    Jerk Chicken

I found the Ochio food truck while I was in town for a night, it was late and not many places were open. Checked a few pictures and reviews then drove to the parking lot where this vibrantly decorated truck was located. The menu is packed with the fundamental Jamaica dishes: Jerk/curry /brown stew chicken, beef patties etc. The jerk chicken was decent but I wanted a more low and slow smoky flavor. However, it did satisfy the craving for some Jamaican food. The curry shrimp was better. There was good flavor and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. The owner of the truck is welcoming, informative and proud of the food he prepares. Definitely worth a stop.

Got the Rasta pasta. Was really good. Flavor was on point and it has a nice spicy taste to it.

Hands down the best Jamaican food in the area. No one compares to the detail and cleanliness this duo provides this far down south that I know of. I've tried a few items off the menu, the oxtails, soups chicken and I was satisfied and happy with each plate. They aren't stingy with their portions and the flavor and uniqueness of Jamaican cuisine is always incorporated, they don't skip the corners on the ingredients and Americanize their dishes. The service is relatively fast and they accept pick up orders and are on door-dash I believe. I like how they mix up the menu and every day they offer a different special.

If you are finally looking for authentic, hand-crafted, using quality ingredients Jamaican Caribbean food in the Naranja, Homestead, & yes Florida City area, then this is it! Proprietor chef Troy is the head of this masterful operation. He brings 30+ plus years in the food service industry from 10 years cooking on a cruise ship while travel to various Caribbean Islands to setting roots in the Maryland area cooking top government officials to the numerous law enforcement agencies. Chef Troy personally told me during my visit, "Mr. James Coney loves my Curry chicken!" I said, "Wow!" I then ordered Brown Stewed Chicken, Curry Chicken, Beef Patties, coconut rice, and his Steamed Cabbage. Everything was spectacular! He also makes fresh Juice! I didn't expect anything less, so I ordered a tall cup of Sorrel (Hibiscus or Jámaica in Spanish). Perfect, not too sweet, watered down and full of flavour and Caribbean spices. The food trailer is always parked in the parking lot (between Auto Zone & All Uniform Wear) and is easily accessible with canopy covered seating and Caribbean music. Almost as important to the quality and taste of the food, is their service and personality. The service was great but their approachability was excellent. My wife and I started talking with chef Troy and his wife which grew to about a half an hour conversation. We discussed his philosophy and approach to his style of cooking. He gave his cooking pedigree background and we explained to him our flavour profiles. He offered to us personalised veggie dishes; and he made my wife a great off-the-menu dish on our second visit. How many chefs truly go out of their routine to accommodate new customers? Great chefs! Everyone must come by and give Ochio Island Grill a chance to win over your taste buds. Tell chef Troy that John aka Chefpolice recommended him! Enjoy.

I was very skeptical but WOW! I was blown away. Totally recommend. My honey got the jerk pork, and I got the oxtail. All of it was amazing!

I passed this truck a few times in US1 and finally decided to stop last night. The food was fantastic! The beef patties were flaky and packed with filling and the food tasted fresh, even though they were about to close. Aside from the food, the owner was unbelievably kind and welcoming. During these hard times, it's important to support small businesses, and this one is definitely worth the stop!

    Conch Fritters!

I was craving a Jamaican patty and I didn't want to drive to Kendall as I normally would. When I got there he was helping another gentleman and whatever he was packing for him looked so delicious I had to ask what it was, it was a fried rice with chicken, steak and shrimp. I thought about getting it but I was having an early dinner that day and just really wanted that Jamaican patty. I also noticed they had conch fritters, I needed that too lol. Both items were prepared when I ordered them, they were nice and warm. The patty had a bit of a tang to it but not too spicy, the conch fritters had a lot of conch. 10/10. Their located at a parking lot, they have tables as well and the area is very clean as well. If you're in Homestead and craving amazing Jamaican food this is it!

Owners are awesome!

The restaurant is reasonably sized and tastefully, but simply, designed. The menu is concise, and you can always ask for something that isn't on it, and they will do their best to accommodate you. Lunch specials can fill you up without breaking the bank. Griot, or fried pig chunks, is their most well-known and traditional food. It's flavorful and a little oily, but you can add some pikliz, our Haitian chili sauce, and it will absorb it all, especially when served with rice, salad, and fried bananas or tostones. You can even switch up the sides.

Not sure if it's just a rough neighborhood, but we were clearly the first eat-in clients of the afternoon/evening. The hostess said they could accommodate our group of 7 and so we did end up staying, but our group had to do all the rearranging of tables, high chairs, and table wipe downs which was strange. Overall the service was just OK. One of our dishes didn't come out with the others which was unfortunate as everyone was done eating when it finally did come out. One nice thing was they prepared small plates of fries and ketchup for our youngest boys who weren't interested in the Caribbean fare offered. The food and presentation was nice, but seemed to be very overcooked and dry. Perhaps just an off-night for the staff. I was encouraged to see several takeout orders being picked up so seems like they're a local favorite.

The person taking our order was friendly and gave us a heads up that the chicken had a decent amount of heat, which I appreciated. Food took a little time to come out, but everything arrived fresh and hot. The burger was juicy without being messy, and the habanero chicken had good flavor beyond just spice. What stood out most was how relaxed the atmosphere felt even during the dinner rush. Staff stayed attentive and kept checking on tables without hovering too much. For my main, I had the El Yunque Burger. It was delicious! Had everything but the kitchen sink in it but the combo worked! There was even mofongo in the burger. My fiance had the El Pork Belly tapa with Truffle fries. The El Pork Belly was scrumptious! Fell off the bone with tostones or fried green plantains ( for my English speaking folks). The Truffle fries were also very good. I can't recommend this place enough! Go there when in Homestead. You won't regret it!
