Best community coffee shop in PDX area. Large modular space for community events like yoga, poetry readings and music. Great study areas with positive ambient sound and not too loud music. Portland's coffee scene is endless, but this seems like one of the few reliable places if you need to study in the suburbs. Plenty of tables, outlets, and space to sprawl your books if needed. A year on and a name change later, still true. This is one of the places that actually makes and serves the extra shots one pays for. Very reasonable as high-end coffee goes; staff seem to enjoy working there; lots of great places to sit for a meetup. It would be nice if there were more parking, but that's a problem shared throughout the strip mall. Bottom line is I would rather park there and have to hunt a space than go to some other places where there is always plenty of room. read more

They're open late and have a nice variety of seating options. This is my go-to place to write papers for grad school, and I can give a cafe no higher praise than that. I usually get the house chai. It's quite a cute coffee shop that makes some of the most delicious, prettiest matcha lattes I've ever had. They also offer tea in teapots for those that plan to stay for awhile to study and offer refills on them. The dining/seating area was surprisingly spacious, with tons of open seating. A student/coffee lounger's dream! I only got a chance to try one of their signature drinks - The Goblin King! - and it was fantastic! Sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. I love these guys! Just the sweetest group of people working here and their coffee is excellent. They also have matcha and a long list of teas and custom espresso drinks (goblin king!). Food selection is limited since they don't have a full kitchen, but they have toasted bagel sandwiches and snacks. The space is large but comfortable/casual. My favorite is a tepid latte - no flavorings, and needs to be large for my ideal balance of milk and espresso (all sizes are two shots). Something about their ingredients/process produces a deliciously creamy drink that is lightly sweet and never bitter despite the solid coffee flavor. Barely any sugar needed and consistently made. Spoken as a super picky B, I can't speak any more highly of their lattes - would take a good one over ice cream! I've been coming here since I moved to Oregon over a year ago. Misa and Moose have always been so kind and so friendly. I spent the first year ordering the same damn drink, which as the butt of a million jokes, but also worked out cuz when I walked in they already knew. Then I decided, what the hell, why not try something new? and Moose always entertains me by making whatever random drink he thinks of. I'm never disappointed and I really never go anywhere else. The space is underutilized. When i read about a few reviews about the decor i was a little confused but upon visiting I totally understood. Its underwhelming. There is tons of space but its been filled with tacky plastic tables with wood print. There are entire spaces that can be utilized better. In addition its very dark in there. There is little natural lighting and the indoor lighting is very dim. I had a odd sense as if it was right between a coffee shop and a dive bar. The coffee was fine, but the atmosphere left me wanting more. The few hours i was there only a few customers came in and none stayed. The space felt very cold, dark, and empty read more

I was pretty happy with my study sesh last week! Adequate lighting and a couple choices for free wifi. I ordered the lavender lemonade before settling into some papers, and I was so delighted by the light and sweet aroma of my drink. Served in a mason jar, my lemonade was the perfect complement to the eclectic artwork displayed around me. My only complaint is that there is only one restroom for the entire shop. Some oddball teenager decided to take a number 2 the day I was there, so I wasn't very pleased about waiting 20 minutes for the bathroom :( read more

This space looks almost exactly the same as when it opened around November 2015, but someone else bought the shop, its name, etc. around January 19th, 2016. The coffee and staff beforehand were great. I've only looked at the "new" shop, but I haven't actually tried any of their coffee drinks. I'm sure it's fine, as it's still Stumptown Coffee, but otherwise I have no idea. I don't know how I feel about someone buying a coffee shop and continuing as if it was the same creative team as the original Solace. None of the original staff or creative team are part of this "Solace," but it's misleading because they are continuing with the original logo, designed space, and color scheme. Confusing!! They don't have the same drink recipes anymore, so... ): Wish this wasn't the case, I liked their fun drinks which are now gone. Today at 1230pm we wanted to have an iced coffee. We were greeted right away with a smile. As we were waiting , I noticed a man with his dog sitting at an inside table. The dog was doing dog stuff like licking it's behind and scratching itself. The customer was totally maskless and leaning over the counter talking to the workers. A dog dies not belong in an eating establishment. I really want to like this place, but I will go somewhere where they look out for the health and safety of the customer. read more
