One of the things I missed most about living in the South was the food. I always forget how much I miss Cajun cooking, especially the crawdad and crab boils. Tasty tasty tasty! The only disappointment was the Fried Oysters, which were small, thin, and thus hard and rubbery. Fried oysters practically require juicy, plump oysters so that they stay soft and gooey, even while being fried on the outside. My wife and I'll be back for sure! read more

I ordered takeout yesterday. Got the combo#1 with 1/2 lb heads-on shrimp, 1/2 lb crawfish, 1/2 lb mussells, corn, potatoes, and sausage. All tossed in medium-spice Cajun sauce. Okay, this place was really good. We can in pretty close to closing time, but they still served us:) The waiter was super friendly and made us feel super comfortable. We all got the #1 and they brought it out pretty quickly! I like how the food was hot and fresh. The mussels were AMAZING and were probably my favorite out of the whole bag. The corn and the shrimp were also super tasty. I couldn't even finish the whole bag and had to take it home, but I felt so full from what I had eaten. Honestly my husband and I were kind of disappointed with this place. :( We love Cajun food and so we decided to have a date night here. We got the crawfish and shrimp in a bag with the potatoes, corn & sausage. The crawfish wasn't very good, sort of dry. The shrimp were okay, nothing special. The best part was probably the seasoning. We also got the fried calamari and that was nothing special at all we didn't even finish ours. The batter was bland. The service was a bit awkward. Our entree came out before our salad & calamari. Everything just wasn't very impressive. Bummed about this being that we live so close to a seafood restaurant! Probably won't return. :( read more

We came to this place about 2 weeks ago it was 3 of us total the place from the inside is really nice! The server that served us was really kind, she was good at her job. The food we ordered the biggest thing you could get cost us about 70 dollars total but the amount of food we got was good for the price of seafood especially. This post is more in reference to service rather than food, however, don't get me wrong the food was PHENOMENAL. Yet, what really stood out to me was the service we received. Our waitress, Nadia, was incredibly attentive, thorough, and efficient. She constantly anticipated any needs we may have had before we had them. She was hard working and respectful. Horrid. One word to describe the setting, the service and the food. We spent over $120 and the food was greasy, tasteless and way over-priced for what we received. Their crawfish boil is oh so delicious. The flavor is killer and the best I've had yet. On the other hand, I also tried their deepfried catfish (swai fish) and it pales in comparison to previous experiences. No kidding though, this is the best in bag boil I've ever had, the flavor is so enveloping and the sausage is mouthwatering and gosh I wish I had more money to come here more often! I was kind of skeptical of this place but REALLY wanted to try it... FINALLY!!! Utah has an amazing seafood scene! This place is amazing! The sausage is so good, the corn, potatoes, sides, and most of all seafood! They legit cook the seafood so perfectly it just falls out of its shell in whole pieces, I chose medium heat and "Kick'n Style" sauce and it's lip smacking goodness! It's garlicy and buttery and good lemon in there. Not to spicy or dull. I can't believe how much they give you too. It makes any price you pay SO FREAKING WORTH IT! I've been waiting for a place like this and it's unbelievably good quality. I just want to give a shout out the the people that serve this quality and customer service and the company as a whole and say thank you for your efforts and bringing this to us!! Honestly this is the worse place for seafood in Utah. Yeah, I get that it's a desert but this place is really bad. I went to the location in Orem and ordered the gumbo. It came in a styrofoam to go container, with a plastic spoon (not something you'd expect from a expensive place). And lacked any resemblance if flavor. I'd be surprised if it had 5 pieces of meet. (the pieces it did have were microscopic). Friend ordered shrimp Po Boy that was absolutely disgusting. Shrimp was fried with SKIN still on it. Would never recommend or come back here. read more

We absolutely loved our dining experience here! Such a fun and different meal but the atmosphere was awesome, the service exceptional and the taste of everything blew us away! We had a large group and split a couple of their combo meals (mild spice, with the Kickin sauce as the flavor) and it was more than enough food for the 7 of us (we did get a few salads and some Cajun fries as well). Don't wear super nice clothes because you most likely get messy--even wearing gloves and bibs! But that was our favorite part of the experience! We will definitely be back soon and will definitely be recommending this to everyone we know! read more

I would definitely recommend this place. For the price and being in Utah. The pricing is reasonable, the amount you get is great as well. My only problem is the choice of sausage, maybe it's just me but it tasted like a franks wiener. It definitely wasn't, instead it was a polish sausage but it made all the seafood in the bag taste that way. I chose lemon pepper for the flavor and medium spice great(spice level for medium was cholula level and this was the first time going to Kickin Seafood). Maybe it was the day and time, which was a thursday afternoon. As well the shrimp could be cooked a little longer, I understand it could be all cooked at once but it was difficult to remove the shell. In conclusion yes i'd recommend, just know your food may taste a little Frank wienery and you may have some shell bits on you shrimp. Costco sausages or Andouille sausage could get the place ballin, something with a little bit more flavor. ADD FLAVOR PLEASE!!! read more

The server was really nice and attentive, but unfortunately that's where the good stops. I have 2 stars because she was great. I ordered the shrimp boil bag without the head. The shrimp are. It cleaned so the vein is still in them. These are large shrimp so the vein is prominent and leaves the shrimp tasting like gritty dirt. It was terrible. I requested some shrimp cocktail sauce in an attempt to cover up the gross flavor of eating shrimp poop, but it was inedible. It was potent, primarily comprised of vinegar and horseradish. It made my nose and throat burn and not in a yummy spicy food kind of way. More like a drank a bottle of vinegar way. My husband had the shrimp sandwich and said it was good. I'm far from a Karen, but what happened next is really why I'm posting this review. I told my sweet waitress that the cocktail sauce was inedible (believe me I had my husband tried it who is not picky at all, and even he gagged) and that the shrimp weren't cleaned and weren't good. She went and spoke with her manager who she said was going to come over. Well he never did, but instead sent the poor girl back to tell me that he wasn't going to do anything and it was too bad, that's just how it is. I told her I wasn't going to pay for it, since she had already taken my plate back to the kitchen, and she said her boss told her I had to. I asked her to send her boss over to talk to me, which I could see her requesting from across the restaurant, but he was just yelling at her. He told her that I needed to go over to him (on the other side of the restaurant where there were no people so he could more than likely tell me to stick it), I refused and told her he was welcome to walk over to our table, but that I was not paying. I felt bad for her and made sure I was discreet so no one around knew what was going on. I was appalled by this manager (probably the owner) arguing with me via his staff because he was a coward and didn't want to do it himself. She needed up not charging me for my food, and I tipped her 20% of what the bill would have been with my food plus some, to show my appreciation to her in a difficult situation. I wouldn't recommend this place based on management. I also found it really strange that their we're dishes like lo Mein and pot stickers at a Cajun seafood restaurant. I think there's a bit of an identity crisis happening with what type of restaurant it is supposed to be. read more

Delicious Cajun boil. I opted for the 3 person shrimp, crawdads, clams. Also opted for the kicking Cajun sauce on the side and controlled my dipping vs saturating the whole boil. Very generous servings for 40$ Huge shrimp, generous clams ( smaller kind ) generous crawdads And of course potatoes , corn on the cob , and savory sausage. The kicking Cajun sauce was truly unique and very full of flavor ( opted for mild on heat) Don't miss it. Lastly started dinner with Fried Calamari appetizer . One order fed four. Great batter and it is slightly battered with small slices of jalapeños. Very tame on the heat level but again equal to the best calamari I have had world wide.
