Kristopher's has an enchanting vibe as you enter. The food was very mediocre. My wife had the Scampi Capellini and said the shrimp were definitely a thaw and serve. I had the Chicken Prosciutto which was pre made days ago, warmed up, and the sauce and cheese added. The penne pasta with pesto sauce was very good. The service was not good. The average age of the wait staff was probably 19 which is not a bad thing however they were not trained. We saw our waiter 3 times. He took our order, delivered our food, and took care of the bill. Nice atmosphere. Went in soon after they opened with no reservations and of the day of the Farmers Market, so lots of people outside. Got right in. Had just a couple of appetizers and glass of wine. I'll start off by saying we had a long series of good experiences, followed by a couple bad ones so gave this place an appropriate review and decided to give it a break for a couple of years. I am happy to report, that this dining experience was back up-to-speed again. We were leaving to Las Vegas the following day so didn't want leftovers and opted on splitting a meal. The portions are huge so it's easy to do. The upstairs has been closed off evidently as business has slowed. According to the sign it's because of the economy but I'd imagine it had a little to do with their previous staff and management as well. This crew was great and the bartender surprised me at one point and hopped on the piano and played a couple of amazing tunes. Everything we ordered from the cheese bread and Caesar salad to the lasagna and meatballs was delicious and filling. With this past experience, I feel well put Khristopher's back on our rotation again. If in Minden and have Italian in mind, give this place a shot. read more

Khristopher's is a moderately price Italian restaurant located in quaint brick building in downtown Minden. It has dark cozy atmosphere and plenty of comfortable seating. My friends and I stopped in for a late diner and were impressed by the quality of the food and service. We ordered salads, pasta, eggplant, and pizza. All of which were excellent. We had a pear salad that was filled with fresh crisp spinach, succulent flavorful pears, and perfectly toasted nuts. I really don't care for pears, but these ones were so good, they changed my thinking. One of my friends ordered the Florentine Ravioli which was topped with a rich Alfredo sauce and stuffed with fresh spinach, artichoke and mushrooms. Another had a pasta topped with a generous portion of freshly baked, breaded eggplant. He couldn't stop raving about the eggplant. I had the Amichi E Familiari pizza, which was loaded with artichoke, olives, onions, peppers, pesto, mushrooms, and mozzarella. It was easily the best vegetarian pizza I've ever tried. Our server Brenda took the hospitality to another level. She made it seem more like we were having dinner at an old friend's or relative's house. The food was good and our waitress was very nice. She returned and offered us additional bread which we accepted. Later, there was a convenience fee on the check. I noticed it after filling out tip and signing, but asked another server about it. He told us it's when they bring extra bread or have to return for a refill, etc. If this is a push from the owners, they are taking in thousands over this small and hidden fee annually. The portion were a little smaller than what we're used to in the big city but a decent portion. Italian comfort food in Minden with exceptional service, we have been coming to Khristopher's Ristorante & Bar since they were in Carson City throughout their different locales and happy to see them here. Located in the heart of Minden on Esmeralda Avenue across from the CVIC Hall and the Minden Park - great place to take a walk after your fabulous dinner. We have popped in to their newest location with latest finding us there for dinner. We called ahead to make sure they could accomodate us and snagged a table for two at the time we wanted. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the friendly hostess, seated at our beautiful set table and then offered menus along with H2O. Our waitstaff came over greeted us, asked what we would like to drink for the evening, shared tonight's special and asked if we would like to order any appetizers. Our appetizer choice on this night was the We opted for the Gambero Eva con Portabella - Sautéed shrimp and Portobello mushrooms in a balsamic dijon sauce that was delicious anddd we had the fresh warm bread to dip in the sauce - yummmyyy!! As we settled into our evening out, we had order our main course meals with the appetizer so we new were in for a treat as we have never had anything but the freshest ingredients creatively prepared by Kristopher's everytime we have come for manyyy years! so we knew we are in for another delightful Italian meal. We shared the House Salad w/green mix, red peppers, onions, Romano cheese and Roma tomatoes in a balsamic vinaigrette - perfect way to start the main course. Then on to the main dishes, for my husband, he opted for the Annerito Costolette: 10 oz ribeye w/ potatoes, peppers and seasonal vegetables - this was OMTASTY goodness!! For my yummilicious choice, I went with the Special of the Night: Salmon Fettucine w/tomato, mushrooms in a white fennel sauce ~ that was SO yummyyy!! Went to Khristopher's with my out of town family..7 of us.My wife and I nearly always share an entre. We ordered Lasagna. The waitress asked ..do you want it split in kitchen; said no...I'll do it.The dish came out and I asked for a plate for my wife's portion..she brought over a bread dish. I said can we have a larger plate? She said NO..I would have to charge you a SPLIT FEE!!! For a bigger dish? We eat at restaurants at least 5 nights a week...the Chart House mostly. This was the most outrageous situation I have ever encountered at a restaurant. Will not be back. It was hard to give the 20% tip built into the bill..6 or more people. This place is always our go to place for date night. Tonight we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Restaurant is in a beautiful brick building! I love the fact that it has a romantic feel with dim lighting. Most places we have gone has harsh lights, some fluorescent ones! Tonight we sat upstairs. A party of about 12 was up there but was at the end of their dinner. I asked our server for her recommendation and we got 2 of them, the Salmon Limonatta and the Chicken Marsala. My husband was about to change his mind about the marsala because he loves artichokes and is a creature of habit so was going to order his go to dish which has artichokes. The server suggested she can add artichokes to his marsala. BINGO! We started with their antipasto salad and it was big enough to split. After, we got our entrees and they were both amazing as always. My Salmon was a score. Glad we went with her recommendations. My husband loved the marsala and there was a ton of artichokes in it. They had quite a number of high school boys working there. They forgot our bread so we had to mention it about 15 minutes in. Our server appologized and had one of them go downstairs to get it, no problem. We ordered a bottle of their Chianti and it was perfection. We ended our dinner by sharing a bread pudding. Due to traffic, we actually arrived a few minutes before 8 o'clock; the restaurant was now empty (due to Halloween, everyone was in Reno) and the staff were cleaning up, so we told the waitress, Thalia, that we would actually go somewhere else as we didn't want to keep everyone there just for us. She and her colleagues insisted otherwise. The result was a wonderful dinner for four - langostino & shrimp, and the chicken marsala - complimented by the atmospheric decor. I was just told about a wonderful Happy Hour here from a local friend and he was so excited, he wanted to take me here. Well, sure why not, I'm up for a good happy hour! Khristopher's Italian Restaurant offers every day, from 3 to 6pm, half off all appetizers and $3.00 house wines and even $10 pizzas! You can choose from the large selection of creative pizzas on the menu. There's maybe 7-8 appetizers to choose from including local made bread topped with various Italian inspired ingredients or an antipasto dish served with traditional Italian meats, veggies and cheeses. The interior is very upscale and includes 2 floors with a piano and bar on the second floor. Tables and bar fill out the first floor. Service is very professional and friendly. Parking is street only, so if you arrive at prime time, you may have to walk a little ... hey just like the big city! For Happy Hour, we started with the house Cab, for $3 a glass why not! The pours were generous, so not cheaping out here! The taste was decent for a house wine. Appetizers started with the Bruschetta Milan which was sautéed Roma tomatoes, red onions, fresh basil on toasted home-made bread. Also we ordered the most expensive appetizer, the Gambero Eva con Portabella, which was sautéed shrimp and Portobello mushrooms in a balsamic dijon sauce priced normally at $15.95, so half off was a deal! The Bruschetta was a wonderful version. The bread was toasted just right, so when you bite into it, you bit a nice clean piece. If the bread is too toasted, biting in causes an earthquake and all the toppings fall off onto the plate or you lap! The fresh tomatoes, cheese and onions were perfectly balanced for a tasty mouth treat! If we thought the Bruschetta was wonderful, the next appetizer, the Gambero Eva con Portabella, was totally off the charts good. OMG, my feet were doing the happy dance under the table! Basically, it's Portabella mushrooms and medium sized shrimp sautéed served in a small bowl with this incredible balsamic and dijon mustard reduction, served with bead sticks ..... for soaking up the incredible sauce! This has got to be one of the most tastiest food experiences I've ever had. $16 for this smallish serving might seem a little steep, but for half off, it's a must get deal! We continued our happy hour with a pizza selection. We choose the Amici e Familiari, which had as toppings, artichoke hearts, black olives, roasted peppers, red onion, and mushrooms, over pesto sauce, topped with mozzarella cheese and toasted garlic. These are come creative toppings you won't get at Pizza Hut! The pizza was about the size of you average dinner plate, maybe 10 inches across. The flavors were amazing combined and rich as in filling as well. The only little improvement I'd ask for, would be try to make the bottom crust a little crisper, maybe just a little longer in the oven. After sampling the food quality and creativeness from the kitchen, I'd come back here for sure and even order off the main menu (posted online), that includes chicken in various Italian preps, like Marsala, Caccitori or Gorgonzola. There's even filet Mignon and Ribeye steaks for you meat eaters as well as many unusual pasta dishes. Now, we just couldn't skip dessert! Tiramisu, may fave was on the menu! It came out and OMG, was that a big piece, definitely big enough for 2 to share! It was a wonderful rendition, so soft and a melt in your mouth experience! I think I should start with dessert next time! Overall, Khristopher's is an upscale Italian dinner house, but serves lunch and breakfast as well. Tho, breakfast starts at 11am ... life of the retired .... Sunday breakfast starts at 9am. The pizzas are adult pizzas, not the type used to just feed the kids. Love everything about this restaurant. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the bread is just sliced white bread. With so many Italian dishes on the menu, I thought a rustic bread would be more appropriate. Service was great, although we had the place to ourselves except for one other table. That was from 6:30 to almost 8:30 on a Thursday night which I thought was unusual. But we have been there when it was busy and still had good service. Two of our party had steak tips, a special that night, which were exceptionally good. The other two had pasta and both were perfect. I highly recommend Khristopher's and we will definitely be back. It was about 4pm on a Saturday and I-580 was closed in both directions due to a brush fire on Duck Hill, north of Carson City. So, instead of going home to Reno we decided to wait it out and grab something to eat. We've had Khristopher's on our list of places to try for quite some time so it worked out well! There was one other table seated when we arrived and we were told to sit where ever we liked. They also have some outside seating. We were given menus and ordered drinks. We began to peruse the menu. They have pasta, pizza, sandwiches, salads, chicken and seafood items, and they also serve breakfast. Our drinks arrived as well some bread to munch on. We decided to order an appetizer of Pane Formaggio which is ciabatta bread topped with garlic and toasted parmesan and mozzarella cheeses. When the Pane Formaggio arrived we were ready to place our entree order. My wife chose the Pollo Caccitora which is a grilled chicken breast sauteed with mushrooms, roma tomatoes, red onions and spicy marinara sauce over cheese-stuffed ravioli topped with fresh asparagus, basil and shaved romano cheese. I decided to try the Migliore Amico pizza which is Italian mild sausage, pepperoni and prosciutto over marinara sauce, topped with mozzarella cheese and garnished with fresh oregano. Everything looked awesome as it arrived. My wife and I devoured the Pane Formaggio and each of our meals were equally delicious. My wife wanted to try some of the homemade bread pudding so, we ordered some of that as well. Overall it was a very good experience and we will come back when we have a chance. I have been a repeated customer for many years, but this last takeout order really ticked me off, I ordered takeout of Chicken Marsala, and for the second time I got a crappy order there was bearly any past and the flavor of the marsala was so sweet it was unedible, It cost $30 +tax, and this was the second time it happen to me. I called to ask why so little pasta and the manager said because of food cost rising, I told her that pasta was the cheapest food you can buy and i could have made this dish at home for a 1/3 of the price but i wanted to support our local business, but apparently she was not interesed in rectifying the problem and so to bad and hung up. what a rude manager, just lost a long time customer. It was about ten degrees outside with crazy wind gusts- why does this matter because they sat us upstairs at a table under air conditioning had to ask them about turning it off. Waiter didn't take our drink order for about 20 minutes while we sat there. When he took our drink order it came out wrong and they forgot our appetizer. We ordered our food and they forgot to bring out the only salad ordered. Our food was great! That was the bright star! The service has a lot to be desired. I understand getting people in the service industry to hire is hard, but if you're hiring people - train them and keep someone upstairs at all times when you have customers. Our nephew and his wife suggested we eat here on lovely Friday evening. They'd been there before and loved it. Ambience is comfort elegance, upstairs has a fireplace, lounge and live entertainment. We were treated to a nice acoustic guitarist. I had the lobster special, husband Right Brain had Shrimp Capellini, family both had Salmon Tuscan. We all enjoyed and will be be back again. I guess the good reviews are really more about what kind of food is available in Minden. The place has a very pleasant atmosphere and service is very good. Food all sounded super yummy and we ordered a lot of it. Unfortunately, it reminded me of 1980's school cafeteria renditions of the named dishes. The bruschetta tasted like a bed diced tomorrow toasted on thin low quality bread no properly toasted. The pear salad consisted of bagged baby spinach, 4 small slices of not firm, probably canned pears, 2 slice of red onion and some low flavor goat cheese. The Balsamic-Dijon portobello mushrooms and shrimp was small and odd flavored. The shrimp dip was a low flavor salty fondue with a couple shrimp and spinach with low quality toasted bread. The Minestrone was not the most flavorful , but was stocked full of noodles beans and such and was quite good, It only thing on the menu that I would order again besides drinks.The chicken marsala was like the school cafeteria mystery overcooked thin cut of chicken with the mystery sauce and served with small diced hashbrown potatoes probably from a bag, sprinkled with a pungent blue cheese; it was quite an odd pairing. The bread pudding was mushy. The spumoni was the lowest quality ice cream, it tasted like a cheap Neapolitan with some low quality pistachio and absolutely no candied fruit or pistachio pieces in it. Had dinner at this Italian restaurant, and was a bit disappointed, mostly in the menu, there was so many items with mushrooms in them, was hard to find something with out them, I am not a mushroom fan, tho my husband loves them, he ordered the mushroom, spinach raviolis and very much enjoyed them. I ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce, it was pretty good, but not great. The service was good. We ordered an appetizer, cuz there were half prize, so we had the garlic bread with garlic sauce on it, but it never arrived, so the waitress brought it with our dinner, and was nice enough not to charge us for it.
