Right off the main drag in Delray Beach. Walked by with my pup. Got a table outside. Brought ice water for the dog. Very friendly staff excellent fish. Perfectly seasoned sushi rice.

Came here for lunch during the weekday. They have a great lunch menu and their prices are reasonable. The wait staff was attentive and the food came out quickly. Food was super fresh. Could not eat all of it but it was all delish!

Negimaki made from prime meat. Juicy.

I enjoyed several Japanese dishes on a recent evening at the sushi counter. Normally, a complimentary amuse buche is handed over as a greeting when you sit at the sushi bar. Not here. Why? We started with fried pork dumplings. I usually like them pan-fried, but my husband ordered them incorrectly, and they came out piping hot, juicy, and crispy. I remarked that fully fried is scrumptious if prepared properly and not overcooked. I did wish the dipping bowl of gyoza sauce were bigger. It was hard to get the amount I wanted. Next, I had a sashimi appetizer prepared by an outstanding sushi chef. Large, chilled slices of salmon (buttery and silky in texture and taste), toro, and yellowtail were heaven on a plate for me. I often find that sushi bars (not the Omakase kind popping up all over town) are lackluster and failing in freshness and precision in their execution. Not so here. I ordered amaebi sashimi, raw, sweet shrimp normally plated with flash-fried heads (my favorite part of the dish), and the small shrimp bodies separated. Yama's amaebi shrimp was not the teeny sweet, small variety I am accustomed to, and the temperature was not cool enough to my liking, but I enjoyed the dish, nonetheless. Next, we shared yakitori and negimaki. Both dishes were outstanding. The yakitori was sKewered with scallion and doused with a sweet, thickened soy glaze. The negimaki was prime beef rolled around the scallion cut, similar to a sushi roll with a thin, mildly sweet sauce beneath the beef rolls. Each dish came out slowly but in a good way to savor each plate. Some diners want their food to come out quickly. I feel differently about this. I enjoyed the dining experience. I liked the look and feel of the atmosphere. There were tables of Japanese patrons and families, young 30-somethings, and plenty of banter that allowed you to hear your conversation. We imbibed in 2 large hot sakes (next time, I'd go for a cool variety), one large Asahi beer, ate a sashimi appetizer, the amaebi, a spicy tuna roll with extra crunchies, and the two hot appetizers. Our bill came to $111. Not terrible for how much we ate. I was full, but if pushed, I could have eaten through my wall of pain.

I was invited to join a friend here. I am so glad she suggested it. This restaurant is located in an area of downtown Delray i have not explored much. There are several restaurants nearby and a parking area up ramp behind the stores and restaurants. The restaurant has indoor seating and outdoor curbside seating which is very lovely. The interior is low light inviting and open. Our server was friendly and welcoming. I ordered a shrimp tempura "Dragon Tail" roll and my friend ordered the raw "Red Dragon"roll. I loved my roll. It was crunchy, sweet and sooo fresh avocado. My friend was also very happy with her selection. My Thai ice tea was also sweet and delicious. I will be returning here for more taste of their menu. Another point to mention , Whits Frozen Custard is a couple doors down. LOL

I had a good experience at Yama this past weekend! Our server was really nice which I appreciated so much. I thought the tuna tare tare was good to start & I also tried the tom yum which was flavorful. The rolls were good but I feel pretty average but, the plating for everything was very pretty! It was also very clean inside & not too busy. I don't live in the delray area however, I feel this is probably a safe spot to choose if you want something quick & good.

The food was great! I'd definitely go back again. The service was alright as the waitress left our food sitting there for a while before bringing it out. The table was also extremely shaky so we had to brace it with our legs so the food would not move around. The indoor portion of the restaurant is nicely decorated and clean. It's a nice place for a dinner date.

Yama was okay and certainly not bad but really quite average. Service was fine and the dining room is basic and dark though somewhat comfortable. We started off with Shrimp Dumplings and this item is what really what took the rating down. Dumplings of course taste better when made to order but these were terrible and not just because they might have been prepared earlier it's because they seemed to be a frozen commercial product. A salmon roll though basic was better than most. Next we ordered a Sushi of the day Special and it was a good assortment of nigiri that was presented nicely. The sushi was pretty good and though I've had better, I've also had worse and the quality equaled the cost.

Meant to post these photos previously. Two of my favorite items on the menu. The Salmon Sashimi is a very generous 4-piece portion and the Triple S roll is my addiction!

We left a credit card deposit for half of our meal and made reservations weeks in advance. Taki Omakase's curated 18-course chef's choice menu offers traditional Japanese nigiri and cutting-edge, innovative seafood & wagyu dishes. The seafood is flown here directly from Japan using specialized torch-searing and Binchotan charcoal grilling, some dishes finished with the opulence of genuine gold flakes. The menu celebrates bold flavors and exotic textures, featuring luxurious accents such as truffle, foie gras, yuzu, and plum. We found street parking in front & opened the nondescript door with Japanese characters. We had one of the 12 seats at tonights only seating. We chose the Delray location which is more modern than the traditional Omakase at the Mizner Park, Boca Raton restaurant . I appreciated the opportunity to engage with Patrick our Michellen star chef while watching him prepare each course with precision & love. We started by sharing Tatenyan Kitty sake that was light of fragrant with a gentle, sweetness and dry finish that was well balanced. I enjoyed watching Patrick prepare each dish some torched, with gold dust, charcoal, and minut details with tweezers. Patrick told us about each course & the ingredients contained. He gave us the Japanese name of each fish as well as the American translation. Every piece of fish was buttery, interesting & exceptional. I ate & ate for almost 2 hours salads, wagu, toro, sea urchin, miso... for dessert we had a refreshing lemon sorbet topped with a baby peach.

My favorite was the Miso cod and Wagyu steak. There's nigiri pieces, a hand roll and a nice sorbet to end the night. Besides uni, my highlights were the sea bream and mackerel. I also requested hot water with lemon and it came in a pot with a tea candle, very well presented! I was impressed. Our dining sets were cleared very efficiently. Wish the servers would be more friendly and smiled more though. What left a bad impression was the server was in such a rush to check out our group, she ran my card twice and then said she refunded and ran my husband's card once but upon checking my CC statement, nothing was refunded so we were charged 3 times for 2 people. When I called to clarify, she said there's nothing she could do as everything on their end was correct and I needed to contact my bank. After much turmoil back and forth, she was able to find the mistake (she refunded the wrong guest) and finally corrected it. Frustrating experience.

The space itself is really nice--spacious, high ceilings, lots of natural light, and (important to me) plenty of bar seating. The staff has always been friendly and attentive, though yes... I tend to make friends with staff at places I frequent. It just happens. Location-wise, it's just around the corner from E Atlantic Ave, which makes it easy to get to without being overrun by the tourist crowds that stick strictly to the Ave. This most recent visit was just for drinks and, surprisingly, dessert (rare sweet tooth moment). I asked what they had and immediately went with the mochi ice cream--no regrets. Four flavors that tasted like green tea, vanilla, strawberry, and mango, all drizzled with rich chocolate and topped with whipped cream. Definitely hit the spot. So yeah--recommend.

You'll have no problem finding parking as it has street parking all around and a garage that's $1.50 an hour (could be worse). The restaurant was clean and has a nice, calm vibe to it. The happy hour menu has a good selection of drinks and food. I like that it's offered everyday and at convenient times. We ordered: 1) Red Dragon and Triole Sexy ($13 per roll)- we liked it! Good presentation, simple, did not fall apart, tastes good. Price and portion was a plus 2) Salmon Carpaccio ($12)- comes with 5 pieces, topped with fried garlic and yuzu/truffle oil. I barely tasted truffle and I would think it would have came with more pieces, at least 6-8. Overall, tasted good 3) Beef short rib skewer ($9)- comes with 2 skewers of bite size pieces was underwhelming, a bit pricey. It was dry and def needed some oil and salt to make it juicy and some flavor Service was great! Sushi chefs did a great job with the rolls and apps. Do recommend for happy hour!

I've had the truffle bombs before and loved them, but this time they were off. The toro (tuna belly) was just meh--lacking the richness and flavor you'd expect. The Wagyu was ordered medium rare but came out closer to medium and was overwhelmingly salty. The halibut was probably the best dish of the night, but the portion was shockingly small--maybe 3 oz at best. The Japanese mushrooms were so salty they were essentially inedible. Even the espressos arrived lukewarm. Both the mushrooms and espressos were comp'd--a $15 adjustment--which felt insignificant given the overall experience. The only real highlights were the drinks: a Caymus Sauvignon Blanc that was excellent, along with a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon and Frangelico. After spending $850 (including tip) for three people, this experience was a major disappointment. Sadly, we won't be returning.
