Took my son at 16months and he did not shed a tear. He also received a first hair cut certificate and I was handed little baggie with his hair. Hair stylist wore a mask the entire time, worked with us on what we needed and what she thought would be best for first timers, also asked my first if he could have a loliipop at the end vs just giving it to him. 10/10 recommend this place! They are cute fun little cars, there are TV's with cartoons and a lot of fun character art to make the shop a little fun for kids. I typically walk in, but you can make an appointment for busy days - weekends are really busy. My 2yr old son didn't cry and loved Mr Jonathan! He still says go see Mr Jonathan, drive the car? It's been two months since his last cut. Mr Jonathan used scissors and two set of clippers. Previously to Mr Jonathan doing his cuts at another establishment my son cried and goldfish, paci, and Mrs Rachel couldn't stop him. When he didn't start crying after three mins with Mr Jonathan, our jaws were on the floor. Then when he didn't cry at all we were in shock. Mr Jonathan has a great demeanor and lots of patience. It's a good set up with all of the mirrors and a TV close by so the kid can see what's going on. We will be returning soon. We went here on a Friday evening without appointment. The staff were accommodating and friendly. This was first haircut so my kid started crying, but the staff assured us by saying its ok and cut the hair with a smile on face. It was a busy Friday evening close to their closing time, but they made sure everyone was taken care of. Car seat and bluey on tv is very helpful. This review is specific to Felicia. I can't speak for any of the other stylists but all the kids who left looked great and it was clear that the other stylist was listening to the parents. Felicia asked if I wanted a standard cut and went in with clippers. I said it was fine if the back was short but I wanted to keep the front longer. Had to stopped there I would've been fine but she just kept cutting and trimming and saying that it would look fine after she went in with the comb scissors. I had to bring my husband in because she wouldn't listen to me and kept cutting. Eventually we ended up with a much much much much shorter cut than I wanted and thank god it's just hair and it grows out but seriously wtf. I've been taking my 2 year old daughter to Kids Cuts for about six months now. I came because whenever I tried to cut my daughter's hair she'd move her head quickly, to the point I was worried I'd hurt her. The stylists here are very patient and worked with her to help her feel comfortable. We mostly saw Felisa, who was wonderful at working at my daughter's pace. She used distractions and positive reinforcement to trim her hair instead of doing anything forceful. We did sometimes leave with her hair a little crooked, but it was because my daughter had reached her limit. On our last visit, it all paid off! My daughter was calm and sat still while Felisa cut her hair. She left with a really cute haircut. I appreciate the extra care Felisa took. read more

We were planning on going here for our child's first haircut. But the salon forced us to sign up for an online account just to make a reservation. That's annoying in itself. But then we tried to make a reservation, and we saw that only one parent is allowed to be at the haircut, and everybody has to wear masks the entire time because of "safety." I took my 2 older kids for a haircut a week ago and they both looked great afterwards but today i brought my non verbal 7 year old autistic boy with sensory issues and Jonathan exceeded our expectations on so many different levels! The kids' chairs are fun (my daughter was in a "car"), they have TVs with cartoons running (my daughter asked to face away from them), and Maria Elena did a good job cutting my child's hair. It seems to be hard to search for a place that offers kid's haircut close to our neighborhood. I finally decided to take my toddler son to this place since they specialize in kid's haircut and have some good reviews. I was totally disappointed by both the service and haircut quality! I made an appointment. When it's our appointment time, the person who was supposed to do the haircut asked us to wait when he kept talking on his cell phone for a good 15-10 minutes, which is very unprofessional! And as the haircut goes, my conclusion is I can do a better job only if my son can sit there still for me, but obviously kids behave differently in front of their parents than outsiders. He asked us if we want to keep it longer or cut it short. I told him not short (because my son has cute curly hair). Provided the instruction, he cut my son's hair really short. I am not sure what it would be if I said short. And the hair cut was uneven at places, and the side was kept longer than the rest. I had to do quite a bit trimming myself after we got home. Just a side note, while we were waiting, there was a little girl getting her cut close to where we were waiting. And the mom had to point out to the woman who did the haircut that there was a strand of hair got completely missed, it was much longer than the rest. I cannot believe it! it didn't get a one star only because he did show some patience with my son for the occasional lack of cooperation. But I will never go back to this place again! read more

The customer service definitely needs beyond improvement. Last time I went with my son to get his haircut . I went without an appointment. I asked the owner (the only guy that seems to work there ) if I could get a haircut he said yes . I waited for an hour with my one year old . Then another parent and child showed up a hour after us and asked the same thing . The guy said yes attended them immediately saying because they are customers. Poor and rude service... in a rough patch of the neighborhood, parking is scant and inconvenient. The haircuts itself are pretty average and they act like they care if the kids are fussy but they try to rush you .The place itself is small and dingy and the service awful .. ya its a cheap establishment at $25 per cut so its ok to go if there are no options and cant cut hair yourself. Parents of little kids deserve better , please find another place that cares for you and your kids read more

Went there a second time to give it a second try since the first time was average. It was a late appointment on a Wednesday. However, when we reached there, the person started to ask for masks. Nowhere on the site or in appointment did it say that a mask was mandatory (maybe in small letters somewhere). They also did not have any in the shop so the person asked me to run to Safeway and get masks for everyone (which btw did not have any masks either). Does not look like a high quality establishment where customers are treated better and the quality of service is higher. I guess you get what you pay for. read more

I am disappointed and confused. On Monday, I booked an appointment using their online appointment scheduling for that coming Wednesday for my preschooler. I got him excited for it since he has been scared in the past. But when I arrived for the appointment, the salon was closed and locked with no one there. I feel bad saying this, but the woman who cut my daughter's hair is clearly not trained to do this (although I want to support her because she is probably trying to make a career out of this, but I do wonder if she was just a receptionist "winging it"). It took a while for her to understand what I was asking for, and she kept asking questions which sounded more like her being insecure and unsure of how to cut hair in the first place. In fact the owner had to keep coming over to give pretty simple directions. I had asked to cut the full ponytail off so I could donate it, but the lady was so confused about how to make that happen, I told her to forget it (clearly she could've made a few small ponytails and cut them individually, if she was worried about the hair being different lengths after one big ponytail chop). I asked for shoulder-length hair (my daughter wanted a dramatic change) but the hairdresser barely cut the ends off. When I asked her to make it shorter, she said I would have to pay double for that! (The nerve!) That made no sense, it was a very simple straight haircut, nothing fancy. And she said it looked better that way anyway (that's for us to decide!). The hairdresser suggested they cut my hair too, because I'm still young and should put myself together more, which I know was supposed to be friendly salon chatter but I found insulting. When we were done and ready to pay, the owner of the salon noticed it wasn't straight, so the woman started cutting my daughter's hair again -- while my daughter was still standing up! The owner even had to tell her to use a comb when she cut it, instead of eyeballing it. I regret paying even the small tip. I won't be going here again, and the inside might be under construction or something, but it doesn't look nearly as nice as the photos online. We were very excited about this, but I'll probably be cutting my daughter's hair at home to fix it. I do wish the lady hairdresser good luck, but the owner shouldn't put her alone with customers until she's ready! read more

I wanted to like this place.. but the experience and the way they cut hair here was terrible. $25 and my 2.5yo has an uneven, choppy haircut. The lady cutting was very slow, couldn't find her tools, was sanitizing the combs in the middle of the haircut with hand sanitizer. Her technique was very sloppy. The brush they use to brush off hair from the skin was very low quality and rough, my son was eating a lollipop and twice she got hair on it. The lady just didn't know what she was doing. I tried to tell her to just stop and even out the front hair so we could leave, and she didn't want to stop. PLEASE don't go here. This place should not be a place for kids to get there haircuts. This should not be a kids haircut place. They do not know how to cut, let alone cut children's hair. She blames me bc I don't take him to haircuts enough and he moves and cries.
