Super dissapointed with them. I have used their eye cream for years and love it. I recently bought a jar at a Sephora near me and one at a Kiehl's store (Costa Mesa)that is about an hour away from me. (I did not realize I had ordered the one from Sephora and ended up with 2) Anyway, I opened the one from the Kiehl's store to use, and it was SO GROSS. The smell was horrible and the cream felt off. The color was gross too. Very yellow. Since I live over an hour away from this store, I emailed Kiehl's to ask if there was anything I could do. They told me to send photos of proof of purchase, the lot number and the product, which I did. Then crickets. I have not heard a word from them in almost a week and have reached back out. Kiehls is my go-to for my beauty needs. Love their moisturizers and night oils. I usually shop online but this time came in to turn in empty containers for their recycling program. You get points per tub returned that go onto your account for future purchases. We were assisted by a lovely staff member who was courteous and patient. He answered all our questions and did not try to push products on us. I tried a whole bunch of new to me moisturizers and made a note of which ones I'd buy during the Black Friday Sales! Great customer service! Rudy went above and beyond to help me with my dry hands. I had some tiny cuts because of over working my hands with soil and dirt....plant lady over here lol. Rudy immediately took excellent care of me with a hand massage. He's really nice and so knowledgeable about different lotions. I'll definitely be stopping by more often when I'm in the area. I love Kiehl's products and always order their products online, but I decided to stop by their shop in person while walking around South Coast Plaza. The employees were very attentive and friendly as soon as I walked in. They helped me find what I was looking for very quick. However, I did feel like they were pushing me to buy other products and packages that includes the products I came to buy. They kept recommending other bundles to save on money but I assured them that I was only here for one thing. I understand upselling is part of their job but it was getting a bit much and I simply wanted to browse the rest of their store on my own. Despite the excessive recommendations, I would still continue using their products although would probably refrain from going to another store in person. It actually was their reopening weekend at this location and I was able to spin a prize wheel and receive some free samples so that made the experience better. read more

After years of using trying many high end skincare lines (Epicuren, Dermalogica, Obagi, etc) I have settled on Kiehls as the most bang for the buck, with great results and excellent customer service. My husband and I now both use products including facial moisturizer, body lotion, cleansers, skin oil, eye cream, masks and shaving cream. Many of these products we first tried as samples given out in the store. After a few you will build up points that can be redeemed for a discount. We also earn discounts by recycling all our containers in store and bringing our own bag. This is in addition to whichever in store promotions they are running. The staff at South Coast are all enthusiastic about helping you learn about the products and diagnosing the issue with your skin, but I have never found anyone to be overly pushy. They know the products speak for themselves, they give you samples and trial sizes (great for travel) with the confidence that once you try you will be hooked (Looking at you Midnight Recovery Oil!) read more

I've been coming to this location for years now and just recently got a few skin barrier checks. Everyone that works there is always so helpful and kind, and have given me so much knowledge on how to take care of my skin. Yesterday (12/20/22) I went in to get an update on my skin barrier and Melissa was the sweetest lady, she spent so much time dedicated to answering all my questions and teaching me just about everything I need to know! This place has the worst customer service when you call them. I called with questions regarding rewards and Victoria the rep I talked to wasn't able answer my questions had me on phone for over 20min would not transfer call to supervisor at one point questioned reason why I was asking for her name and for a supervisor. I happened call back and talked to a Kim and same scenario, seems like this is their protocol when you call. All their supervisors are all too busy come to the phone. These kiehls products, specifically facial fuel for men, and the "ultimate" moisturizer cream were terribly irritating to my face causing cystic acne when I've never had that before! The worst part is when I returned the products 4 days after I purchased to the kiehls south coast store, since I bought online, and was told "I can give you a store credit"?? That was an idiotic suggestion as I stood before the salesperson with giant pimples all over my cheeks. That was 11/6 & I was told that I would have my refund in 3-5 days. Its now 12/20. I just say OMG to Kiehl's. We are royal member of Kiehl and on their mailing list. I went there located on SouthCoast Mall with Kiehl's mailing coupon which allows me to get free a 5.0 fl.oz Ultra Facial Cleaner with a purchase over $50. I picked one of $82.00 Super Multi Correction Ceam. A Chinese lady asked me to wait while she searches my info on their system. In fact, my info was on the mailing coupon. I waited about 10min. She asked me all over again, e-mail, address, phone number.... She said she found it finally. And then she told me to wait again because she need to ask her manager about a free stuff even though it is ON their mailing coupon. She called a manager in the back. But I guess the manager was doing something imfortant than this matter.. she called a manager, but did not respond. Just got a phone number. And she called that number. But not answered. And about after 15 min later, she said, I need to come back cause no one is answered call. I asked her, why do I get this mailed coupon if it is not useable? Her answer: I don't know that. I am so happy there is a kiehl's store in OC. I come here regularly to buy product as well as recycle my old bottles. I love their recycling program because you earn points for discounts. Every time I come into the store I am always greeted by friendly faces and everyone is so welcoming and helpful. I called recently regarding a body wash that has been sold out online and in stores. I spoke to the manager (didn't catch her name) but advised that she will call me back to let me know if they are expecting a shipment in the next week. Rudy called me back and was so helpful!! He advised that it's not expecting to be in the store but he was able to locate 3 bottles at their Manhattan beach location and that he already called the store to place them on hold for me. He gave me the phone and I was able to place a phone order!! I cannot thank this team for their hard work, patience and customer service!! What a horrible experience I had today. The gal who helped me (Number 283968, KCR Ting Chi) was rude disrespectful and should not be working with customers. Im a long time fan of Kiehl's and been shopping here for years. I know my products so when I went in to the store, I asked for the product I wanted. She showed me the wrong one and when I said that not it, she became annoyed. When it was time to check out she couldn't find my account using my name so I asked if she could look it up by my email. My email is very easy but apparently not to her. I had to spell it out very slowly for her. She didn't bother to ask if I wanted any sample packages, I had to ask her for it. When I did, she was even more annoyed and looked at my with her smudged face and said what do want. She found the one I wanted and threw one in my bag. Now I know you usually get 3 so I asked for another one. She looked me with sleepy eyes, with her annoyed voice and said "how many more do you want"? I said just two more. She threw two more in my bag then grabbed my receipt and Crumbled it and threw that too in my bag. It's a Sunday and Mother's Day so it was really busy. Don't care what her problem is but she shouldn't be working with customers if she's got stinky rotten bitchy attitude. I asked to talk to a manager but no one was working at the time. I get really bad eczema and I've read so many reviews raving about Kiehl's creme de corps lotion. The worker that talked to me about the various was very knowledgeable and nice. Not at all pushy so that I can appreciate. He told me that the creme de corps lotion was formulated for burn victims of World War II or something like that. With that fact I thought hey, why not? If it can work for them, it can definitely work for my crappy skin. Soo I dropped the ~$50 for a regular sized bottle of yellow lotion. Unfortunately it didn't do anything for my skin. It moisturized nicely, but it didn't do anything to alleviate my eczema. So bummed. I'm not a big fan of their scented lip balms either. I bought the trio and after awhile, the smell got a little funky and was cloying. read more

Update: We bathed Emma today with her new Kiehl's products. Her coat came out very soft! She's already pretty soft to begin with but the conditioner really softened it up even more. Even the fluffy white undercoat on her behind (that's usually somewhat coarse) is smooshy and marshmallow-y. The smell of lavender lingered in her fur without fading but wasn't too strong either. My boyfriend was actually the main bather and he had no problem juggling the bottles and they dispensed well. Now she's extra squishable! ______________________________________________________ Emma and I shopped to the point of exhaustion today at SCP. Weighed down by loads of bags from all over the mall, we stopped by Kiehl's to check out the doggie shampoo and conditioner. I've smelled it and read about them before, but I was finally ready to commit to them. The ladies offered me a seat, which I glady took. The shampoo and conditioner are lightly scented with chamomile and other emollients, much like the rest of Kiehl's products, and packed into cute but not fussy bottles. This is important because who wants to juggle flimsy, slippery bottles when you're bathing a dog? The bottles are twice as large as Juicy Couture's (I think) and are priced at $16, which is cheaper than JC's. We didn't get the spritz because we had already gotten the JC spritz at Saks the other day. I thought that the smell of the Kiehl's spritz may be too emollient-y for every day use. Anyway, the staff here are super nice. They don't ambush you and try to sell you a billion different items. They were also making a huge fuss over Emma and offered her dog cookies, which won her over. The ladies were so taken by her that they pulled out their staff in the back room to look at her. They also have a ton of samples, not that I'm one of the those sample whores who loves free giveaways even if I have no use for it. I did, however, request some of the super moisturizing shave cream for my boyfriend, which hopefully he'll try tomorrow. They aren't cheap with the samples either, so he'll at least get to use more than one application. Unlike other people I've seen, we really would buy the product if it worked out well. I used to work in cosmetics and I HATED those people who wanted, literally, samples of anything, whether it was their color/skin type or not. Just because it's free doesn't mean you need it. The reason to my 5 stars is Nina. This is my 4th visit at this location (1st for my husband, 2nd for myself, 3rd for me and then the hubby decided to join too). I came in because I was super unhappy about the products I was sold and used on my face, it made my whole face breakout! Nina listened to my concerns, saw the negative impact of be products and scheduled me for a treatment the next day and gave my husband a treatment too. She took her time, was understanding, full of positive energy, EXTREMELY knowledgeable, and just an amazing individual. She told me and my husband which products we can both use and which ones we shouldn't share. She educated us, which I really appreciated. If you go to this store, make a request to have her help you, I PROMISE you won't regret it! read more

I have been pretty loyal to using Estee Lauder products for years, but after my skin lately has taken a turn for the worst I'm seeking out other options. The reason I went to Kiehl's is this - SAMPLES!! I went in asking about cleansers and moisturizers a couple of weeks ago when I bought some Tea Tree Oil toner. The SA suggested some products (I had come in well-researched so I already knew what I wanted) then she gave me enough Blue Herbal Cleanser to last me several weeks, as well as a week's worth of the Brightening Botanical Moisture Fluid. After both these products worked out, I went back today to buy them, and started looking at sunscreen. I walked out with 3 samples that will easily be at least a week's worth each. And these weren't little packets either, she squeezed a heap of stuff into a pot for me. The SAs are helpful, even today when there were only 2 on staff and 6 customers who needed help the girl was nice enough to answer a few questions and get me the samples. Other times I've been there, with less people, they've been really helpful but also backed off when you needed space. (Unlike some counters or stores where you cannot even glance their way without them jumping on you...). So Kiehl's has been my best friend in trying out new products. You don't even have to be shy about asking for samples, they WANT you to try it out before buying. (I think its company policy to offer samples w/purchases, I did a customer service survey online and it asked if you were offered samples, a great policy more places should use). The products may not work for everyone, but there's really no risk as you can try out everything before you buy it! Also, the prices aren't that bad, about the same as most department store lines. Also, you get pretty good quantities, most of the stuff I've gotten is almost twice the size of the Estee Lauder stuff I use for the same price. I completely converted my entire life ever since i started using Kiehl's products! It all started with the exfoliating daily face wash that was recommended for me by a worker named Nina. She told me to just try out some of their products and if I didn't enjoy any of them, to bring them back. But there was no need for me to return any of the products... they all ended up working on me! After two weeks or so, my skin has completely transformed. My dark spots are mostly gone, my skin tone has evened out, and all my confidence has returned. If it wasn't for the knowledgable staff actually knowing and understanding whats in the product, and then being able to recommend a whole spectrum of products for any skin type at any price point. I freaking love kiehls products. love em, love em, love em. Two products of theirs that I cannot live without is their facial moisturizer. The facial fuel is amazing, super light and always leaves my face refreshed without shine. This is great especially since I have an oily T zone. The other product I love is their lightweight spf moisturizer. Most sunblocks leave you so damn oily, but not this one, plus it comes with mexoryl xl. This is the best stuff you can use as far as sunblock goes. Their staff is super friendly, knowledgeable and non-pushy which are big pluses in my book. They are always more than happy to tell you about new products, and are willing to take the time to help you out. read more

I've been going to Kiehl's for about oh, 1.5-2 years now, occasionally refilling my stock on their superb skin-care products and each visit is as good as the previous, if not better. You'll generally hear about Kiehl's through magazines or word-of-mouth, but I personally assure you, their products deliver on their customers' testaments. The service at this particular location is top-notch. The salespeople will make sure you leave with whatever it is that you need for your particular preference, and better yet, that you leave with a better understanding of the products and their benefits and effects on you. They aren't ditzy employees who'll just try to throw a bunch of things your way and have you wondering, "Did I really need all this stuff?" Indeed, I agree the price is a tad bit high, but in this case, you really do get what you pay for. I personally use their Facial Fuel line (Energizing Face Wash, Energizing Scrub, and the Energizing Moisturizer) and their Overnight Biological Peel, and they all work great for me. I just got home feeling so fine with my face, and I am sure Emma feels the same way. This was the best makeover Emma and I have ever had plus the no-pressure to buy attitude was very refreshing. I've been going here consistently for the past three years. It does make a huge difference when you use skin care products with quality ingredients. I used to use whatever lotion I had lying around or even that smelly stuff from bath and body works that was lying around the house... but after using their creme de corps, I can totally tell the difference between okay and great products. For me, I like the ultimate man body scrub soap bar with oatmeal... i don't think i could use any other soap bar because it scrubs well without drying out your skin. And the lip balm works super well too. I used to use burts bees, but after a while it lost its effect. oh, and the customer service is really good. They're all very knowledgeable about each product and if you're not sure about something, they're not pushy - they just give you a sample to take home and see if it works for you. nice. read more

I can't believe I'm writing a review for a place that sells lotions and potions, but I love their stuff! Next to Jack Black they have the best shaving cream and their Mango Body wash smells good enough to eat. I also recently got addicted to their Mango Lip Balm #1. Lastly, I workout at Equinox who now have Kiehls products in their locker rooms! The Grapefruit body wash is refreshing and doesn't dry out my skin. I also sometimes use their Creme de Corps that the gym also provides. The staff at the store in SC Plaza are very friendly and helpful. Absolutely awful customer service at this store. I've had the EXACT same experience with the same employee the past two times I've visited. The past two times I've come here, there is one employee, a tall, Chinese woman who basically ignores all other customers except for the ones that are right in front of her, and she will just stand there staring at the customers she is helping, even if they aren't talking to her. Both times there was just me and one other set of customers in the store. She just stands there and stares while they talk to each other and can't/won't check anyone else out at the register to pay or acknowledge anyone else in the store. She noticed me standing by the register and I motion that I need to pay and she goes in the back to see if there's any other employees around and there aren't so she goes right back to the customers she was helping and continues silently standing next to them as they talk to each other. She just expects you to stand at the register and wait until their conversation is done and never mind that nobody knows how long that will take. She lacks the BASIC customer service skills to excuse herself from the conversation and say that she needs to check out someone at the register and she will be back. This is not an uncommon practice at other retail stores, but not so at Kiehls! Today, I left my product at the counter and walked out while she's still standing there blankly staring at the customers. I guess this store doesn't need paying, repeat customers to keep its doors open. The previous time I came where I FINALLY got her to check me out at the register, she just gave me the total for my purchase. Didn't ask for my rewards email, didn't understand what I was even talking about when I said I wanted to give her my email so I could get points for this purchase (she just kept saying "no rewards" in an annoyed, thick Chinese accent) and offered no samples. After arguing with her about it, she finally understood what I meant, and it took her FOREVER to input my email address and look me up in their system because her English skills were so lacking. I went to the South coast Plaza location to return a product that my wife had purchased for me. Since I didn't have a receipt, I planned to exchange it for the Midnight Recovery Concentrate that I was nearly out of. I received a friendly greeting from Valerie and was offered a skin test (dry vs oily) and skin hydration level test. Valerie gave me some skin care recommendations and provided intelligent conversation that left me feeling impressed with her customer service skills and appreciated as a customer. I really like Kiehl's hair products and colored lip balms. I use the Amino Acid Shampoo and Conditioner for my fine, curly hair and it doesn't weigh it down too much and it detangles my hair at the same time. Customer service is hit and miss. One lady that helped me gave me great full sized samples while others are very stingy given the amount of money you're spending when you shop here. 5 stars for the products, 3 stars for the price. But the Kiehl's Cash rewards does help if you sign up. read more
