    Miso Ramen Sushi for 2
    Lesa R.

This is hands down the best sushi in Park Slope. If you're serious about sushi, you must try Sushi Yashin. The fish melts in your mouth. The miso has body - like a fine northern Rhône. If Jiro Dreams of Sushi - I dream of Sushi Yashin.

    Spicy Tuna and Rainbow Roll

A first time delivery experience with Sushi Yashin allowed me to feel lukewarm and underwhelmed. The delivery on a Monday night was prompt but it makes sense since Mondays are usually quiet. It was a simple order of 5 Maki rolls. One, the Spicy Tuna was a BOGO. The other two were Avo rolls and we split the Rainbow Roll for sharing. The photos look nice enough, but..... While the seafood appeared to be fresh, the Spicy Tuna had a strong metallic/mercury taste that came through the mayo and spice. To be honest, it was off putting and I didn't eat the entire 8 pieces. I just had half. The Avo Roll was good/fresh but it's kind of difficult to mess it up. Yes I've had Avo rolls where the Avocado was slightly brown. Yuck. The Rainbow Roll was a combination of different fish such as Tuna and Salmon and maybe Yellpwtail. It was a strictly raw seafood roll without much flavor and not very memorable. Overall opinion? Blah.

Excellent sushi. Very fresh and very unique. One of the best I had. The place is pretty small so might need to wait a little. Not a good place for large party.

Very friendly and attuned staff in a small intimate restaurant. The black cod was very moist and the ebi tempura was very flaky! Omakase selection was fresh, especially the toro pieces and uni! The omakase was reasonably priced and I have definitely had worse omakase that costed more. Seaweed for the hand roll was crunchy, which is definitely a plus! I just wish the pieces would come one at a time, but nonetheless it was tasty and definitely a good experience. Definitely worth trying! (: Thank you for reading and good luck!

The best Japanese sushi that I ever had in Brooklyn, my best friend said. I treated my best friend a Christmas dinner at Sushi Yashin last night, the experience was truly delightful. The ambiance exuded a serene charm, setting a perfect stage for an exceptional dinning experience. The service was great, we all so welcomed when we stepped in the restaurant till we left. We ordered two appetizers, one sushi sashimi combo, one salmon teriyaki and four pieces of Uni sashimi. All the food featured fresh, high quality ingredients that left a lasting impression on my taste buds. The Sake offered a perfect compliments to the exquisite flavors on the table. Sushi Yashin is truly mastered the art of Japanese cuisine, highly recommended.

I pass by here all the time and finally decided to try it - no regrets! The interior of the outdoor dining areas is very simple and cozy. The staff is very friendly and service is fast. The fish taste really fresh - the himachi carpaccio is not only refreshing but the sauce on top also complimented the yellowtail well. The uni here is ok - it's not the best uni I've had and I probably wouldn't get it again. I had the Kaisen don which includes salmon, yellowtail, tuna, uni and ikura. I would just get the salmon chirashi in the future, which also includes ikura though not stated. The salad that comes along is a little elevated from the typical salads with sushi - it has a different sauce (maybe balsamic?) but it is a surprising change from the usual ones you find. I love plum wine but theirs is on the sweeter side for my tastes. (Plum wine is generally sweet.) All in all, a good sushi spot that I would visit again sometime.

Chirashi - fish is of much lower quality than sushi omakase
    Essie L.

The sushi omakase set is good value ($50) for 10 pieces of nigiri and a small tuna roll. The fish quality and selection isn't top notch, but you also shouldn't expect that at $50 a pop. However I strongly advise against ordering the cheaper raw fish items such as the chirashi. I made the mistake of ordering the two together, and after finishing the sushi omakase, the chirashi was a total letdown and left a bad taste in my mouth (literally). The quality of the fish in the chirashi is just not the same; perhaps I should have known that as it's reflected in the price (below $30, can't remember exactly).

First time here, and we ordered a bit of everything. First got the soft shelled crab and the sweet shrimp tempura. The crab was good, but the tempura was just okay, did not taste the sweetness of the shrimp. Next, we had the ocean roll and rainbow roll. The ocean roll waa definitely the star of the show. Fantastix combination and mix of flavors, and the rainbow row was simple and fresh. Finally we ordered the scallop ala carte and sashimi deluxe. The scallop was very fresh, juicy, and big. The sashimi deluxe was of decent quality!

Great local spot for good quality sushi. I got the regular sushi deluxe dinner which comes with 8 pieces of sushi, a tuna roll and a soup/salad for $27. Found this place on Yelp and wanted to take my mom on a nice last minute omakase experience without having to make reservation weeks in advance. Sushi yashin had great reviews and availability. Came in and sat outside, weather was soo nice and there was private space for our party. Servers were attentive, patient and took time to explain everything to us! The food was amazing! We tried the sushi as well as the sushi and sashimi omakase courses, which were extremely filling and decadent pieces of sushi!

    Shishito peppers
    Jenny L.

Food: The Shishito peppers and hamachi carpaccio was ordered as appetizers. Both delicious were fresh and delicious. I ordered the sashimi deluxe as my entree and it was such a great choice. The fish cuts were all well presented and absolutely delicious. The fish they used tasted super fresh. They also had a decent selection of sake to choose from as well! Cost: As with all sushi restaurants, sushi is expensive. However, I thought this place was a tad more expensive for how much/many pieces they gave. My friend and I enjoy omakase however the cost here was on the more expensive side for how many pieces they give. Also the dessert for the omakase was a little dissapointing which made use not want to choose that option even more. Environment: Very cozy. The place is not a big place and I like that. The decoration was nice and not too over the top and dramatic. The bathroom was nice, clean and well kept. Service: The waitress was very good. We didn't have any issues with waiting or needing to flag down someone because she checked up on very well. Uniqueness: The experience itself was unique however I would come here for regular/special rolls and sashimi rather than an omakase. The selection of drinks here were nice as well!

An absolute gem in South Park Slope!…read more We happened to be staying at a friend's place a few blocks away and was looking for something open on the later side with great food. We searched Yelp and came across Konoba Yakitori, and it absolutely hit the spot. My daughter and I loved our entire experience--everything from the food to the local neighborhood vibe to the incredibly friendly, attentive staff. Everything we ordered was fresh, cooked to perfection, and reasonably priced. We had the gyoza, edamame, Hamachi Lover, Ebi Shu Mai, and the $15 Beef Set (three beef skewers), accompanied by hot tea and Ramune. The beef skewers were a highlight--tender meat with seasoning that was spot-on. Warm, welcoming, prompt, and super efficient. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating, and our waiter was extremely helpful in guiding us through the menu. Top-tier service all around. The space is small and cozy with a simple, comfortable design. Seating is a bit tight and close to neighboring tables, but there's nothing wrong with being snug, rght? It gets busy, but customers tend to eat quickly, so even without reservations, the wait moves well. Most importantly, despite it being a intimate spot, we never felt rushed at all. It's simple, which is what makes it amazing. An incredible restaurant all around--I love this place and can't wait to return. Highly recommend!

The Kaishin don was the star. The fish was so fresh and the seaweed added a nice crunch. The mentai pasta was nice a creamy and the bacon bits added nice flavor. Reservations become available 14 days in advance on Resy, so I'd highly recommend booking early to secure a table during normal eating hours. Sadly, since it was just the two of us, we couldn't sample as much of the menu as we wanted. Our server recommended a hot appetizer and a fancier option from their Summer Special menu: KARAAGE - 14 Each order came with five thick pieces of chicken karaage. The chicken arrived hot and juicy, seasoned well enough to be enjoyed on its own or dipped in the side of shichimi mayo. This was a great appetizer to share, and I'd recommend it if you're looking for a reliable classic. TEMAKI SET - 95 Served in roughly an 8"x8" wooden box, this set was lavishly topped toro, Hokkaido uni, ikura, and possibly Iberian ham, with crispt nori sheets on the side to make DIY handrolls. After scooping a bit of everything into a little wrap, I was greeted with the most intense, fresh sea flavors. The toro and Iberian ham were fatty and buttery, blending seamlessly with the velvety smooth uni and the fresh, bursting pops of ikura. I had to pause after every bite just to deeply savor it, and I lost count of how many times I said, "Wow, this is so good." Since I don't live in NYC, I generally avoid repeating restaurants even if I enjoyed them. However, Ozakaya is an exception to this rule -- it's easily one of the best meals I've eaten during all my recent visits. I don't know where they source their seafood, but it's incredibly fresh and packed with umami. Even days after, I'm still thinking about the velvety sweetness of that uni, and I can't wait for my next visit.

The portion size lined up with the cost, and more importantly, the quality delivered. Every sip of the broth and every slurp of the udon made it clear this was a thoughtfully prepared dish. To start off, we had the Cheeseburger Dumplings ($12), which was so unique. We've never had something like this and they executed it really well. The dumplings were filled with meat and fried with a skirt. The cheese part was topped over it like a melty dressing, so a delicious and special dish here. Plus, it had a side salad to balance all the grease here. For the entrees, we had to get the udon and shared the Niku Udon ($25) and Salmon Ikura Udon ($30). It was a nice combo between a hot and cold udon. The Niku was your classic udon bowl filled with plenty of beef and a perfectly soft-boiled egg. The broth was sweet and savory for a warm and comforting meal. On the other hand, the salmon udon was quite unique with matcha udon and fresh salmon. There is a dashi to pour and mix into the noodles, which still gave it flavor and the slurp you want in a udon. Both were so great in its own way. Even their ramen also looked great, but I love all noodles. Definitely a great spot to dine near Barclays Center. Love to come back whenever I'm in the area again. The udon dishes are on the pricier side, but they're huge bowls.
