i've been going here for less than a year, probably. i go because it's cheaper than my usual lady (her salon is in her house), and no appointment is needed. all the ladies who are "qualified to thread" have threaded me, and i have never had a bad experience. yea, of course it hurts - you're having hair being pulled out of sensitive areas on your face ! i haven't had much experience with their other services, i think i'll stick with my other lady for that. although she requires appointments, sometimes a couple of weeks in advances, she really takes her time, cares about how you feel about her work/how it looks, and cares about you as a person. total personal touch. back to this khoobsurat, i believe they charge you 50 cents for using plastic to pay. and also, check yourself yourself for threads that want to leave with you; i've seen many ladies walk out the door with long pieces of thread sticking to them. say something to them if you see it, it's embarrassing, ha! also - if you've never had threading done before, mention that to your lady. otherwise, they expect you to know exactly what to do next! read more

They don't care if people come back or not since they are the only Indian beauty salon in Bothell area .If you are near Bellevue, Redmond or Seattle, there are way better places there. I have done threading and waxing here several times and both below par. I have been coming here for over 3 years and the staff is yet to disappoint me! I come in once a month for eyebrow threading and after I get them done I get compliments for weeks on how nice my eyebrows look! My cousin came here 3 years ago for her bridal henna and it was gorgeous! They do a great job and you feel at home here. $10 for eyebrows and upper lip threading. read more

Sad to say after I went in for a pedicure/manicure I was VERY DISAPPOINTED. They lady that worked on the manicure was different from the Indian lady who does teh threading..this one had quite an unleasant manner to start off and did a very shoddy job on my finger nails.. .barely any time spent on them massaging...she squeezed my aram a fe times and was done. Then I told her to shape my nails and keep them long and she nodded but,I don't think she quite understood...she filed them all short!!! I was bleeding by the time she was done with my cuticles and she got irritated when I wasn't sure abt what color nail paint I wanted. The girl who did the pedicure was more pleasant but, learning on the job...again very disappointed..barely any scrub or massage even after I asked her to. When I was done she didnt want me to wait & dry my nails..she wanted me to come up to the desk and pay right away while she peered over my shoulder while I added the tip!!!! I left really irritated and my wet nail paint had smudges on them too! GOOD FOR THREADING..not anything else. read more

I had to let my eyebrows grow out because the last place I went waxed them without shape and much too thin. I went on a weeknight after work and there was a short line, but the women were very friendly. Not only did they shape my eyebrows perfectly, but they took their time and made kind small talk. The price is unbelievable and you get more than what you pay for. I will only be going here for my eyebrows and will recommend to all I know. read more

I recently moved to the area. Before moving I had a place that I went to religiously to get my eyebrows threaded. I hate waxing, it never gives me that results I want and hurts like hell. One of my worries about moving aling with a new dentist, and hair stylist, was where I was going to go for my eyebrows! I was driving around one day and my prayers were answered! I saw this place and made a point to go in the next day. My eyebrows look amazing :-) I have different places I go for different beauty services and this is now the only place I will allow to touch my brows. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because while assisting the client before me the womans cell phone rang and she chatted away the remainer of the time with the client. She held the phone in her neck and threaded away. I just don't think this was an example of customer service. read more

It was my first time to get threaded and damn it hurts! But it is completely sanitary, and I had no skin reaction what so ever... So cheap! My savvy city cousin makes the trek up here from Seattle to get threaded because it is 4x less than Seattle and the women doing it has a lot more experience. The women who run this store are friendly and helpful, and flexible -- i asked to buy just 1/4 of a stack of thin bangles, and they were happy to oblige and gave me an insanely reasonable price! They do alterations and will sew a custom choli (short fitted blouse) to match your sari purchase; I brought in some vintage sarees and they were happy to help me alter them. The sister salon next door does eyebrow threading and mehndi/mehendi (henna tattoos) - two services that are hard to find here in Seattle. Extremely rude customer service ! There's one lady who is good at threading while others are very very bad. One of the ladies did such a bad job that I was bleeding and had a scar near my eyes (the day before I had s photoshoot scheduled ). It took two weeks for the scar to go away. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! The price seemed to change every time I got my eyebrows threaded, getting more expensive with each trip, the employees always adding extra fees saying that I had too much hair on my face or too little so they were charging me more whenever I questioned the price. I have been their regular customer since the year the salon opened in Bothell.The owner is a very sweet woman with good customer service skills.She welcomes you with a smile and a greeting. But like all good things must come to an end, I have not seen the owner in a while.Instead, you meet the other employees of the salon.There is no smile nor a welcome greeting from them when you enter the salon. I wish they were given a little training in customer service. As for the service, that is a sad story as well. There have been so many times when I have had tears rolling down my eyes( for threading and upper lip).I have had the skin pulled off along with the hair on my eyebrow, only to find myself bleeding .Every time I go there, I tell those two girls that I have very sensitive skin and I may need a little TLC, but to no avail. I know beauty comes at a cost and for the price they charge ($10) for eyebrows and upper lip, I think it is a classic case of 'You get what you pay for'. I have been going here for around 2 years and it is a great place for threading. fast and inexpensive. Very good job. I also go for haircuts. One particular person does a real good job, dont remember her name. Its a long drive there, but I still go. One thing about the place is they need to be better at customer relationship. They are usually good, but one time I took an appointment for a haircut, but due to bad weather, I could not keep my appointment. we were on the freeway, such heavy rain that we could not see ahead, no visibility, almost had an accident ! So left with no choice, I decided to reschedule. I called up from my car to apologize for the inconvenience, but instead I got myself a scolding from the lady there that I had lost her another customer since I had called 5 mins after my scheduled appointment time. No manners at all, specially when I am an old customer. Other wise the service is pretty good ! A better relationship management would take them a long way to get new customers as well retain existing ones... read more

Worst HairCut i ever had. I had long hair and wanted to have a U cut so that i have all the splits go aways. But the lady cut whole of my hair in an unshaped manner. I went to Khoobsurat today for waxing, I called them earlier and made an appointment. When I reached the place, there was nobody in the reception area. There was a woman sitting beside the pedicure area with her kid (I guess she works there), she did not acknowledge me. Her kid saw me waiting and went in to fetch somebody. The lady who came out took her time to greet me as she was busy checking her reflection in the mirror. I was then directed to the waxing room and the another person came to do the service. She would not give me more than a few seconds to change my clothes, kept constantly knocking on my door in spite of me saying I needed a couple of minutes. And the robe they gave me to change into, had SO MANY strands of hair, obviously from the previous customers. And once in, she left the door wide open, just drawing across a flimsy curtain. When I asked her if she can close the door for my privacy, she said she cannot as the room will get too hot. She was trying to get the job done very quickly as she had other customers waiting outside (apparently she was the only one attending to everyone). She hit me on the face twice when she pulled the waxing sheet off my arm (because she was trying to do it fast) and DID NOT bother to apologize. Once she finished with my arms, I requested for a small mirror to check the back of my arms for hair and she said I should just check in the mirror that was wall mounted (and I knew they had those small mirrors just outside the room). Once she proceeded to wax my legs, I was told to put my leg up on the table and I did. Apparently I did not do it right, because she asked me if it was my first time there, gave a snort and asked me to lie down instead. When she was done, I could still see hair on my arms and legs. She got VERY impatient with me when I pointed out the areas and requested that she complete it properly. Usually after waxing, they are supposed to wipe all the areas that were waxed with a warm moist cloth to remove the residue wax off, because obviously you cannot go around with wax on your arms and legs. She did not do that and left the room quickly telling me to change (before I could check fully for more hair). I reached the reception and inquired the lady (the one who "welcomed" me) if they don't usually remove the residue wax off and she said "No, we don't do it". I had to cone home straight to take a shower and I don't know what brand of wax they used because it wouldn't go off even after 2 showers. I have tried many salons having lived in different areas and this was easily THE WORST salon I have ever been to in my life. The customer service was pathetic, the place was not clean, expensive and did not get my money's worth. The only good thing about this salon is its location and it is probably the only Indian salon in the area, which gives them a great advantage as customers don't have much options. If it's just quick eyebrows threading you need done, go there, for ANYTHING ELSE please stay away from this awful place. I am never going back there again. And I will make sure to tell all my friends personally to stay away too. read more

My main problem is : I have the right to chose which one of the staff has to work with me and they refuse this way. I have been going to Khoobsurat even before I moved to Bothell! I still go there for my eye brows, upper lips, hair cut and henna conditioning and I love the place for its people and the service! I have read some of the reviews here and people have called the people working here a little rude... they are professionals, so yes! They need to be a little strict about appointments! Once you open up a little, they open up twice as much and are very accommodating and extremely loving people. Just today I had a hair cut appointment... and didn't take an appointment for the henna conditioning which usually requires about a day's notice... but they had some henna so they did it for me anyways - and this is not the first time they did that! I attribute some of their rudeness that anyone might first notice about them and the deposit to be their earlier experience with clients to whom they had been nice to, but probably ditched them! Also! I had my hair straightening for my dance show recently done here, and it was very well done! They don't try to make money off you, and lean toward natural beauty tips than some fancy money making solution which could easily cost a lot! So yes!!! 5 star it is! :) read more

Her actual response, "Look at the prices and you be the judge of the difference", walks away rudely. I had a really good experience here today. I usually get waxed somewhere else but have been getting my eyebrows threaded here for years and they are amazing! But today I got a few waxing services done and honestly before I came in I was really scared reading the other reviews. I don't know how the other estheticians are at the salon but my esthetician Dimple was great! She was super fast, efficient, and sweet. I read other reviews like how they will burn u with the wax or don't clean up the sticky residue.. Maybe all estheticians at this salon are different but Dimple was more than satisfactory. She also does an amazing job shaping my brows. I have zero complaints about the services. But the only reason why I gave them 4 stars is because of the facility. They could definitely get nicer beds with plain sheets instead of ones with designs which would look more professional and clean their wax pots a lot more! But I do believe they are hygienic, but to look more clean and professional I could recommend a few changes to the place.. Also I think hiring a receptionist would be really beneficial because the girls here work hard and struggle to answer the phones when it gets busy. Being busy while answering a phone call doesn't always make for a warm and sweet phone call. But the prices here are EXTREMELY good.. So I can't complain. I have yet to use the services of the salon, but I frequently come here to shop for clothing and gifts. I have also used their alterations service. Khoobsurat is amazing. The staff here is the best in the world. I have been shopping here about once a month for over a year, and I cannot say anything but positive words. The owner treats every customer like family, and remembers you by name. She always asks how my husband is doing, and her kindness and warmth are overflowing. I've been going to them for awhile but every time I go, I'm disappointed. Why would I keep going back? Great question. I think I thought if I tried different people it would be better. Also the location is convenient, the only place in the area that does threading that I know of, and the price is great. But you get what you pay for, they speed through it and don't do a good job. I had one lady that put powder on first, took her time to make sure my eyebrows looked the same and I was extremely happy but I haven't seen her since. In general most the time they are shaped a little off when I leave and then there's always hairs they missed. I would say though, because I've seen other reviews on here, that the women in there have never been rude or unkind. They don't talk much, but that's fine. Just not a great quality eye brow threading so I'm going to go farther to find someone who does them better. read more
