We tried the cream cheese wontons -the cream cheese filling has a more savory taste than sweet. They come in an order of 4 and so we each tried one. Yum! Our table tried the chicken sandwich, the jicama ribs and the pork chop. Great flavors on all of the dishes. We also tried both desserts- and really liked the affogato! Our experience mirrored another review on here: great service, but the dishes were a miss. We couldn't finish the Crispy Pork Lettuce Wraps ($15). The menu describes "Vietnamese roast pork," but what arrived tasted deep fried rather than roasted -- tough, flavorless, with unrendered fat that was still solid. Given the "lettuce wraps" framing, I'd expected something closer to ground pork; instead it was fatty slices that didn't match the description I envisioned. The thin rice noodles underneath were fine but plain and unseasoned, with scallions scattered over the noodles. The chicken sandwich was extremely greasy, and the heavy-handed sauce turned it into a soggy mess -- the bun fell apart almost immediately. It reminded me of Blue Barn's Nashville hot chicken (from the State Fair), but executed poorly. Maybe we came on an off night? Worth flagging: both dishes are listed as entrées but came without sides, and the menu only offers three appetizers. This has been by far one of the best dining services I have experienced. The atmosphere was beautiful and overall created a great environment for good conversation. The staff was so kind and attentive, our server was amazing, she did a great job at checking in with our table. She made us feel welcomed and was there to help with anything that we needed. Food came out in a timely manner, not only that, food was so delicious! As a Southeast Asian myself who enjoys the traditional tastes of Southeast Asian cuisine, the food had a high quality spin on Vietnamese tastes. I ordered the Crispy Pork Lettuce Wraps which was a great balance of light tasting but still fulfilling my appetite. The pork was tender and melts in your mouth with the great combination of sitting on top of vermicelli noodles that does a great job at absorbing the sauce that comes with it, overall creating an delicious and addictive taste with every bite. The owner came out to talk to us, he was so cool, friendly, and down to earth! It was fun to talk to him as if he was one of our buddies. Unassuming isn't quite the right word for what to expect when walking up to Khues Kitchen. But walk in, and you're greeted warmly into a lovely modern, inviting space. Snagged a spot on a whim, but they are busy and modest in size enough that I'd recommend a reservation. It's a relaxed and casual but elevated environment. Service was prompt and friendly. There is a lovely wine and beer list with lots of global options for everyone. The water service is exceptional. Our glasses were never less than 3/4 full The food menu has unique items featuring contemporary Vietnamese dishes. We had the chili crunch wings and sticky jicama wings. The texture on the wings was fantastically crispy. The sticky jicama ribs- I need to wax poetic about these for a moment. Firstly, they look like real ribs. The soy glaze is flavorful with just enough spice. The "rib" pieces perfectly emulated a bbq pork rib both visually and texturally. The jicama has the texture of the crispy fatty bits, and the tofu is designed with the striations and coloring of actual meat. The stylization of the innards of this dish is on par or better than plates at many high end prix fixe places. I'm just a humble casual food reviewer, but in my opinion, this dish alone deserves a Michelin star. I've had actual real bbq ribs that were not nearly as good as these. There is no ostentatious fan fare, but Khue's deserves it. My dining experience was above and beyond my expectations. read more

We've gone to the pop ups a few times and always enjoyed the food so was excited to stop by the restaurant. Got the bánh mì xíu mại and the spicy chicken sando. The chicken was perfectly crispy and love the herb aioli. The spicy chicken sando has always been a favorite from going to previous pop-ups, but also enjoyed the bánh mì xíu mại. After having Khue's Kitchen as a pop-up years ago, I was so excited to go to their grand opening this weekend at their new location on Raymond Ave! The five spice tofu is my favorite item - the tofu is so chewy and crunchy and has a fantastic savory five spice glaze. We also enjoyed the Thai tea tres leches cake. Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted with the trendiness of the place. The interior decor was inviting with a touch of industrial charm. The waitress was warm and attentive. We started off with their new drink, lychee lemonade. It was refreshing and the combination of lychee and lemonade was perfectly balance. We then ordered tofu ribs, grilled pork and the chicken sando. I was impressed with the tofu ribs which was unbelievably delicious and tasty. I could actually eat the 'fat' and not feel guilty about it! The grilled pork chop (not pictured cos we dug in before the camera could eat!) was tender, sumptuous and paired so well with the spicy salad. My son had the chicken sandwich which was well-balanced in terms of its texture and flavors, from the crispness and tenderness of the meat, the lightness of the sauce to the bun. We rounded up our meal with 2 affogato which we nearly licked the bottom with of our glasses. Next time, we will try the Thai tea tres leches! The only people who should come to Khue's Kitchen are those that crave intensely rich flavors, beautifully presented dishes, brought to your table by attentively engaging servers. Others should stay away. The setting is industrial that simultaneously manages to be warm and comfortable. We greatly enjoyed the famous chicken wings, so crisp, so tasty, so not greasy. Khue's chicken salad is the chefs take on the classic dish. Not so classic, but amazing were the sticky jicama ribs. Difficult to describe, they are thinly sliced bursts of spicy crispness. The food was all very delicious. So much that I went back the following week before the leave Bar Brava (1/13/24). A few points on the food: 1]Fried Wings- You can have it with or without chili crunch. Or like I did... put it on half. First time I got it, it came with a tasty sweet sauce that went well on the rice. 2)Fried Chicken Sandwich- that herb aioli is so tasty. I bet it would be good on the rice too. 3)Cream Cheese Wontons- good, but the highlight for me was the dipping sauce. It had a light fruity flavor. I had a lovely experience. Khue's Kitchen @ Bar Brava is one place that is not talked about enough! I was so wowed with the cuisine. The spare ribs are out of this world. Paired with the cilantro and red cabbage with rice, compliment each other so well. Not to mention the egg soaked in soy sauce. Delicious! You can tell the menu was thought out so so well. I also shared a few other foods not pictured with my friends, wings and cheese wontons also amazing! The Vietnamese coffee with vanilla ice cream was such a delicious treat. And finally the Chè panna cotta. I can't rave about this dessert enough! The coconut cream with jackfruit and lychee was quite the treat. As a Vietnamese American, I really appreciated thr care to have Viet fusion that tastes right! Some Viet spots or Viet fusion spots waters down their flavors to appeal to a larger audience, but Khue's has all the right flavors to be new yet nostalgic at the same time. I love the caramelized spare ribs with the jammy egg, five spice tofu, chili oil wings, and the chicken sandwich. I'm sure I would have loved everything else too if I had ordered it! The dessert is also spot on- affogato and coconut panna cotta. You order with the staff (and you can also order Bar Brava's wine) but if you are lucky enough, Chef Eric would be in front of you cooking and you'll get to chat with him. He's humble, talented, and has a true love for cooking. Khue's will be at Bar Brava until December, which is a cozy and intimate space- perfect for one on one conversations and dates. I'll be sad to see Chef Eric go, but can't wait to see what his next project and plans for Khue's will be! read more

Went to check out this place over the weekend after my wife suggested we check it out and I was pleasantly surprised. All of the food we ordered was really good. I'm not a huge chicken sandwich fan but their spicy chicken sando was flavorful and the chicken patty itself was crispy and juicy. The jicama ribs were good too. It had a soy glaze on there that was sweet and tasty. It definitely made the dish enjoyable for me. My favorite dish would have to be the sirloin. It was a nice cut of meat and it was cooked perfectly. I thought it was cool how the chef came out to the dining area to check every now and then to make sure it was cooked right for whoever ordered the steak. With that being said, the staff and chefs were all really nice, cool, and attentive. After our appetizers came out, it did take a little while to get our first entree, which was the chicken sandwich. After the chicken sandwich, it did take a little while again for the steak and jicama ribs to come out. This didn't make or break anything for us, but I kinda wished all of the entrees would have been brought out together instead of one after another, waiting up to 10 minutes in between. Great place. Wontons and spring rolls to start. The rolls were just average (they weren't actually rolls either) and were the worst part of the meal. We'll try the salad next time. Our table had the pork chop, ribeye, chicken sandwich and fried rice. All were excellent. They can omit the spice on a lot of their foods, which is nice. Pork chop had a great char and was cooked perfectly. It's in a weird location in an industrial area of off University and parking can be tough, but it's worth seeking out. At Khue's Kitchen at Bar Brava, my experience was overall delightful, meriting a 4.5-star review. The complimentary wine samples were a fantastic touch, adding an extra layer of hospitality. While the rice dish was slightly on the saltier side for my taste, it was still enjoyable. The food, in general, was solid--reliable and satisfying without necessarily pushing culinary boundaries. The wings, however, were a standout dish and possibly the best I've had, making them a must-try item on the menu. The Bao was simple with well made baos and delicious pork belly, rounding out a meal that was both comforting and well-executed. For bar food it's phenomenal, you can't go wrong. The service was the biggest problem for this place - THERE WAS BARELY ANY RESTAURANT ETIQUETTE. We had a reservation that we showed up in time for. We were told that the table wasn't quite ready as the guests who were still occupying it were just finishing dessert, which honestly was ok. We waited about 5 mintues. We then got seated but we weren't informed of who our server was or that someone would be with us shortly. We continued to sit there for a solid 15 minutes with no interaction from ANY wait staff; it literally felt like we were invisible. We almost walked out, I had to finally ask someone if we can put in our order and finally a waitress was assigned to us. The service was fine after that. Regarding the food, it was decent. It definitely wasn't anything impressive; your typical viet style and viet taste dishes (Sticky Jicama Ribs and Grill Sirloin). The dishes weren't served hot - they were almost warm. Again, I wasn't impressed. I won't be a returning customer because I feel the food you can get at any viet restaurant and maybe even for a better price but what's really keeping me away is the HORRIBLE SERVICE experience. read more

But the rest of the food were awesome, especially the chicken sando! The waitress was awesome and super friendly. This cozy restaurant has left the best impressions! Hospitable hosts, delicious dishes, simple menu, and wonderful dessert. The fried chicken was so crunchy and juicy.
