We are avid Thai food enthusiasts and stumbled upon this amazing Thai food cart that was within walking distance of our hotel in downtown Portland. We visited in July 2022. Holy cow is it good! The food is authentic, piping hot, and prepared with love. We visit Portland almost every year and try out as many food carts as we can when there. It's pretty typical to be met with aloof, annoyed workers among the food carts making it an uncomfortable experience. Not at Khob Khun! We visited several times and were met with smiles, laughter, and kindness. Our favorite foods were Pad See Ew, any of the curries, salad rolls, coconut shrimp, potstickers, and the BEST Thai iced tea in the city. We hated leaving Portland because we new we'd miss out on our daily Thai fix. Be sure to give this place a try if you're in the area - it's definitely some of the best Thai food we've had!

This was our first stop in Portland when we first came to visit. Ever since we've been regulars, we've tried the Pad Thai and fried rice, both are delicious but I recommend the crab fried rice (spicy)! It is fresh and contains a lot of FRESH crab. The serving portions are more than enough for one person and it is affordable. The lady working there is very nice and is always busy which I'm glad to see, all that means is that this is a good spot! Her prices are going up by one dollar, what used to be a $9 crab fried rice is now $10, it is more than fine because the serving portions are so good. There is also a .50c charge for credit cards (don't let this sway you away).

Stopped by this booth for a quick lunch. It's relatively inexpensive and I was happy they were serving green Thai tea the flavours were just okay. I ordered the pad Thai and I think I should have gone with the spicy. I saw another review that said the spicy was mouth burning and I definitely would not trust that review haha. I ordered the medium and it was not spicy at all. I would recommend coming here if you need a quick Thai food fix

Portland has a love affair with Thai food. I did too when I had Khob Khun. Grabbed a quick snack before dinner on a Saturday. Ordered the very simple, yet quintessential Thai dish - pad see ew with chicken. Pad see ew is just a giant rice noodle, made with Chinese broccoli, egg, chicken (or any protein), with a soy sauce based. This was 6 buckeroos. SIX DOLLARS. My platter was 6 dollars!!! AND it was insanely good! The vegetables were tender, the noodles with pan fried with a little bit of char, and everything was insatiably good. This was probably the best 6 dollars I have spent in a long time. Took a quick gander and most of the dishes are priced at $6 bucks. Honestly, that's a steal. Plus there's no sales tax, so you're basically eating for free. You so lucky Portlandians.

The thai food here is pretty good. Nothing outstanding but really tasty. So I had a craving for Pad See Ew, so I looked this place up. Unbeknownst to me, I've been there before. Yes, I need to branch my Thai food more. The food came out fairly quickly and it was a good deal heavy container. The noodles were light and delicate and not greasy at all. There was enough beef for this girl. I wished for a little more scrambled egg but no biggie. The weird part was that it had carrots and zukes. I've only ever had it with broccoli so it threw me for a curve ball. Whatever, more veggies is better for me right? The carrots were not my favorite, but everything else I scarfed down. Yum! I asked for medium spicy, which is weird because this dish doesn't come spicy. Luckily, I picked up some hot sauce and chili flakes to spice it up. This is a good deal and the food will be satisfying!

Looking for a light snack, stopped here because the salad rolls looked divine. Looks we're not deceiving! They were spectacular.......enough so, that we decided to grab an early dinner to go. The star of the show is the peanut sauce. Plain and simple: you could put it on anything! By comparison, other peanut sauce tastes like it came from a can. Slight chili spice, somehow managing to not taste too "peanutty".......as in peanut butter. Utterly wonderful! My world traveling partner said it's "just like mama at Taipei Gate in ChengMai." I'm taking her word for it.......but the sauce makes me a believer. The Phad Thai was tasty, but I cannot review it, since we bought it to be nuked later......unfair. Plus, I put more peanut sauce on it........I'd eat leather from my old boots with that on it and pronounce it tasty!

As the last endeavor to get some food before heading to the airport, we decided to get something at a food cart. After looking at the rows of places, we opted for Thai food. Between this one and the one literally two or three stands down, we for whatever reason went with this one. Plain chicken pad thai to keep things simple. It was just okay :( The chicken was really bland, but the portions were good. We had trouble finishing it! Not the best pad thai I've ever had, but definitely not the worst. Kind of disappointed that this was the last exposure of food in PDX that we got, but meh. I would probably skip the pad thai and go with something else if you come here!

This is my favorite downtown Thai truck. Everything is so flavorful and fresh. I've eaten my way through most of the menu, and I've yet to have a bad or boring meal. Most meals are a friendly $8, and the service is quick enough for a short lunch break. My favorites are the kai kua and panang curry.

One of the only few Asian carts I've found downtown that has reliable prices. With a few of my past reviews, prices listed on the food carts didn't reflect what one would have to pay - deception is evil. Here, you can get ANY meat - chicken, beef, or shrimp (yes, I said shrimp!) for just $6 for many of the Thai dishes. I went for the classic, Pad Thai. You order by telling them what number you want from the menu (not by dish name), what meat, and level of spicy. All to the point for efficient and speedy service so that both parties can carry on with their lives. The Pad Thai was plentiful and would last me two meals. More bang for the buck! Everything about the food was great and I'd for sure come back to explore more variety!

This was the best Thai I have ever had in my life. I love portland!!! The woman was an angel on earth and cooked everything up quickly, I took my firsst bite of the savory dish and couldn't believe my taste buds. Do yourself a service and check this place out on fifth ave downtown!

Definitely in the topmost tier of Thai food carts in Portland. I normally try to reserve judgment of a place until I've been a few times, unless the first visit's absolutely abysmal, and Khob Khun has been consistently tasty every time. So far, my favorite is the Pumpkin Red Curry.

This is like "Food Court Portland Style". This eatery is located in parking lot with a dozen other vendors each of them in their own trailer backed up to the sidewalk. Each day they open at 11:00 am and close at 6:00 p.m. Some are open on weekends, others not. There were at least two of these "food courts" that I came across while meandering the streets of Portland. In any event, I was hungry for some Thai food and I ended up at Khob Khun Thai run by one lady who whipped up my food in a flash! I ordered standard fare...Pad Thai, nothing fancy. I stood there and watched her every move and wow, she was efficient and in less than 5 minutes my dish was good to go. The lunch wagon food was very good, very tasty, and very inexpensive. A heaping take out tray of pad thai topped with chopped peanuts and bean sprouts set me back a mere $5 and it fed me twice as I couldn't finish it all in one sitting! This place is great and if you are needing some food in a jiffy this is the place to get it!

sandwiched between gyros and burritos, this food cart looks modest but serves huge portions. you'll get a bang for your buck! my friends and i got the veggie green curry and tofu pad see ew to share. the pad see ew was my favorite...the noodles were thick, chewy, and not at all too greasy. veggies could have been cooked through more, but food trucks are all about being speedy so that's understandable. the green curry was good too, just not the best i've had in terms of milkiness and mix of spices. we got mild, but the spice still kicked in pretty strong. for a small unsuspecting food truck, we enjoyed a satisfying thai meal.

Dear lord. All that spicy Pad Thai for only 7 bucks!!

Starter: Field Green Salad: Sooooo delicious, a perfect summer salad, the apple, pickled shallots, coconut, and tamarind made for a beautiful marriage of flavor. Sweet and a bit sour, bright and light. White curry: 1000000/10. Absolutely perfect. Brisket Fried rice: 8/10. Great smoky flavor, rice a bit too crunchy for my liking but the smokiness reminded me of Nigerian rice so I liked it a lot! Service: Taylor was our server and she was just the cutest and most delightful person. Really made us feel seen and heard and treated us like we were family and gave us great recs for things to do. Drink: Approved By Chef-Very good and refreshing. ALSO THE MUSIC WAS INCREDIBLE! Such a good vibe. The hype is worth it. It was the perfect dinner to a perfect day in a beautiful city!

The Smoked Pork Belly Krapao was definitely on the Thai‑spicy side, with a real kick, but still very flavorful and enjoyable. The wait time is usually around 1 to 1.5 hours depending on when you go. We went during dinner, so the wait was on the longer side. Our server was wonderful -- she checked in on us often and made sure we were taken care of. I didn't enjoy my initial cocktail, the Life of Luxury, because it tasted too herbal for my liking. She immediately offered to switch it out, and that small gesture really improved my overall experience.

5 star food with excellent service - very welcoming and knows how to upsell lol…read more Food Orderd: 1. Fried Chicken Roti Combo - holy fried chicken crispy, combo comes with 1x leg and 1x thigh cut into two pieces. Curry was delicious and balance, excellent when dipped with the crispy roti or fried chicken. Pickled veggies were a great pairing and sweet and sour added another dimension. 2. Pad Thai - glistening noodles served inside an egg omelet. Very solid pad thai - sweet, sour, salty. Don't forget to add the fresh shrimp, these were cooked perfectly and plump. I recommend the restaurant should take the shrimp tail shell off for us. 3. Thai Basil Lemonade - solid lemonade, NEED more basil flavor. Overall, I'd come here again to eat and try other items as well. I'll give it a 5 star for now but more 4.5.

I'll start by saying this place is definitely not big so come with the expectation that you might have to wait for a table. There's only about 8-10 tables in the place and it's definitely geared towards smaller groups. Regardless we ordered at the front and then were able to find a seat. Wound up ordering the combo to try and get a taste of everything. The portions were solid and everything was super tasty. The chicken is perfectly breaded and delicious. It's a bit of a messy meal so just come with that in mind. Have a bunch of different options that also looked tasty. Will have to come back and try again. Service was fine. They were kind and cleared the table. Water is self serve at front of the restaurant and they clearly do a fair amount of takeout. Cool local spot to definitely check out.
