7/3/25 - My friend and I went to try the free skin analysis and Thyre or Thyres (I think that's how it's spelled) helped walk us through where our skin concerns were and the best products for those concerns. The skin analysis was cool and happens every Thursday! I will say some of their products were kind of expensive for so little product too, but other than that the experience was cool and the employees were nice. We also did a treatment mask and she helped me choose products. There was this clay mask that helped reduce my pores and other products to help my skin be more hydrated. I have been using Kiehl's for almost 10 years and I avoid coming to this store if I can. It's convenient for me to stop by because it's in the mall and I can just quickly grab things I need. Store workers are vultures. If you buy a lot of stuff and spend quite a bit of time there, they follow and still try to up sell. If you don't purchase a lot, they will make you feel like you are not welcomed. They don't honor their sample offer either - they don't offer you if you don't ask. Even if you ask, they don't provide all three. The only times I had very pleasant experiences were when Victoria (store manager) was here (I hope I didn't remember her name wrong). I don't think she is here anymore. Just buy anything online. You don't have to deal with the bad feelings afterwards . read more

This review is for Jennifer A!!! Immediately upon entering the store, I was greeted by her. I expressed to her my skin problems and she immediately knew where to direct me. I ended up going with the Calendula skincare line and within the first use, my skin was baby butt smooth! I love that Jennifer allowed me to take some samples home. I am the type of person who is skeptical about venturing out and trying new products due to the possibility of coming back and having to ensure I made my return within the given refund period... so I really appreciate her generosity of including all these different samples. Kiehl's has been my choice of skin care line for many years now. Every time I walk into Kiehl's, there is always a skin care specialist ready to greet me and ask me about my skin, or if there is a specific product they can help me with. Their customer service is always on point, and their products have always impressed me. I am very satisfied with their product. This last time around, my boyfriend got a "oil test" to determine how oily his skin was. From there, the specialist suggested a line of products that would work best with his skin. I couldn't believe it! We had gone to the store many times, and this skin test had never been done. But now we know! :) Also, we were checking out, and then the specialist shared with us that one of the items we got a Blue Herbal Spot Treatment was more for adolescents and teens, rather than adults, and they just launched an item for adult skin, so we went with that option instead. Specialists who help make product choice better with greater knowledge is definitely a plus in my book. He didn't seem like he was just trying to make a sale either. He was just knowledgeable and clearly passionate about skin care and the product line. That is a win for me. If you are curious about Kiehl's, I would go ahead and check it out at Valley Fair. My first time experience using Kiehl products kind working well on my face. I bought their calendula toner, ult facial oil free gel, hyd plump retro serum, calendula foaming wash. They are all under affordable price range. Of course different people has different skin type. The kiehl staffs are helpful and willing to introduce the line product after they have skin test on my face. I had Gio to help out on me. She's a nice person, and she gave me some samples to try out. Holiday shopping + Valley Fair = Retail Rage. You know what it feels like. Walking through one of the most chaotic shopping malls in the entire bay area, carrying 5 shopping bags in each hand, trying to get around the 10,000 other people doing the same thing, squeezing inside packed shops and grabbing at whatever is left in the size you need. It's exhausting, and it makes people a hundred times more irritable. Enter Kiehl's. It's a shopper's sanctuary. Although a relatively small store, it's not crowded with people, there's more than enough things to buy there that would make everyone on your shopping list happy, and best of all, the sales associates are pleasant and helpful. They take the time to help you select luxurious skin and hair products and are happy to provide samples galore. You really have to give them kudos for putting up with the madness and keeping it outside their store. I personally love using their scented body lotions, hand salve and lip balm. Leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth and not greasy at all. Ahh... soooo nice. After selecting what I need and lathering myself up in creams, my retail rage has subsided and I'm ready to face the crowds again. Thanks Kiehl's, for being a haven even for a few minutes. read more

Of all the Kiehl's stores I've been to, this is one of the best. The first lady I worked with was really great. I went in to purchase my go-to items and explore other products. She listened to my needs and concerns and gave me awesome recommendations that are now my staples. In addition, they offered many samples. I've worked with some other staff members who were also very helpful. I'd give them 5 stars, but I'm taking one off because of an incident that I had. I was pulled aside and completely searched at TSA. After searching and swabbing EVERYTHING, they finally got to my clarisonic and said there was residue on it that was causing their scanner to flag my bags. I've been taking my clarisonic on flights for years without any issues. The only thing different was that I started using the calendula face wash. I noticed that it contains glycerin, which has caused other passengers to get flagged by TSA. When I took the face wash back, the cashier was a bit rude about the reason why I was taking it back. read more

Khiel's has a lovely approach to cosmetics--simple and seemingly pharmaceutical. I like the effectiveness of their products as well as their product design. Their Ultra Facial Moisturizer is a must for the wintertime. The unfortunate thing is that this store seems to have a high employee turnover rate, with presently untrained and neglectful staff. My favorite staffmember is no longer to be found (Zan, with pink hair). I'm also a bit displeased to discover that Kiehl's is owned by L'Oreal. read more

I don't shop at Kiehl's...but the bf does. Staff here is extremely friendly and eagerly helpful. I like the counter and sink in the back where you can sample their lip glosses. It's actually not messy and gross like a Bath & Body Works or Sephora lip station. Shop is teeny tiny but never crowded which is a B+ in my book. Everytime you buy something the sales associate always asked if you want free samples of some of their new ish or even some of their popular ish. Anything free is an A+ in my book! read more

Came here for the first time with my mom recently. I got her into Kiehl's products a few months ago (although tbh I haven't used a ton of their products), so we came by to restock on some items she enjoyed. The employees here are pretty helpful. They didn't look super bright, perky and thrilled to be there, but we also came a few days after Black Friday, so they were probably tired. However, they were still very attentive and several people came up to my mom and asked if we needed any help. They were great at helping us find products that would take care of concerns we were dealing with. The store was very neat and organized, and easy to peruse for the most part. They had a deal going on where if you spent more than $60 (I think), you could get $20 off your total purchase, so my mom and I split the transaction so we could get a total of $40 off. This place was great because the lady helping us out made sure we left with the right products. She was also awesome because she REALLY believed in their products and I can tell in her voice and eyes that she wasn't lying to us. She made us try several options for moisturizers and toners until we found the right product. This store is also clean, organized, and just seems inviting. I absolutely love this store. The products I have tried for men are unbelievably amazing. I especially love the overnight biological peel that the woman helped me select; I wake up and feel so refreshed. That's the other thing about this location, the staff was great! I can't remember the woman's name for the life of me, but I'm going to upload her picture. She's the woman with hot pink hair. She helped me select a lot of things to try out--I literally walked out of there with about 15 samples in my pocket--most of which have seemed to be really good thus far. There's something appealing about the simple, minimalist Kiehl's packaging. Their products aren't too girly or heavily fragranced. They've been around since 1851 (I have to remember to visit their original store the next time I'm in NYC) and the current offerings include skin care, shampoo, hair care, fragrance, lip balm, suncare, bath products for men and women. I first learned about them in my beauty magazines where Crème with Silk Groom and Lip Balm #1 have long been beauty editor favorites. And Kiehl's is still mentioned often in books and TV shows (remember when Marissa gave Ryan some Kiehl's cucumber products on the OC Season 1)?) I didn't think their products ever went on sale but they were having a 20% off sale on everything but the gift sets. The store had plenty of testers. I haven't been in one for awhile and Lip Balm #1 now comes in scented varieties like vanilla, pear, mango, etc. and tinted varieties too. The newest offering is the 100% natural acai skin care line. They used to be generous with samples but this time I didn't get any at all. I guess you have to ask? Their website says that they offer free shipping and three free samples. I'm one of those lucky people....I've never had a pimple ever! BUT I have the opposite problem. I have extremely sensitive skin that breaks-out with just about anything and skin so dry that its painful especially when its cold out. I'm tired of using products for my skin that don't work!!! I'm (almost) in my mid 30s now...I can't be messin' around on my skin. I need to be good to it! So this is where Kiehl's takes over my life. I had read some pretty stellar reviews from friends whom I trust their opinions on (Hi Flor and SueAnn!) and after some convincing from Sue Ann (I'm easy like her ;) ) I checked this store out. I walked in and went WHOA whats up with the white lab coats?! This place is very neat and orderly and organized by your needs depending on if you need something for oily skin, normal skin, dry skin, baby, men, sun protection, etc. I was kindly greeted by a woman who helped me find the right products with the issues I was addressing with her. She didn't try to up-sell me any other products that I wouldn't need...in fact she GAVE ME a product worth $32. WOW! There was some sort of promotion that had happened recently but because I was buying one of the products she suggested, I got the eye creme for free! Yippppppee! Products here are more then your average moisturizers but their quality is worth it plus everything in the store can be used on my super sensitive skin. I was so impressed with their service that I bought my friend a gift card for her birthday. I had something else in mind but figured she couldn't go wrong here. The latest project has been a partnership with Brad Pitt in the production of an Aloe Vera 100% Biodegradable Liquid Body Cleanser. Net profits will benefit a charity to raise awareness of the importance of sustaining our environment. Sure Kiehl's can be a little expensive. But their company is all about great, high-quality products that work. Kiehl's Mission Statement is to improve and maintain our environment for our future, all in conjunction with possibly the most handsome celebrity to ever walk the face of this earth. This 2 star review is really unfortunate. If I would have written it a while back I would have given this place 5 stars based on their amazing products and good customer service. The last time I went in there unfortunately was an unpleasant experience which is what prompted me to write the review. I sent my husband in last week to buy my abyssine cream because he was at the mall. Of course he's a man, so he got the WRONG one after he offered to do something nice for me. Then when he was offered the samples by an employee he refused. (ay ay ay, he obviously hasn't noticed that I live for the Kiehls samples and I've always had about 4 open pouches at one time since I've known him). It took me about a week to go back to the mall and exchange my product for the correct one. I debated on getting a different kind of moisturizer, so I was helped out by the really nice Viet guy, that's always a joy to talk to and has good advice (he's worked at several Kiehls stores for years and very knowledgeable w/ the products). He's also very generous w/ samples, this time he gave me only one ;) I was ready to exchange my product, when I was handed over to the older asian lady w/ glasses (manager?) She ignored me and walked over to help another person. Not in a hurry, I patiently waited, and waited and waited while she spoke to someone else. The lady she was helping pointed at me indicating that I needed help. She was walking over to me saying she would ring me up. As soon as she got to the register, I told her it was an exchange. She said 'oh you hab an et-chain?' I said yes, and she walked away. I was like oooook, maybe she needs a manager? then proceeded to help the other lady again. I waited and waited again, then she finally came back. She was about to ring the other lady up when she noticed I was still at the register. She had no choice but to help me. She was about to send me on her way, when I asked her for a sample. I was pretty specific about the one I wanted because I had just looked at the sample and read the name off the pouch. She said: 'oh that means you used it already'.... Me: no she said: pointing at my bag, but you have it there. me: yes she said: but you haven't used it me; no, not yet she said: well you should use that one first me: am I only allowed one sample? she said: (nothing, just blank intimidating stare) me: may I have another? she said: (blank stare again, then pretended to look for which drawer it was kept in) She then put it on the counter and walked away. I said thank you and she was gone, never looked back. That whole encounter was just awkward and totally rude!! I walked out w/ two samples because I had to ask for them and was given shit for it! I love Kiehl products, but today was such a bad experience with their customer service/staff. Its the holidays, so usually its busy in the store, but it looked quite empty, maybe about 2 other customers in the store. I walked in and asked the guy, "Do you have the baby moisturizer?" He says, No, we're sold out and walked away to help someone at the register. He wasn't really that bad, but I wanted to ask him when their next shipment was. So there were two girls standing next to the products talking to each other and didn't even acknowledge me until I had to say, "Excuse me!" Me: "Excuse me! Do you have the baby lotion in stock?" Girl: "No" Me: "Do you know when your next shipment is?" Girl: "No" Me: "Do you have any samples of it?" Girl: "No" The she went back to talking to the other sales associate. Talk about rude, they were just standing around talking to each other. I usually buy my Kiehl products at Nordstrom or the location in SoCal, they've always been pleasant and helpful. This is the first time I actually walked into the NorCal store and it was definitely an unpleasant experience. I don't think I would ever buy anything at this location, I'll probably just stick to Nordstrom or online. Great store, great products. Kiehl's has one of the best scrubbing soap bars I have tried. My girlfriend likes it so much she secretly uses it herself though it smells somewhat manly. I am also a fan of their facial fuel moisturizer and the blue eagle shaving cream (interesting how it's in a white bottle/ container). Stuff here is pricy but well worth the money! I LOVE Kiehl's products and have been using them for over ten years now. So naturally, when I moved to the Bay Area I went to my local Kiehl's store (this location). I have a couple of products that I always use Cucumber Herbal Toner, Gentle Foaming Facial Cleanser, and Ultra Moisturizer (all amazing products) but I also like to try some of the new products that come out and I LOVE recommendations from Kiehl's staff because they're usually so on point. I took the staff's recommendation at this location as well and bought an eye cream and a nighttime cream. Both of which were on the much more pricey side of things but the staff swore that they were fabulous and worth every cent. Since my experience with Kiehl's staff in the past was that they knew what they were talking about, I trusted them. Fast forward a couple of months when I move back to Canada and return to my trusted Kiehl's location. I mention to the staff that I haven't been as impressed with my Kiehl's products as of late to the point that I was thinking of abandoning the brand and switching to something new. The sales woman asked me what products I was using, I mentioned all of the products and especially the new expensive products that were recommended to me at the Valley Fair store only to find out that the reason I wasn't liking my Kiehl's products anymore is because none of the products that had been recommended to me were right for my skin. The staff at the Valley Fair store convinced me to buy some of the more expensive creams in the store and NONE of them were right for my skin. I essentially had wasted hundreds of dollars on products that do nothing for me! For instance a firming cream even though I'm 29 years old and have very firm skin. I love Kiehl's and I would recommend the products to anyone but the staff at this particular location are more about pushing expensive products than ensuring you're getting the products that are right for you. I almost left a brand that I love and trust because the recommendation of the staff at the Valley Fair store. read more

I'm a slave to Kiehl's products :) I absolutely love this store, the friendly staff, the knowledge that the staff is armed with; they really know their stuff. One of the girls has seen me and husband come in a couple of times already and like the sweetheart she is, always hooks it up with cool samples for us to try. I use practically all of their products, and my husband has pretty much turned to it for all his skincare/hair needs. Product-wise I LOVE Kiehl's. I often go down the path of buying Kiehl's, having pretty skin, taking my skin for granted and trying to use neutrogena, getting annoyed when my skin gets not so pretty and forking out the cash for some more kiehl's. I usually buy my stuff at the little kiehl's area in nordstrom but thought the store would be more fun. Normally you can count on getting pretty much equal amounts of samples and purchased product, but not this time. Normally you can count on having someone chipper helping you become overwhelmed with the things you didn't realize you needed until they showed them to you, but again, not this time. I was able to stare at product for a few minutes, pick up what I needed and pay, all without much help from the staff. The pink haired lady talked to my friend about her hair for a minute, but not in a sales sort of way, just a friendly way. The staff was pleasant enough, but not helpful really. I actually had to ask for samples, and then I only got two! The nordstrom girls usually toss a whole variety of "oohh try this, you'll love it!" fun stuff in my bag! Disappointing for sure. I still love the products of course, but I'll probably be going to nordstroms next time I need a pretty skin fix. read more

Easy to find things as it always so perfectly organized in here. Have questions about anything just ask and the staff is extremely knowledgeable! They are very courteous and polite as to meet your needs without offending you and aren't out to upsell you everything. Just let them know what you're looking for and by the end of shopping here, you'll know you left with everything you needed and nothing extra. Another great plus about this place is the samples they have to offer to test out products before buying. Oh and did I mention they have return policy as great as Nordstroms? The first time I came to Kiehls, a woman walked up to me and greeted me with a smile. She took the time to find the products that were best for my skin. I told her about the copious amounts of products I have been trying just to get rid of my acne and none of them works. Seeing the prices of each product kinda made me skeptical about them. I didn't want to waste a few hundred on products that have no effect on my skin. The lady totally understood my situation and gave me a few of the samples to try before buying the product. After using the product for two weeks (I thought the product wouldnt last that long o.o), I saw great improvement! !!! All my acne and breakouts were gone and it was just a few scars that were left on my face. I was amaxed at how effective the products were so I decided to buy it but never got to. Just a few days ago, I finally got the time to buy the products and now I am already seeing improvement. I love their products andbi will definitely return for more! On a mission to find a product to diminish age spots. Of course, I googled. I saw a Kiehl's product listed 3rd on a top 10 list. After considering all the factors, yelped for the nearest location. I try to avoid malls at all costs but, I had to get my product. Gio provided superb customer service. She appeared knowledgeable of the product. Although I walked out purchasing other products, Gio never "pushed" it on me like other sales representatives I've encountered. Gio was clear to explain that I wouldn't see immediate results. I absolutely LOVE Kiehl's baby products. It's very mild so it doesn't dry out baby's skin. My favorite product: Kiehl's Baby Gentle Foaming Hair and Body Wash. The poor kid hates baths and it takes 2 seconds to wash him down with this product. It was during the holidays and after seeing a gift set online, I came into the store to pick one up. They ran out, but the salesperson said I can create my own gift set. With her help, I picked out a bunch of male facial/grooming products. She stuffed all the products into a nice red box with a magnetic closure and topped it off with a white ribbon. The salesperson threw in a few samples into the gift set and a few items for me. Normally, I don't splurge on facial products for myself. I must admit... I used the men's energizing face wash and facial scrub. Yes, the products are a bit pricey, but the quality is there. A few drops of the face wash goes a long way. The scent is not overpowering and leaves a refreshing, tingling sensation. Good products, good customer service. read more

Especially with my crazy wavy one day straight the next south american hair, this little tube of genius does the trick for me. My hair stays smooth and shiny and smells pretty too ;) The ladies at Kiehls will bend over backwards for you and help you find exactly what you're looking for. I. HEART. KIEHL'S. Kiehl's never fails. I've been coming to this store for about two years now and have never looked back! What I love most is their customer service. No matter who the associate is, they always give great, knowledgeable, and customized service. They all listen to what you're looking for and need, and make the perfect suggestions based on your skin and needs. They are incredibly helpful. They also always give samples that they think you can benefit from/use based on what you've told them, which is great because you can try out their recommendations before buying them. Every single product I have tried from Kiehl's has really come through with its promise and has given me what I need. I started slowly with using just a few products, but now my entire skincare lineup is supplied by Kiehl's. I've even gotten the bf to step-up his routine and he now uses Kiehl's because their products really do work. I love this store and its staff and am extremely confident in their knowledge and recommendations. I'm crazy picky and careful with what I use on my skin and hair; I always do research on what ingredients to look for/avoid, read reviews, and try to find the best products that suit me.
