This place is a true Gem on wheels. The patties are made fresh and the Rasta pasta is cooked to order. I had to go back for this dish because it's BOMB and so are his beef Pattie's. Keep in mind this dish is sold only on the weekends, not including Fridays. I had to learn that the hard way. However, he does fish fries on Fridays which is excellent to know as well. Checked a few pictures and reviews then drove to the parking lot where this vibrantly decorated truck was located. The menu is packed with the fundamental Jamaica dishes: Jerk/curry /brown stew chicken, beef patties etc. The jerk chicken was decent but I wanted a more low and slow smoky flavor. However, it did satisfy the craving for some Jamaican food. The curry shrimp was better. There was good flavor and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. I've tried a few items off the menu, the oxtails, soups chicken and I was satisfied and happy with each plate. They aren't stingy with their portions and the flavor and uniqueness of Jamaican cuisine is always incorporated, they don't skip the corners on the ingredients and Americanize their dishes. Hands-down, Mr. Troy is such a nice person, and so accommodating especially with my son that is severely allergic to shellfish. The food is fresh and delicious so authentic. If you are finally looking for authentic, hand-crafted, using quality ingredients Jamaican Caribbean food in the Naranja, Homestead, & yes Florida City area, then this is it! Proprietor chef Troy is the head of this masterful operation. He brings 30+ plus years in the food service industry from 10 years cooking on a cruise ship while travel to various Caribbean Islands to setting roots in the Maryland area cooking top government officials to the numerous law enforcement agencies. Chef Troy personally told me during my visit, "Mr. James Coney loves my Curry chicken!" I said, "Wow!" I then ordered Brown Stewed Chicken, Curry Chicken, Beef Patties, coconut rice, and his Steamed Cabbage. Everything was spectacular! He also makes fresh Juice! I didn't expect anything less, so I ordered a tall cup of Sorrel (Hibiscus or Jámaica in Spanish). Perfect, not too sweet, watered down and full of flavour and Caribbean spices. The food trailer is always parked in the parking lot (between Auto Zone & All Uniform Wear) and is easily accessible with canopy covered seating and Caribbean music. Almost as important to the quality and taste of the food, is their service and personality. The service was great but their approachability was excellent. My wife and I started talking with chef Troy and his wife which grew to about a half an hour conversation. We discussed his philosophy and approach to his style of cooking. He gave his cooking pedigree background and we explained to him our flavour profiles. He offered to us personalised veggie dishes; and he made my wife a great off-the-menu dish on our second visit. The curry goat is my fave and I've tried that with coco bread. I'd prefer a for more pieces of plantains for the sweet /spicy combo, but they give nice size portions and it fills you up. We stumbled on a rainy Sunday with a craving for Jamaican Jerk Chicken in Homestead Florida onto what is for sure one of the best ever Jerk Jamaican meals my wife have I eaten including the many in Jamaica itself! What an outstanding surprise. We took home a jerk chicken and also a jerk pork meal combo. The meats were smoked and absolutely mouth watering. The slaw veggies, super tasty and the brown rice with peas and red beans again, DElicious. All for $25!! Two hungry adults could not finish so we have in the fridge for a lunch tomorrow. They have nice tables outside with umbrellas so we could have sat even that it was pouring. The best thing about this phenomenal score was the owner Troy and fine lady next to him, Flor. We even had the pleasure of speaking to his big brother Kevin who was also ordering next to us. This was so like being right there in Jamaica, so friendly. Troy obviously has some serious chef skills and he exudes love for his preparations, his immaculately clean truck and his guests who they all honor with welcome cheer and amazing food. This hidden gem is worth a drive from Broward or the Keys! It's a destination eatery that, for us, will surely bring us back again and again. My husband bought home some of their jerk Pork and OMG it's DELICIOUS!! I ate it all from him. I'm hooked now and crave it everyday. Going back tomorrow and the next day I just can't stop Eating it it's so amazing. I normally don't eat jerk anything but this jerk pork is too good to pass up. TRUST me you won't be disappointed.
