiance was LUXURIOUS. Very clean, utensils were very clean as if it the a grand opening. I love the aesthetics and the color coordination and to the plates and silverware. Overall I recommend anyone especially if it's your first time. The people hear are amazing food is even better. 100/10 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The place has undergone quite a few changes, as well as physically moving, over the past three decades. It now sits in a more modern, smaller space. We met friends there for dinner. We started with the samosas, which were thick and filled with potatoes and peas and so satisfying, especially with a dabble of tamarind sauce. For our main meal we had the Goad Kadai, which was excellent, along with the Chicken Lajawab, the Chicken Korma, the Chicken Biryani, and the Paneer Kadai, all of which were proclaimed "very good." Service here is always excellent. From the minute you sit down, when we were given Indian crackers and dips, throughout the meal. You don't even have to ask for containers for the leftovers. They are brought to you as soon as the servers notice you are done eating and there is food leftover. Dinner for four with five entrees, a beer, an appetizer, tax, and tip was around $152.

All of us had eaten here and seven always ate here when shopping in Jackson Heights. I am not one of them. Appetizers, curries and naans were ordered. Cocktails of Mai Tai and Margheritas were being drunk with joy. I only liked the mango lassi which was served in a tall fluted glass and was refreshing. All the curries had the same flavor which my friends realized that the cuisine here was pseudo authentic. We skipped dessert as we had brought chocolates to share. Sharon, the lovely server who has been here for ten years was patient and pleasant.

The food types are similar but offer different spice/flavor profiles. They have a large section of noodles, soup, and rice. A veggie section with various combos of cauliflower, potatoes, onion, bamboo, blackened peas, mustard greens, and spices. Some of the Indian dishes: paneer butter masala, palak paneer, chicken tikka masala. Some of the appetizers include crispy tofu, fried soybeans, a Nepali snack platter with marinated meat, goat, beef tripe, sliced beef tongue, fried jerky, duck. They also have a momo section. We had their famous chicken lollipops (essentially fried chicken) and it was crispy and spicy (in a good way). We also had sadeko (marinated or tossed) bacon, which was rich and tender. I had one of their Nepali cocktails, which was pleasantly spicy (the chatpata aam, made with tequila, spicy chatpatey syrup, and mango puree). Service was attentive. Inside is cozy, lots of dark wood and colorful flags. They also often have entertainment in the evening, so I would love to return to hear some live music while trying more Nepali cuisine.

The place isn't huge but it is a good size and was able to accommodate us. There were many appetizers on the table that were very delish. A hit for me were the seasoned potatoes, Aloo Dum (dry). I ordered the Shogo Ngopa and decided to go with tingmo instead of the white rice. Trying something new! Also ordered a mango lassie. Food came out fresh, warm and delicious. The tingmo reminded me to a steamed bun with out the filling but with layers. Everything was good. Everyone was friendly and kept our water glasses filled. At 9pm there was live music which was a nice treat. They even sang happy birthday to our friend. Nice place and will definitely try again!
