two jackfruits on a wooden crate
    Jonathan N.

This place is ok. The owners are a Cambodian couple. They have a small outdoor fruit stand in front of the farm to sell individual fruit by pound. The fruits cost alittle bit more than the supermarket price but it very fresh and sweet. The owner wouldn't let me walks into the farm. She only allow visitors walk outside the perimeter of the farm. i went during the first week of September so there wasn't much fruit left in the farm or at the selling stand. I asked the owner when is the best time to visit and she said mid July is the harvest time for all fruits. I will be back to check out this place during summer time.

This iconic fruit stand is a true South Florida institution. From the moment you pull in, it feels like stepping into a charming, old-school roadside market bursting with color and character. Crates overflow with vibrant tropical fruits, the air smells sweet and fresh, and the whole place has that nostalgic, family-run charm you just don't find everywhere anymore. The mamey milkshake is my go-to and hands down my favorite. It's unbelievably thick, creamy, and packed with rich tropical flavor. One sip and you'll understand why it's legendary. Beyond the milkshakes, they carry incredible local honey, homemade sauces, unique jams, fresh shallots, beautiful vegetables, and perfectly ripe fruits. The exotic fruit selection alone is worth the trip. you'll discover varieties you didn't even know existed. What makes it even more special is that Robert himself is often there, still working and interacting with customers. It adds such a personal touch. Everyone on staff is genuinely kind, welcoming, and happy to answer questions or offer recommendations. Don't skip the back area, there's a small petting zoo where you can buy feed and interact with the animals, which makes it a fun stop for families and kids. It's more than just a fruit stand . it's an experience. A must-visit South Florida classic.

Disappointed. I decided I might as well get a shake since the line was long- I got the Mamey milkshake since I never had Mamey before. It is good. I really can't describe it- not sweet. Creamy. Yeah, kind of like sweet potato. We'll see how my tummy feels after the milk in the shake By the way- this is a large cup. I'm definitely not going to finish this!!! It's great for tourists ands kids. It was too hot for me to walk around and look at the animals- so go in the morning. That's it. I'm leaving. Apparently there's wine tasting 3 miles down the road!

For a lucky few (and I'm one!), membership in the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) group will get them a box of organic fruits and vegetables from South Florida organic sources during the November-April growing season. Egg and honey shares are available too. One box I received this year had Florida sea salt! (who knew?) The CSA shares can either be picked up at the farm, or at various delivery sites in Miami-Dade, Broward and the Keys. During the summer, weekly emails list what summer fruits are available for purchase at the farm. Just sign up on the web site for notifications. This week I picked up two varieties of carambola (starfruit), passionfruit, longans (like small leechees) and tropical fruit honey. There are almost always avacados available in the summer. Keep in mind that this is not a tourist attraction. It is a working farm, with the associated dirt roads, mud, bugs, etc. Don't wear your dancing shoes.

There was Fred, his wife Gaelle and their boys. They have raw goat's milk and home-made cheese, bananas, mangoes, longans, and other fruits. All available in just small quantities from their farm. The fruits are harvested that very morning and the milk milked the evening before. Fred was selling some guarapo (sugar cane juice). When I ordered one, he asked me if I prefer purple cane or yellow cane. I've drank guarapo all my life and I've never gotten asked this question!! I ended up with the purple cane, on his recommendation, and he squeezed a little key lime juice in it. I have to say, it's refreshing, only mildly sweet, and the best ever guarapo I've ever had!! As I sipped my juice, he explained to us how sugar cane juice is very different from what you may imagine it be to: water with sweet cane sugar. The juice is actually alkalinizing, and contains several essential nutrients, such as calcium, potassium, iron, magnesium and phosphorous. Moreover, the canes he used were just cutted that morning on his farm so it's way fresher than what you may get at, say, a Cuban cafe. And of course unlike the processed cane sugar, which is devoid of any nutrient. As many who shop farmers market may notice, there are stalls selling real local products, and stalls selling cheap produce shipped in from elsewhere. If your aim is to support local family farms, Farmer Fred is the stall to go to. Friendly people, quality product, reasonable price. (mangoes $2 a lb, longan $3.) Sadly or not, while he has a webpage, https://www.facebook.com/cubanredfred, he doesn't put up much info about where you'll find him next. I chanced upon Farmer Fred at the Kendall Village Farmers Market, and I'm definitely looking forward to my guarapo next time I see him!

You all know how tents as establishments in the dirt road near Ureka or Homestead are hard to keep clean. This farmer's market is on the left side on a dirt road and I was impressed how everything is neat and clean. All their fruits and produce have a very rich look and smell. Definitely not what you get at your supermarket covered in Estou a caminho! And preservatives. The mangos have a gorgeous ripe smell and the cilantro is rich and fresh since they keep it on cool water pots and fridges. The owner, Nelson has two huge tanks with constant running water where he has gorgeous sized tilapias which he will catch the one you like and have it cleaned for your enjoyment at home. He also breeds his own fish and feeds them top quality pellets with fish products and organic fish food. No hormones here. The prices are phenomenal for the deep and the shallow pocket, you can spend two dollars on a small tilapia or eight dollars on a tilapia alone, it also depends how how much produce and fresh fruit you go ahead and buy, it's all up to the consumer. Regardless the prices are very inexpensive in my opinion and you are receiving great service and amazing quality. Besides tropical fruits, they can make shakes for you with anything you buy and they also have coconuts, sugar cane juice (guarapo) and many more like tamarind. I will be visiting more often, after all it's very close to us and with their advice, their hygienic standard and feasible prices it's a no brainier.
