I came here for lunch when a colleague recommended it highly. For $16, I ordered the sashimi lunch ( it comes with two shumai, a salad, miso soup, rice, a california roll, and a variety of super-fresh sashimi). Everything was lovely - the price was a bit much for lunch (I wished there was a "sashimi lunch" option that was just miso and sashimi...) - but I cant complain on a day I knew I wanted to splurge. The quality was great... The wait for food took a while (they dont have a menu online, so I walked there, ordered, and had to wait for it. Next time, I know what to get!)... so if this is your first time, factor that into your arrival and bring home a takeout menu! I look forward to heading back there in summer, when its too hot to put anything steaming into your mouth mid-day. read more

Ki Sushi is very quickly becoming a Friday Night ritual for me. After an hour of burning down the road at Brooklyn Bodyburn, we head down the road to Ki to sabotage all of our hard work. Any of their rolls or apps with truffle will make you weak in the knees (Side note: This is coming from someone who thinks truffle is overhyped and a buzzword for foodie amateurs). Excellent service. A waiter noticed that our table was a bit wobbly and within seconds a swat team was under my table at work. Did they ask me to move? Nope just jumped right under the table and fixed it. Was there 4 or 5 of them under there? I don't know it all happened so fast. Food: - wild mushroom soup - mushrooms that float plentifully in clear, not too salty soup - Lobster tuna roll appetizer was refreshing. Three pieces of chunky lobster wrapped inside tuna atop a puree of avocado - Garlic broccoli was a good choice to mix things up a bit - simple dish but assembled nicely and decorated with roasted pine nuts - Great deal for sashimi. 23 or so dollars gets you 18 pieces. - Volcano roll to finish off an excellent meal. Super awkward walking in here at lunch, expecting a casual place. Ki is anything but. Dark, with a thoughtfully-lit interior (the main lights are on the sushi chefs), it is stark, simple, and beautiful. The music is on the louder side, better for dinner/after dinner drinks. I loved my sushi here. This is by far the best I've had in the area- better than Hibino and way better than the other sushi places on Smith. The sushi is slightly pricier than your average - say $7 bucks for a spicy tuna roll - but you get what you pay for, in the best way possible. The rolls are much bigger than most I've had in other places, and they are SO FRESH. Uber fresh. I loved the salmon, I loved the tuna. They were perfectly prepared and just wonderful. The SO got chicken teryaki - he still is hesstant with sushi. Happily, he enjoyed his dish a lot as well. Also, as a side note - the free tea here is pretty good, comparatively. read more

We were going to go to a place in our hood, but glad we traveled. The atmosphere was nice for a date and the fish tasted high quality. We got the sushi platter, Ki roll, TNT lover and fancy roll. The Ki roll was our least favorite, only because it was so hard to eat. The TNT and spicy girl didn't need anything added to it, it was so tasty. Went for dinner with a friend. Was pleasantly surprised. The tables are standard sushi spot close, but somehow I didn't feel like I was sitting on top of my neighbor. Most importantly the service was great. No one hounded us for what we wanted to eat. They allowed me to modify one of their speciality maki rolls, the spicy girl (I don't like spicy tuna.) Started out with a Sapporo and seared duck breast with herb spring roll and fig glaze. The duck was perfectly cooked served on top of a nice sauce. The herb spring roll and mushroom was a nice touch. Continued with the shipped directly from Tokyo Supreme Omakase. I don't remember exactly what each type of nigiri I was served. All of it was good. Each velvety piece had just the right amount of wasabi. The slices of fish were quite big. Toro, arctic char, and unagi were the items that I remember the server telling me about. I'm obsessed with their evergreen roll - easily the best veggie sushi roll I've ever had. That and a few of their ginormous sake-in-bamboo carafes, and I'm pretty much in heaven! A few complaints tho': 1) Comfort: it's ALWAYS really cold in there. I guess that's good for fish, but I will go back into my apt to grab a sweater/scarf (year round!) if I know I'll end up there later. The banquet is really uncomfortable to sit on and the pillows are like flat bricks. I'll take the chair, thanks. 2) I really wish they would offer brown rice on their rolls. pros: It's just so good. For a first time at any place, if all the dishes you order are good, chances are they'll be good consistently. We ordered the sushi deluxe, a salmon roll, and the tempura entree, and between two ppl, it was plenty. cons: There's nothing bad I can say about the food, but the place itself is somewhat small and cramped. This is not the place to get intimate as the people next to you will hear everything you say. It will only come in handy because the stranger sitting next to you will be able to hear you apologize when you inevitably bump into them. overall: I'd go back again and take whoever wanted to come with me. Best sushi in the area, hands down! I have been here 3 or 4 times, had several different rolls and apps, and it's always been wonderful! I personally love their seaweed salad and the boyfriend always gets the seafood soup that is seriously a meal unto itself - the thing is stuffed with mussles, shrimp, white fish...etc. My roommate gets their takeout a lot, and they are always really quick and never mess up her specialty order. The food was great, I ordered koni salad, a warm wild mushroom salad, eel and avocado roll and lastly the spicy salmon roll. Everything was delicious and came out of the kitchen quickly. All the ingredients tasted freshly prepared, especially the spicy salmon roll there was so much salmon it was almost overflowing. The atmosphere was modern romantic, good for couples. Slightly dim, wood and brick walls, and some dry flower decor. I had the Omakase. As far as traditional sushi goes it was pretty darned good. The fish was fresh and cut properly, not too thick, not too thin, and the right angle of cut. The vinegar in the rice was a tad overpowering, which too away from the flavor of the fish. They did get the consistency tight which places them in the upper echelon of sushi restaurants. Best I've ever had? Nope, but I'd go back again. The decor is really classy, the lighting is nice without being overly bright and the staff is very attentive and friendly. Hands down, this sushi restaurant in Brooklyn is the best. I have no regrets traveling from Washington Heights to come here. I found this place on yelp and decided to come at night with my friend. I have no other words to describe it other than a "must-try". When I came to this restaurant, the ambience was traditional, yet trendy, and it was nice enough to be a good date night place. The wait staff was very kind, the menus were clean, and the sushi chef was very meticulous with their preparation. I called in advance for reservations, and they honored the time right to the minute. Once we ordered, the sushi arrived right after it was done and the quality of the ingredients are seen up front. There are no funky smells or anything, the fish is fresh, the rice is fresh, the seaweed is very good. Overall, just wonderful flavors, very fresh, very clean. I usually do not eat sashimi when I am out, since I do not trust the quality of the fish at many sushi places; however, this one won me over. I trusted them to have the highest quality salmon and tuna, and they did not disappoint. Whenever I am back in town again, I will definitely try this place again. Very impressed with this place. They were right on the ball with service and quality of food. The ambiance is really nice; it would be good for a first date or a catch up with a friend. A step above your average looking sushi joint. The sashimi was very good and the chef cut the pieces the right size...none of those 1/2 lb pieces that are impossible to eat in one or two bites. The Sashimi Delux platter had 18 pieces of a unique variety of fishes (I believe around $28). We also had three roll, which were pretty massive. The Fantastic Roll was, well, fantastic. Be warned the portions are quite large, especially sides such as edamame and some of the veggies, so order accordingly. The prices might be a few $ more than some other places on Smith St, but you're really get a significant amount of food that is super delicious, and nice atmosphere read more

Really incredible sushi at a fair price. The Truffle TNT was AMAZING. A ball of crunchy, truffley, tuna covered deliciousness. The sake reccomended to us by the waiter was dry and super smooth; a great compliment to the meal. The fish was impeccably fresh, and it was obvious from the way my Naruto roll looked that it was some quality tuna! Since my first visit here over the summer, this has become my go-to sushi place in Brooklyn. In fact, everyone i've brought here has agreed this may be the best sushi place in the neighborhood! Good ambience, reasonably-priced menu, attentive service, drinkable house wines, delicious Miso, and most importantly, sushi I'm not scared of. After a few incidents with raw fish, I'm quite fussy where I eat now. So many restaurants leave their fish standing around so long that it actually loses it's bright colors. So when there's a 5-minute wait to get a table, as there often is at Ki, that's the first good sign that food is moving through the restaurant instead of standing around oxidizing. Wow. and again wow. Perhaps one of the best sushi meals I have had in the US. We had the supreme omakase. The one disappointment was that the selection was not terribly exotic. That said, the fish was very fresh and Ki was very generous in portions. The slabs are probably 50% bigger than what you find in Manhattan. The must have is the TNT roll. Tuna and truffle. That is really all one needs to know. It is a game changer. The live scallop was also very fresh with 4 nice sized slices per order. Both must haves. The side dishes are what makes this place a stand out. The garlic sauteed broccoli had incredible depth of flavor for such a simple dish. Also, the spicy seafood soup is a nice warm addition to the meal. The soup was a flavorful broth filled with plump prawms, mussels and fresh vegis. It had lots of flavor without being heavy. It leaves plenty of room to pack down more sushi. The service was also top notch. It is rare to have servers so attentive and pay so much attention to detail. My napkin fell from my lap and before I even noticed, a waiter handed me a clean napkin and picked up my original one from the floor. Also, I was wobbling the table a bit and before I could ask for any help, the hostess came by with two doorstops to stabilize the table. We had gotten the standard miso soup along with seaweed salad for starters and for the entree we went with a volcano and foxy lady roll.
