Dr. Khalili saved my life is well. I was at 275 lbs and a general practitioner doctor had told me that if I continued the way I was, I would be dead in two years.I appreciate the Khalili Center and Cedars-Sinai because of the intense scrutiny that they took over my surgery and the care they took with me during the surgery and through the after-care period. It has been fabulous. The nursing staff at the Cedars and the KHALILI Center are efficient, trained, professional yet warm kind and considerate. The psychological preparation was more necessary than I ever imagined. Since the original surgery in 2007, I am stable at 161 pounds with few side effects and I no longer have Diabetes. This process changed my life. I now believe I have another 20 years. FYI, if you do this, be aware some people in your life might not accept the NEW YOU, prepare ahead! Since the bypass, Dr. Khalili has also repaired a hernia for me and neither surgery shows any scaring. Dr. ENYATI, an associate at the center, was able to assist me with a gallbladder attack. A scary event that was successfully treated and hopefully is my past. In this weekend emergency, I received immediate call-backs from the staff followed by next day appointments and care. I find the doctors at the Khalili Center extremely up to date, professional, caring and warm and this is unusual. I do need to make you aware that since it is a private bariatric center, you need to get your insurance approval before committing to surgeries still, the process is easy and the efficient amazing staff will make it seem a minor distraction. I an not here for any sort of baraiatric surgery, I was referred to Dr Enayati for my stomach issues / problems. Dr Enayati has a great bedside manner and is very pleasant. He made me feel at ease and didn't try to give me the runaround. My girlfriend's husband has Crohn's and he's had such terrible luck with Drs, she urged me to push the doctor I saw to look into something more than IBS. I was in luck, he did not dismiss me. I didn't even have to ask for it, he just suggested I run some tests, ASAP. He's youngish which I like since he's more UTD on new methods of things. Another great thing is that the surgical center / place I'm getting my tests done is in the same building / same floor. The office is very clean, very modern and organized. The staff is very efficient and friendly. I did however find the size of the chairs (or rather oversize) strange. The chairs are like 2/3 of a love seat. Then I realized most people aren't coming in here weighing 120 or less pounds... So even though I was swimming in that chair it's probably nice for someone that needs the extra space (at least until after the surgery). read more

I had Gastric Bypass surgery with Dr. Khalili August 1, 2011. I have been through a rollercoaster of emotions and health changes, but the center and their staff has been with me and supported me every step of the way! The staff is amazing and never treat you as if you are someone else's patient, Dr. Basseri and Dr. Nishi have helped me if I ever needed it just as if I was their patient and not just Dr. Khalili's. Dr. Shaye has also been my saviour on several occassions as I struggle with some gastrointestinal difficulties post surgery. Michelle, the patient liason and meeting guru is a Godsend. She remembers you from the first time she meets you, and will follow-up with you from then on. I am currently on my 5th month since my surgery and life is great. At first I was very worried about the lap band being more of a blockage not allowing you to eat at all. And I was always worried, very worried that I would not be satisfied after a meal, but after every time I get it a filling (filling the band) it feels as if my stomach it self has shrunk, I eat about half of what I ate before and I am satisfied. I think a couple more fillings and I will be set for life. I eat almost everything I ate before. Some of these foods are not part of the diet for the lap band, so if you are thinking or do have the lap band do not listen to me, I am crazy. Here is some examples, before I would eat 1 1/2 Subway sandwiches at one sitting, now I am down to half a sub and I get the same feeling. At Tommys Hamburger I would take down about 2 Double Chili Cheeseburgers with frees, now I only get one Cheeseburger with maybe a couple fries. I get the same feeling of fullness that I would before, just a couple hours later I do not feel too bad about it. Although I have not followed almost none of the lap band rules or diet plan my doctor has not given up on me and is putting me back on the right track, I am a very hard person to work with. I am that kid that touches the stove after told not to. I can not began to tell you how happy I am with Doctor Besseri! I still have a long way to go, I have lost over 20LBS with no changes to my life style, I think once I wake up and follow the diet I will be super! read more

I had gastric bypass surgery about two years ago with Dr. Khalili. Since then I've lost about 80lbs. I was severely diabetic.. I use to take 12 medications a day, 4 shots and 8 oral. In just four days out I was off ALL meds and diabetic free. Best decision I've ever made in my life. All of the doctors here genuinely care, they are sincere, and all have empathetic attitudes. After writing this post, I was contacted by the director of the Khalili Center, with whom I had made the original "settlement" with after learning that they in fact did not accept my insurance. He was extremely apologetic about the additional outlay and agreed to refund the money to me, which was greatly appreciated. As I mentioned in my original post, I think everyone I interacted with at the Khalili Center, including Dr. Enayati, were excellent practitioners. I do simply recommend that you fully understand to what extent they accept your insurance to avoid the issues that I experienced. read more

The doctor, his staff, the facility is 5 diamond. while i wasn't able to stay at The Pearl recovery center, I was taken care of and I love love, love Dr. K. I had gastric bypass surgery with Dr. Basseri in November 2011. Since then I have lost 200 lbs. Yes, I said 200, that is not a typo(message me if you would like to see before and after photos). I was very big. I don't know where to start with this review, but I have to say that the care given to me, before AND after surgery, by EVERYONE at the Khalili Center was amazing(for lack of a MUCH better word). To start, I was petrified to have weight loss surgery, or any surgery for that matter, as I had never had surgery in my life. I met with the doctors and starting attending weekly support groups run by the Center in their Beverly Hills office over the months leading up to my surgery. There I had all my questions and concerns answered not only by the doctors, but by actual patients who had gone through this surgery themselves. They let me know what to expect and took me step by step through the process. By the time surgery day rolled around, most of my fears has subsided, and I was ready. I cannot emphasize any more just how supportive the doctors and everyone at the Khalili Center were towards me. My surgery day came and went without a hitch. I have had no complications at all since my surgery either. One of the best things about Khalili Center also has to be their comprehensive aftercare program. I continue to attend weekly support group meetings, and could not recommend Khalili Center any higher to someone considering gastric bypass or weight loss surgery. Dr. Basseri and the other doctor's always have time to talk, and they even host a walk once a month in the area by their offices(where former patients come and walk with the doctors on a Sunday morning). They are very hands on and care about their patients and their aftercare. If you are considering weight loss surgery, this IS the place for you. Trust me... I took my husband to Dr. Nishi for a hernia related pain a few weeks ago after finding him on google. I got a same day appt after telling Deborah that my husband was in pain. Dr. Nishi was very pleasant and put my husband at ease after seeing how nervous my hubby was. After our appt they scheduled the surgery for 7/31. A special shout out for Mariam who helped my hubby post operation:)))). She was very caring and made sure he was fine before he was discharged. After two days my husbands pain and bp was so bad I tried calling their office to talk to A dr on call but it just said call 911 if its an emergency. I had no choice but to call 911. Why don't they have an On call Dr? My husband stayed in the hospital for 4 days with extreme pain and distended stomach. After the hospital surgeon tried reaching him Dr. Nishis partner called to tell me what the hospitality already told me and that Dr. Nishi was on a cruise. So what is a good experience? Definitely not! It has been 6 days and my husband still in so much pain. Would I recommend the center? Definitely not. read more

I've had two billing issues or errors since I went only one time. I feel the office would have to be much more professional and organized for me to ever visit again. They came highly recommended and Dr Basseri seems very good. But the amount of misinformation and inconsistencies between what they say and what is actually billed, and them losing my payment history, and also using third party company for their billing and labs. I do not as a rule write reviews and this is a mixed review and having difficulty rating. I agree with others who have written glowing reviews of the staff at the Khalili Center. The staff are pleasant and one is treated as an individual. That being said, I had the lap band surgery 1.5 years ago and have lost over 130 pounds, however, the weight loss has been independent of the treatment at the Khalili Center. The lap band was deflated 4 months after the surgery, so most of the weight loss has been due to my own efforts. To start, the pre surgery information was non existent in my case. A 3 ring binder was the entire patient information given to me on my initial visit. Several months (4.5) past before I had the surgery. My pre op visit centered around payment and not how to prepare for the surgery. The day of my surgery, I did not see my surgeon at all, neither before or after. My procedure was to be out patient but as a result of complications, I was admitted. Never saw my surgeon in the 24 hours I spent at the hospital. I did see one of his associates, who stood at the doorway with a resident and asked about bowel movements, not what was happening! Left the hospital the following morning unclear as to post op instructions. Needless to say, I was extremely upset with my initial care and experience with the Khalili Center. Not being shy, I did contact the Center with my concerns....particularly as I did not want another patient to experience the same treatment.....all the glitz and glamor of the office does not negate poor treatment. The staff responded immediately to my concerns. Although we got off to a rocky start, subsequent treatment and visits were excellent. All of the physicians with whom I have had contact have been responsive and professional. read more

I had the most pleasant experience for my first (hopefully only) surgery. All the nurses and medical staff at the K & B Surgical Center were very gentle and caring throughout the whole experience. The center itself was clean, welcoming and comfortable. The anesthesiologist was brilliant and made me feel at ease. I can't rave enough about Dr. Funk. I have been going to the Khalili Center since its inception about 2 years ago. I feel extremely blessed knowing that there are doctors out there that sincerely care for your well being. This is the only doctors office that I have been to that I feel truly welcomed. The whole staff always adheres to the highest standards of service. As for the physicians...Dr. Khalili, Dr. Nishi, and Dr. Basseri. They are extremely superb. They go out of their way to make sure that you are well taken care off. More than anything I have this enormous trust in their capabilities as surgeons. I love the Khalili Center, I have never been treated with such respect and dignity as I was with this center of doctors and staff. I work in the Healthcare industry and expected to be treated indifferent by the doctors as they treat me where I work. But it was nothing like that, I felt so at ease not only with the doctors but the entire staff treats everyone like an old friend, I feel so comfortable there. I only wish that I lived closer, but I would travel to experience this from any distance. If your considering any kind of weight loss surgery, I couldn't imagine not going to The Khalili Center, they are one of the only places I have ever heard any good results and remarks about. I had gastric bypass surgery, RNY, my surgeon was Dr. Kai Nishi, one of the kindest most personable doctors I have ever had the pleasure to meet. My surgery was in October 2010, I am coming up on my 2 years and have lost 130 pounds and feel like an entirely new person! A much better, healthier and more alive person. Really top-notch medical facility! The entire staff from the receptionist on up, including the nursing staff, psychologist, dietician and doctors are awesome! You can tell they really care about their patients. They also have outstanding communications and interpersonal skills. I recently had a colonoscopy and endoscopy performed by Dr. Enayati. The entire staff at the KB Surgery Center in Beverly Hills were also awesome as well as the Anesthesiologist included in the procedures. I was really nervous going in but was quickly put at ease. I couldn't be happier with this clinic. Not only is the whole staff amazing but the doctors are incredible. It's very nice that when being seen you don't feel like the doctor is rushing out to see another patient nor are you sitting in the waiting room for long periods of time. After I posted this review I was contacted by Michael from The Khallili Center. He apologized and said the last thing they want is for me to feel alone in this situation. He said they would continue to see me at the rate I had been paying up 'til then. I am very grateful that the office will help me, and I did know that Dr. K would never have wanted me to go without care since I had been his patient for close to ten years. The problem was I wasn't allowed to communicate with Dr. Khallili or anyone else. I was told by the office manager NO and there wasn't anywhere else to go. Dr. Khalili has been my doctor since 2002 and has since performed three surgeries on my abdomen. The last surgery was gall bladder removal as I came in through Cedars ER in a lot of pain. I had an ERCP that same night and since it was the weekend, I had to wait until Monday to have the gall bladder removed. Dr. Basseri was to do the surgery on Monday, but when he told Dr. Khalili I was the patient, Dr. Khalili asked to perform the surgery himself on Tuesday as he was out of town Monday. That was special. Dr. Basseri came to see me every day in the hospital and was very knowledgeable and kind. He also has a terrific bedside manner, but that is not surprising being that he is an associate of Dr. Khalili. He is a very friendly and caring gentlemen. While no one works for free, you can tell that Dr. Khalili does his job for the love of helping people, not just for the money. You will be immediately comforted by his presence and his expertise. This man knows what he is doing and how to get everything done. In 2010, he left his office at Cedars and opened a surgery center called The Khalili Center and has 30 doctors and other staff on board. His team was hand chosen as only the best and most knowledgeable work with/for Dr. Khalili. There will never be a time when you hang up the phone and shake your head after dealing with office staff as they are very friendly and knowledgeable as well. This place was amazing! Today I had a surgery and Dr. Basseri was one-of-a-kind. From the front office Sonya to the two nurses Shoshana and Sarah, I could not have had a better experience for something that I was long overdue for (hernia surgery), and basically dreading. The office is beautiful clean spacious and very modern. The surgery was quick painless and amazingly well done.The doctor and his team are top-of-the-line and I would recommend this office to anyone who needed any sort of gastric surgery. Like Ryan O.'s review, my review is long overdue... Very impressive place, extremely nice people, then the date was to be set for surgery and "oh by the way it's going to cost you $30,000". They took a lot from me the day they casually mention this news to me. Plus the endoscopy they already had performed - that I thought was covered - was not...bills coming in the mail for $10000 plus dollars. I am a mother of four, I'm on a tight budget, all of which I expressed. I was only trying to better myself to have a future. This was (I felt) my last ditch effort to get well weight wise and they toyed with me. Now I owe all this money and am in a way worse place than I was before going there. I had been researching different weight loss alternatives for about 2 years now. I had multiple consultations and spoke with many people about Bariatric surgery. Never in those two years was I fully convinced until I went to the Khalili Center in Beverly Hills. The staff is amazing! The girls were super sweet and were with me every step of the way. I first met with The therapist and nutritionist and they were awesome! Dr. Shaye was my gastroenterologist and Dr. Basseri was my surgeon. These men are caring, professional and very helpful men. They weren't short or rude like doctors usually are. They always looked me in the eye and never gave me the run around. I had my surgery on Monday and Dr. Basseri was a sweetheart! He was very nice and was a total gentleman with my mom, best friend and my girlfriend who were all there to support me on that day. He asked them if they had any questions and personally went out to them when the surgery was over to let them know we were done. He even told them what to expect from my recovery the next couple of days. Kim (their nurse) called me in the afternoon to check up on me and Dr. Basseri called me personally at night. They have been checking up on me and have been addressing all my questions. I had the Lap Band done and they took care of everything with my insurance so I wouldn't have to worry. They updated me frequently on the status of my approval and once the insurance approved me, they gave me a call right away. Overall, this place is by far the best you can hope for. My decision to place myself in the capable hands of Dr Khalili and his exceptional team has provided me the opportunity to have a quality of life I truly believed was beyond my reach. From my first experience with the center when I called and spoke with Dorothy, Dr. Khalili's business manager and instantly knew I was speaking with someone who would make sure I had the best experience possible. I came to the Khalili Center for gallbladder removal. I was interested in this facility as Dr. Nishi uses a robot and only one incision in your navel. I am an ER RN in the San Fernando Valley and am unaware of any surgeon in my area that does this surgery with one incision. After an initial delay while my insurance was verified, I had my procedure at the K and B surgical center. The staff treats you as if you are the only person that exists. What an amazing team Dr. Khalili has set up at his center! I can't give more praise for the wonderful care of this team. Megan was so organized and efficient. She always responded to my calls and emails, which I sent a lot of emails. She even followed up with me on my medications and kept my schedule going. Dorothy did all the billing and explained the financial part with a smile on her face. It was one of the most enjoyable "financial" experiences I've ever had. I even hugged her at the end. Nurses were so friendly and every time I went I received a rose to take home...who does that???!! This wonderful center made me feel like they really cared and my recovery is better because of them. Dr. Khalili is like a superhero with a scapal! He was calm, friendly and always took time to answer all my millions of questions. Surgery went perfect and he was there holding my hand when I got nervous. He also did surgery on my husband 9 years ago and still remembers our family. Thank you Khalili center for all you've done. Had the gastric bypass with Dr. Bessari, on the 14th of February. I've lost about 84 pounds since. It's been an amazing experience. The Khalili Center is not one of those slice and dice conveyor surgical centers. Then pre-op is thorough with an extensive access to the entire team at the Center. The cohort of patients are willing to share their experiences with regular group sessions before and after the procedure. So you know well before hand what the surgery entails and how people who had the surgery have coped and have succeeded beyond their expectations. After the procedure, the entire staff is available (unlike my contractor and plumber). I really recommend this Center. I initially began the process at USC. I didn't just feel right. I'm very selective when it comes to my care. I've dealt with many health issues and most have been resolved since the procedure. I have absolutely no regrets, it was the best thing I could have done for myself. If its something you're considering drop on in on a Monday at the Center or in one of the many satellite meetings and talk with the staff and other patients. You'll make the right choice. read more
