    Damages of car

I'm in Mississippi. Saw Lexus listed by Klan. Stopped by lot in Dallas for 30 minutes on way to San Antonio. The rest was handled remotely. Travis potash helped me find 3rd party shop to inspect car and worked with me to fix a couple items the inspection recommended. He and Kian helped me secure financing and also setup delivery to Mississippi which made for delivery in a day. Excellent experience and I highly recommend Kian and Travis.

    The ruptured brake line

If I could give zero stars, I would. I had meant to write this review a long time ago, but seeing as I just got an email asking me how a year has been with my truck...what better time than now. I struggle to find words for just how shady, rude, and deceitful my experience with this dealership was. I'll try to summarize all the issues...but it's a long list. I purchased a 1982 Toyota FJ45 truck from them last February. I paid a bit of a premium on it, over third party, because I wanted a well inspected vehicle and on their site it said all vehicles go through a 150 point inspection. They NEVER had this thing on a lift nor did any sort of inspection. If they had, they would have seen how dangerous the vehicle they sent me was. I'll go chronologically. The truck arrived and I immediately noticed that the doors wouldn't lock. The lock cylinders were different and there was no key for them. They claimed "we never tried the locks because we don't get much crime here"...BS. I then noticed that the brake lights didn't work. I called the dealership and they stated the brake lights worked when they shipped it. This was a lie. It isn't possible that the brake lights worked. I traced the wiring and realized the brake lights were on the same fuse as the horn which didn't work. Someone accidentally wired a negative to a positive on the horn circuit, thus blowing a fuse every single time, as soon as the car was started. Even worse is that someone swapped the 15A fuse for a 30A fuse to try and lazily troubleshoot. What this did was cause the wiring near the horn to get too hot and MELT the wire shielding. How do you not notice this with an inspection? So, I fixed this on my own time and parts. I asked them to cover it all. A few days later, I took the car on an hour long drive on a 55mph road. When I got close to the end destination, I noticed a dragging noise and looked in the side mirror to notice a lot of smoke. Seconds later, I lost all braking power. I had my girlfriend and dog in the truck. Thank GOD I was able to coast to a stop with nobody in front of me. I hopped out to find the brake lines ruptured and BOTH rear brake calipers destroyed. The driver, rear caliper had completely fallen from the carrier bracket and jammed in the wheel. The pass, rear was hanging on by 1 bolt. The truck had a clunk sound when starting from a stop since I got it. I thought maybe it was just the old transmission. Now I know it was the calipers rotating on 1 bolt and slamming into the wheel. If Kian had inspected the vehicle, even just a little bit, they would have noticed that the bolts were loose, stripped, and too long for the calipers - having some thick, cast metal spacers put in to accommodate for the length. I was furious about this. This could have KILLED me and my family, had someone been in front of us. I called Kian and the gentleman that sold me the car, not the owner, said he they would cover it. A day later he informed me that the owner decided to only cover the lock cylinders because "it's an old truck". As someone who has owned and worked on old vehicles for 15 years, I've never once had anything fall off while driving. I've never had a hot wire routed into a ground. I've never been lied to during a purchase. I understand things going wrong on an old vehicle...like the water pump going out, or needing a new starter, but never should I expect that the brakes would fall off or the wiring be catching fire, especially on a vehicle that went through a "150 point inspection". This is when it somehow gets WORSE. I called to talk to the owner, several times. I was told he would call me back when he got back from an errand. He never called. Another day goes by and no call. I called back and was put on the phone with somebody who wasn't the owner, but presumably someone hire up than the gent that sold me the car. This guy was incredibly rude and dismissive of everything that happened. He took ZERO responsibility for anything and never admitted fault, even as I explained my reasoning as to how the vehicle could not have been inspected at all and arrived to me this way and how if a car had been in front of me or a turn been coming up, myself and my family could have been killed. He then LIED to me...just flat out lied. He said he was "in the background" when I initially called the sales rep to complain about the brakes failing. He said he overheard me state that I was "taking the vehicle offroad". This is 100% a lie. I never drove the truck off road. I was driving 50mph on a smooth 55mph road in Charleston, SC. So, either he was lying to me as a reactionary defense or the sales rep lied to him. Given his combative, macho man attitude on the phone...my guess is he fabricated the story. After a lot of arguing and him threatening to hang up, he eventually agreed to send me $750. I was tired of arguing, so I appeased and hung up. This review is character limited, so i'll end with...OH AND THE DRIVESHAFT LATER FELL OFF WHILE DRIVING

Long story short I found a car at a different dealership that was hard to find, they were a bit stiff and offered me below value what KBB said I could get for my great condition low mileage car with premium package. The dealer where I was getting the car I wanted (I'll just say it - Audi Plano!?#$% Avoid them at all costs if you want a FAIR deal) they offered me a RIDICULOUSLY below average amount - what KBB suggested. I walked out frustrated and tired physically and mentally. Thank God I noticed Carmax nearby and thought Why Not? I walked in, there was very much a dmv feel to it Lots of people, sitting everywhere, lot's of traffic in and out. There was a monitor with peoples names/appointment times at the front desk. I thought, wow how am I going to get an appraisal on a weekend with all these people? When it was my turn the guy was very nice and said no problem, we can do that for you and he re-directed me to the business window which was nearby. I was still skeptical and cranky given what I had been through at another dealership. Business desk had a lot going on too, but they seemed to be in good spirits with each other and the people who approached them! Complete opposite from previous dealer. I was greeted by Micah (sp?) who was seemed relaxed despite the busyness, she told me how appraisals worked in a matter of fact way, when I hesitantly asked how long all this would take, she quickly said it should be no more than 30 mins with a confident smile. I was still skeptical but refused to give away my car for the measly amount the other dealer offered me. Well, I went to the bathroom, people watched and yeah about 30 mins later, she came back with my appraisal quote! way more than MORE than what the stingy dealer down the street was offering me and ABOVE KBB !! If I didn't want the other car so bad at A/P, I would've gladly told them to touch grass! But unfortunately they had what I needed. I would have felt much better to have bought from Carmax, everyone I encountered there was friendly, professional and got things done in a great amount of time! I want to thank Micah again for being so patient with me and explaining things while I was under great personal stress and timelines as well (death in the family, trade in car papers expiring etc). I sold my beloved car to Carmax in Plano, had a GREAT experience from beginning to end and wanted to let them know I appreciate them being a positive part in such a stressful weekend for me. Thanks again!!!! (SH)

**** BUYER BEWARE ****…read more What started as a great experience quickly turned into one of the most concerning vehicle purchases I've ever been involved in. I was specifically told the vehicle had brand-new tires on the rear and their vehicles are in excellent condition as they deal with a lot of online and out of state purchases making it hard for customers to see and test drive first. After taking delivery, I discovered the tires were nowhere near new and the front ones were a huge risk (see pics below). Being misled about a safety-related item immediately made me question the accuracy of everything else I was told. Things became much worse when the financing issues started. The dealership later contacted me and said the deal needed to be re-contracted because the lender requested proof of income for my wife. I've requested to see the submitted documents to the lender as the application we submitted clearly stated she was a home maker with $0 income. During that process, I was instructed that if the bank called, my wife needed to tell them she was self-employed and earning $4,000 per month. The 3 re-contracts has caused me to pay my next payment for my trade in out of pocket to prevent a 30 day late mark on my credit. The problem is my wife is actually blessed to be a stay-at-home mom. She does not have to work, is not self-employed, and does not have her own income. To make matters worse, I later learned the vehicle had a CarFax report showing moderate damage with an accident reported. The whole underside of my front bumper is trashed with shredded fiberglass. (See pics below for crazy amount of damage to the bottom of my front bumper). This information was not presented to me before I signed the purchase documents and took delivery of the vehicle. In fact, I was not made aware of the CarFax report until after I had already signed, funded the transaction, and been in possession of the vehicle for approximately five days. Had this information been properly disclosed before the sale, it absolutely would have impacted my purchasing decision. The difference between the communication before and after the sale was night and day. Before signing, I received constant communication and immediate responses. After the deal was funded, support became nearly nonexistent. Between the misrepresentation of the tire condition, the financing issues, being instructed to represent income that did not exist, learning of a moderate damage CarFax only after taking possession of the vehicle, and the complete lack of post sale support, this has been one of the most disappointing automotive transactions I have experienced. I would strongly encourage anyone considering doing business here to inspect every inch of their vehicle, independently verify all representations, obtain and review the CarFax before signing, and carefully review every document associated with the transaction. Based on my experience, I would not do business with this dealership ever again.

I had been in contact with a representative named Alonte regarding the sale of my car. On the day of my appointment, I spoke with Alonte 30 minutes before arriving to confirm everything. I was on my way from Denton to Plano, and at no point was I told there was an issue with the offer. When I arrived, I was blindsided by an $1,100 price reduction. When I asked why I wasn't notified, they admitted that Alonte simply forgot to call me. I then spoke with the manager, Israel, who was incredibly rude, condescending, and dismissive. Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience and the wasted trip, Israel displayed zero accountability. When I expressed my frustration, he actually tried to argue with me and accused me of lying about the original offer. He made it clear that he did not care about my business or the fact that they had wasted my time. He literally shrugged off my concerns and told me I could "just sell it somewhere else." If you value your time and want to work with a business that operates with honesty and basic customer respect, go elsewhere. This dealership does not honor their word, and their management team is completely unprofessional.

Also, her grammar was god awful and couldn't spell certain words right. This was just a warning of the terrible experience I was about to go through. The only time I could get a response was after requesting multiple times to be transferred to a different salesperson. After weeks of poor communication, I finally decided to stop wasting time and drive from Austin to Dallas in person. I arrived fully prepared to purchase the vehicle that day. I wasn't negotiating the advertised price, wasn't asking for discounts, and was ready to drive the car off the lot. In other words, this should have been one of the easiest sales imaginable. Unfortunately, the experience only got worse when I arrived. The dealership felt chaotic and disorganized from the moment I walked in. The showroom was crowded, messy, and far from what you would expect from a dealership selling luxury vehicles. There were visible scratches and damage throughout the facility, and even basic details seemed neglected. To make matters worse, despite my repeated requests to work with someone else, Chassity immediately approached me and brought me back to her desk. When it came time to discuss numbers, the real issue surfaced. The advertised price on the third-party website was not the actual price they intended to sell the vehicle for. They had added roughly $3,000 in "optional" products and services, including a theft protection package. I told them plainly: remove the optional package, and I would buy the car immediately. That's when I received one of the most absurd explanations I've ever heard in a car-buying experience. I was told the package was "optional," but not in the sense that it could be removed. Instead, it was "optional" because I could choose to pay even more money to upgrade it. In other words, the package was mandatory, despite being presented as optional. At that point, it became clear that the advertised price was little more than bait to get customers in the door before adding thousands of dollars in mandatory extras. Between the lack of communication, the disregard for my requests, the chaotic dealership environment, and the misleading pricing tactics, this was easily the worst car-buying experience I have ever had.
