I listed my car for sale on FB Marketplace, and one of their employees contacted me promising an "aggressive offer." They wouldn't commit to a number upfront (unlike Carvana or CarMax, for example), but assured me it would be "not wholesale." They came out, took pictures, test drove the car, and then offered significantly less than any other dealer I'd talked to. Offered over $10k less than the asking price. I told them they were wasting my time, and they kept "checking with the team" to see if they could improve the offer. Over an hour into the process, they finally left. Afterward, several people from the dealership continued reaching out asking if the original lowball number could work. I eventually had to block their numbers to make it stop. If you're looking to sell your car locally without the hassle, I'd recommend the big-box options or a place like Texas Auto Value (Addison, TX), which offered significantly more than this dealership did. read more

Waste of our time. They 3 in same day!) call, pretending to be a person interested in a car you listed; but in reality, they are scouts for this dealer looking to poach cars cheaply. They claim to be interested at your listed price, then lure you into driving to a small town over 30 minutes away, to their dealership. They seem surprised you are there when you show up at the appointment time, make you wait, then try to hard sell you to take much less than you advertised your car for. Don't respond to these people when they respond to your car listing...they all sound alike, ask quickly for your phone number, sound like they want to buy...beware! This really is a scam. read more

If Maverick Motors contacts you to request to purchase your car .. do not waste your time. They are dishonest and misleading. I had an ad on both CL and FB Marketplace for my Mercedes Benz roadster. A nice guy named Esteban contacted me and said that he was interested in buying it. After providing the VIN and asking many questions, I then learned that he was with a used car dealership called Maverick Motors in Lewisville, TX. He understood what my asking price was, I was very honest and thorough regarding my car's condition and he said that I should bring it in, as this is the type of car they like to buy. I was very clear how much $$ I wanted for it ($11K), and he assured me that if my vehicle was as described, I would get that amount or something very close to it. I said that I am not driving all the way to Lewisville to have them throw a low-ball offer at me. Esteban assured me that this will not happen. I came in on a rainy Saturday morning, after driving 30 minutes from Plano. They were super friendly, I met the owner or manager named Joel, as well as Esteban (the guy I spoke with on the phone) and Garrett (who would do the vehicle evaluation). They test-drove the car, tooks tons of photos, tested the hard-top convertible operation many times to ensure that it worked well, and did a thorough walk-around inspection. They confirmed that the car was great and that they definitely wanted to purchase the car. A this point, I am a 30-minute drive, and a 1-hour wait now into this .. then they bring me to an office where they offer me $6K. At that point I said "Keys Please?" They seemed quite surprised. I said "I need my keys, I'm leaving". They tried talking me out of leaving .. I got pretty angry and demanded my keys. I also said, "And my YELP review on this place is gonna practically write itself". They then brought one of their managers to the office to try to smooth things over. I explained the situation, and he offered to top-off my gas tank as a gesture to not have me leave so angry. I said no, "give me my keys .. I'm leaving". He tried a few times to get me to be "less unhappy" .. but really, it was too late at that point. He told me to wait by the entrance and he'd pull the car around to the front. This gave them time to get Joel (their manager) to come waltzing out to the front to try to make me less unhappy. They tried blaming it on Esteban being so new to their team, and perhaps they can improve their training to prevent "misunderstandings" like this again. Clearly, this appears to be their standard operating procedure, and they are simply dishonest. They had some pretty cool looking cars on their lot, but after today .. I would never, ever do business with them. read more

This company reviews cars for sale on FB Marketplace and will reach out to you expressing interest in buying your vehicle. They will not give you a price over the phone/internet similar to Carvana. As such, they asked if I had room on my asking price and specifically asked me if it was more than a $100-$200. I said I had a couple thousand dollars I could work with and they were eager to come see my car. I told them that if they were going to low ball me to not waste my time. Sure enough, they offered $15,000 less than my asking price. Extremely upsetting and zero lack of respect for my time. I expressed my displeasure with them lying to me and I was then given a sob story about how they are a small mom and pop business, etc etc.. How about an apology instead of avoiding the topic of being dishonest? They then had the audacity to say they would like to build a relationship with me to sell my other vehicles. Zero chance that will happen. Actually the exact opposite will happen. I will be sharing my review of this company in multiple places to help others avoid their game. Reviews, car forums, other dealers websites, etc. No idea how the car buying experience is for their customers but if you are selling a car, block their number. I was a bit hesitant selling to a dealer through the marketplace, but this was a great experience. They came out, examined the car. I wanted more but after looking at other cars online from dealers and private sellers, I decided that it was fair. They came back out, did the paperwork, and the wired money showed up in about two minutes in my account. Excellent experience! After talking with their team over the phone for a few days, the wife and I flew over from Florida to look at a very nice truck on a Saturday. We were picked up at the airport in the vehicle, everything with the truck was as expected and the transaction was flawless! We also moved forward with their Warranty offering from DOWC, which I had never heard of before. Their finance team gave a very good presentation of the coverage, and thankfully that paid for itself on the very next day, as the moonroof came off it's track as we left the dealership. We were unable to get it repaired while we were in TX (it was the weekend), but we took it to our local Ford dealer once we returned home. They serviced the trucking using the warranty with no problems. I had to pay a very small differential due to increased local labor pricing, but paying only $500 on a $5500 bill was ok with me! My $4800 warranty has already paid for itself on day 1! I would fly from Florida to Texas again to purchase from Maverick Motors. read more

I came in to look at one specific vehicle and they had sold it before I came in. They talked me into a different vehicle that was more expensive and had significantly more issues. I even tried to look at different vehicles, but they told me it was too late as they were already running financing. Within a week the engine blew And since it was wholesale, as is, they refused to do anything. When I went into that dealership, I told them that I needed something reliable as I am a single mom and I was giving them my only $3000 to do it. First off I think it's very funny that I have looked at cars all over the country and when you go to a particular car dealers website, they all have over four point stars which that's impossible. On yelp under 3 There's no way they're that perfect someone is padding there stats, this one is not that perfect either they've got a car that's been sitting there for a long period of time. I bought a 1996 Hummer H1 that was advertised online. The first time I tried to get information about the truck, the salesman never returned my calls. After about two weeks, I got in touch with a different salesman and ended up purchasing the truck. I live in Florida, so I trusted the salesman to accurately inform me about the vehicle's condition. He told me it wasn't perfect but was in good, drivable condition. However, when the truck arrived, things were different. At first, it looked good, but after driving it for a few days, I started noticing serious issues. The truck leaks fluids, leaving small puddles wherever I park. After inspecting it more closely, I found that the oil pan is leaking, the oil hose under the manifold is dry-rotted, and the radiator hoses are swollen and leaking. The power steering pump isn't functioning properly. To top it all off, when it rains, I practically need an umbrella inside because water leaks through the headliner! I understand it's a used vehicle, but what kind of inspection does this dealership claim to perform when they don't even replace wiper blades that are visibly falling apart? So far, I've spent about $6,500 + on repairs, and I haven't even been able to enjoy my dream car. Thank you for selling me this headache! I should have known better than to trust people to be honest.
