He explained that there was a perfect and clean title and Carfax for the Auto. I was interested in. Can you even imagine that he told me that when the car not only had a lemon law title issue, it also was a manufacturer buyback! But he continued to tell me there was nothing wrong with the car or title. Talk about untrustworthy. If you look in the reviews you'll find at least one person who bought one of these cars lemon and buyback and was never told about these major issues and even received financing without disclosing these issues. Under no circumstance should anyone purchase a vehicle from here. They sold me a lemon without ever mentioning the word or that it had a branded title. It was phrased that "the vehicle was returned to the manufacturer but it's had no problems since"... Not to mention they omitted that information to the bank I financed with who told me they absolutely do not finance lemons, and that the dealer is absolutely responsible for purchasing the car back from me. FACTS OF CASE AND CONDITIONS OF THE LAW: On 5-2-23, Auto Merchants, Inc. issued a check to an employee/Octavio C. for duties/services performed. The employee cashed the check at Lee's Check Cashing, and the check was returned to the check cashing establishment due to insufficient funds, because the check issuer intentionally stopped payment on the check within hours of issuing the check. Subsequently, over the next 150 plus days, the owner of the check cashing establishment contacted Auto Merchants Inc. and/or the receiver of funds in order to compel them to comply with the aforementioned Texas check laws and resolve the grossly past due insufficient funds check. Due to the refusal and/or failure of Auto Merchants, Inc. to comply with Texas check laws, their unpaid check was delegated to the authority of the Loss Prevention Department to facilitate immediate resolution. The owner alleged (without proof) his account was 'hacked," as the justification why he stopped payment on his check. He alleged the employee was given a 3000.00 dollar replacement check and snapped; "you better check our records!" If true, he did so without using basic business common sense, in first verifying the legal holder in due course of his returned check, and if the employee deposited the initial check into his bank account or cashed the check at a check cashing establishment. The employee was interviewed to verify the owner's claim. The employee alleged he was confused and thought the 3000.00 dollars was his, since the check was written in his name. The investigator helped him realize how preposterous his claim was received, so he confessed to intentionally embezzling the 3000.00 dollars in funds that were legally required to resolve the insufficient funds at our check cashing establishment. The owner was informed multiple times in writing and text, if he paid the employee to resolve his insufficient funds check, and he refused and/or failed to resolve the check with the legal holder in due course, his check is legally unpaid, and he is legally required to immediately resolve his check at our check cashing establishment, and he may file embezzlement charges against his employee for the alleged theft of his 3000.00 dollars if he refused and/or failed to return the funds he allegedly stole from him. The owner defiantly and irresponsibly refused and/or failed to comply with Texas check laws, and instead offered to pay 300.00 dollars every two weeks until paid in full, lending to the reasonable speculation the real reason he stopped payment on his check is not because his account was "hacked," but because of poor money management and/or lack of sales revenue due to poor, substandard business practices. At the point the owner's unpaid check was approximately 250 days past due Texas law, he finally made one measly 300.00 dollar payment on 1-24-24, and subsequently four more 300.00 dollar payments on 2-8-24, 3-6-24, 4-3-24, 5-8-24 and abruptly stopped without the consent of the victim, leaving a balance of 1500.00 dollars for over 575 days; in the process ignoring two certified letters, and over 100 text and phone calls to compel him to resolve the balance. read more

Auto Merchants - Proof of insufficient funds check. - Used Car Dealers Near Me - Plano, Texas

This is my second purchase with Auto Merchants. Unfortunately, the "good" vehicle I thought I purchased now has a seized engine. (2021 Hyundai Palisade - bought Dec 16, 2025) Shortly after driving off the lot I began noticing something leaking in my driveway. The oil leak was there from the beginning, and it progressively got worse. You can still see the stains on my driveway until this day. Any basic inspection before putting this vehicle on the lot for sale should have caught this oil leak. Either they knew about it and sold me the car anyway or they failed to properly inspect the vehicle before selling it. Either way that is unacceptable. I contacted the dealership and brought the car back Jan 5, 2026. I left it overnight and they said the leak and some other things that I noticed upon purchase was fixed. Weeks later the car started sputtering and I discovered there was NO OIL in the car. I called the manager and he was no help. He insisted the leak was fixed but clearly it was not because the car had no oil. He then told me the vehicle had about a week left on the warranty and to contact Hyundai. When I contacted Hyundai they confirmed the warranty had already expired when I purchased the car. I added oil thinking perhaps Auto Merchants had not added enough during the service visit. I depend on this vehicle for work and my family. Hyundai would not cover it since there was no warranty. However, the dealership did not even remedy what they failed to fix correctly and just brushed me off to Hyundai. Fast forward to April 20, 2026, the car ran out of oil a third time and the engine seized completely. There is no low oil warning indicator on this vehicle (unless that just never worked either). I have had this car for about four months and am now being told I need a $10,000 engine replacement for an oil leak that came with the car from day one. Either they knew and sold it anyway or their inspection process completely failed me as a customer. This is not just bad business. This is negligence. I hope Auto Merchants makes this right. I have referred several people to Auto Merchants and this was my second vehicle purchase with them. My loyalty to this dealership makes this situation even more disappointing. I am beyond frustrated with how this has been handled and I hope they do the right thing. I also called on April 21st 2026 requesting to speak with the owner, Sid Sharbaf, and was told by a representative named Ray that someone would call me back within a few minutes. The salesman who sold us our Mazda wasn't 'helpful' -- he was running a full-blown magic show. He parked the car in the exact lighting needed to hide the swirl marks in the paint. Not a coincidence. That was intentional misdirection, and I fell for it. But the real insult was the story he fed us about the manufacturer buyback. He told us it was 'just something California does' -- like people get bored and turn cars in for fun. What a joke. It's a lemon title, and he knew it. He straight-up lied by omission and acted proud of it. We didn't learn the truth until multiple dealerships refused to even look at the car because of that title. I purchased a 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF from Auto Merchants Inc. in September 2025. The dealership provided a CARFAX report showing no accidents. On their own dealer disclosure form, they wrote in "PRIOR UNIBODY/FRAME DAMAGE REPAIRED" and then wrote "N/A," next to it indicating no such damage existed. Since it was marked on their own disclosure it appears they were aware of the damage. After bringing the vehicle home, I discovered clear evidence of front-end collision repairs, including paint overspray, missing bolts, disconnected washer fluid lines, and makeshift fender repairs. Upon further investigation, I found that this same vehicle (verified by VIN) had been sold at Insurance Auto Auctions just weeks earlier with visible collision damage. It appears the dealership purchased the vehicle from this salvage auction, repaired it, and resold it to me without disclosing its auction history or prior damage--despite having a specific disclosure line on their own form where they marked "N/A." When confronted with this evidence, the dealership took the vehicle back but did not acknowledge any wrongdoing. The same car has since been relisted on their lot for more than my purchase price and is still being advertised as having no accident history. I'm sharing this to help other buyers avoid the same experience. I've since learned that not all body shops and insurance companies report to CARFAX or similar services so a clean report does not guarantee a clean history. Recommendations for buyers: * Always get an independent pre-purchase inspection * Run both CARFAX and AutoCheck history reports * Search auction databases (IAA, Copart, etc.) for your VIN * Carefully review all disclosure forms line by line * Ask directly whether the vehicle was ever purchased from an auction or repaired Buyer beware!!!! read more

I located a vehicle on Cars.com and called to make arrangements to see it. When I arrived, I didn't realize I had been there a couple of days prior to test drive a different vehicle. When I checked in, I was introduced to a new salesperson, Travis. Travis is friendly, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable. After test driving the car, Travis walked me through the Carfax report item by item explaining what everything meant. Travis did an outstanding job explaining the titling for manufacturer buyback vehicles which helped me understand why the vehicle was returned to the manufacturer and the repair that was needed. Travis was extremely patient and open to all questions I had. The next day when I returned to test drive a different car, it was ready and waiting for me. In the end, I didn't purchase a vehicle. It has been a few years since I bought a car there but after having horrible experience at competitor next door, I want to leave a good review for Auto Merchants. We purchased at least 3 cars over the years from AutoMerchants. All 3 cars I ended up driving for many years. On 2 of them I put over 100k miles and got great value. AutoMerchants do buy sone cars that have been in accidents before but that is disclosed. They are minor accidents that the car has been fixed. On one car when I had an issue weeks after I bought it, and went back thinking they would tell me it wasn't covered as no warranty, Sid took care of it. They took it to dealer and had it fixed, no issue. Another time I was looking for a particular car that I could not find. I told Sid what I wanted what color I wanted and he said he would see if he could find one at auction. Weeks later he called me and told me that he got one, but there was no pressure for me to buy it. I went, and he got me exactly what I was looking for and at great price. Gave me a good price as his overhead cost was low as it did not sit in inventory. I bought that VW and kept that car for years. Like I said it's been a while since I bought from AutoMerchants, but after buying from Auto Of Dallas next-door (and horrible experience) I would go back and buy from AutoMerchants. He had Cristian take care of the test drive. He put a tag on it and let me take it for the test. After that we set down and went over the CarFax. Omar followed up and we discussed my concerns and the price. We settled on the price and then I was given the Purchase Order. This all happened with an email and many text. I was not able to accept the PO and advised I wasn't buying. Omar took this and after a short time called me. We made a deal and I was at ease. I had two more concerns and Omar got them resolved and we setup delivery. He wasn't able to make my time and Cristian took care of the paperwork. Simple and easy except for the name of my town. My experience was terrible. Ray Fuentes acted like he cared and was an honest salesperson. Unfortunately for me I was sold a vehicle that had not passed inspection. I was told the entire brake system had been replaced and had a year warranty. All lies I had to replace the full brake system and 1 of my tires had a screw in it, and 2 tires were down to the wire. 30 days after my purchase. The warranty on my brakes expired the same month they sold me the vehicle. I reached out multiple times asking for help was told it was happening. I asked for the simplest thing as well transferring my customer plates to my new car. Was told several times it was happening to only receive different plates. I saw two cars on Kelley blue book listed at NO ACCIDENTS from these people. Then I pulled the FREE autocheck report that is attached to every listing in the BLUE below the car in Kelley blue book. Guess what? Both were branded as LEMONS and one had a wreck attached. Who would resell cars branded as LEMONS? No thanks! I reported this to Kelley Blue book but they were very hands off, and did not do anything.. Just said that autocheck and these companies can falsely report at times, that mechanics may have put in the wrong information. But for two different cars and both branded as Lemons? And then they asked me if I had reached out to the dealer.. Another NO THANKS! Anyway, please check your car VIN before preceding with any car with a reputable VIN checking company. If I could leave no stars I would. So I recently had my car refinanced and paid off my loan with this place and my new loan place had me call my older dealership to request for my GAP insurance check refund and I don't know much about cars and refinancing stuff so this place has poor communication they didn't tell me the right channels to go through to request for the refund back. It's been 6 weeks and I keep getting told they'll get back to me and they never did. I kept having to call and text to see if any progress was done and they kept telling me "let me check and call you back" this place has very poor communication. Finally today I learned through google that I had to request the check for my refund through my lender or dealership but the dealership was no help so i called my old lender. and before you guys say anything when i say dealership its he finance department of that dealership. FYI if you refinance your car be sure you're requesting for your GAP insurance refund through your old lender. Also make sure you check everything on the vehicle you buy. Because the vehicle I bought from them has problems. When it rains my trunk gets wet inside and my trunk is damaged and I have to slam it really hard to get it to close. I live far so I couldn't just bring the car back and it's my only car for my family. I would NOT do business with these people! 3 days of pure unprofessionalism! I see the high reviews, but they must be old. My wife saw a listing with no pictures. The salesman Ara said he would send pics when it got off the truck. Never happened. We asked if we could come look at it, and made an appointment. We drove 1.5 hours. It took 25 minutes to "find" and pull the car up. We had given them 3 hours to get ready. Ara handed us the keys, asked for a driver's license and went back inside. No walk around, no focus on features, and no ride along. I felt like this would be a great place for people to steal a car due to the lack of customer service, and no attention to details. They quite literally didn't care if we were even there! We sent paperwork to financing, and were told they would call us the next day. No one ever called. When we called to set up an appointment with another salesperson (Raymond), he didn't even bother to show up.!! When I complained to a manager, Tommy, he didn't even apologize or do anything to make it right! When I complained we didn't even get offered a bottle of water, he said "Do you need a bottle of water"? No! The point is you should've asked. After waiting another 20 minutes (remember, I had an appointment)... they finally bring up the car. (Every other dealership in America would've had it washed and waiting). Then Ara comes and confronts my wife about asking for a new sales person.... and it wasn't his fault no one called us back! Keep going. These guys are worthless.
