First time trying Kiki's was at a farmer market tule event in La Mirada. I ordered a Cuban coffee (I think.. café cubano?) it was TINY and cost about $6. It was about the size of an espresso. I do think that is too expensive, however, it really was delicious and strong. It was a bit too sweet. Se pasaron con la azúcar, but it was tolerable. The flavor of the coffee was so good I kept drinking it. If it was less sweet, it would be perfect. I ordered the fried plantains and they were easily the best I've had. They were perfectly sweet, and perfectly cooked through. They had some caramelized sugar parts around the surface that was especially yummy. I also tried the ham croquets, and a lechón sandwich. The ham cróquets were also very small, but they packed great flavor and texture. They were satisfyingly cheesy, hammy, and crunchy. The lechón sandwich was very, very good. At first, when I opened the wrapping, I was disappointed because it looked so plain and dry. After my first bite, I thought, okay, it tastes good, but it is a little dry. Then I kept eating, and it started growing on me more and more until I realized I loved it. The seasoning on the pork was great. I actually ended up really appreciating it being just the shredded pork and bun. I added some of that hot sauce they have by the pick up window, and it was bomb bomb bomb. I'd say that their prices are up there. HOWEVER, I have been to other trucks (and other restaurants in general) that are also pricy, and they suck. This food is not that. This food is made with love. It's delicious. It's worth the cost. If the coffee wasn't so sweet, my whole experience would be 10/10. read more

We noticed that not only do they have a food truck that comes regularly to the Saturday farmers market in La Mirada, but that they opened a location on Lambert and Colima, inside a liquor store. We enjoyed the food: the plantains and beef items, but we wished that they had chicken options, as we're not huge fans of pork. With that said, the service was very nice and is a friendly family business. They say that their menu items are all made fresh too, using family recipes. Got to try this food truck today at a little craft market. We ordered the Cuban sandwich and a side of plantains. I enjoyed both very much. My gf and I tried Kiki's at the Los Alamitos Glow Market. We were really excited to get Cuban food. Unfortunately, nothing we ordered was good. It was mediocre. The lechón was exceptionally acidic without complimentary spices to balance the flavor. The frijoles negros were overcooked and bland. The rice was dry. Our Yucca Frita had the look and texture of soggy Burger King Chicken Fries (ironically, this was the only item that was sealed seasoned well). And our maduros were too green to be maduros in my opinion with a firm, unsweet flavor. Drove a long way to get to this food truck because we were craving Cuban food, and in my area we can't find anything worth waisting our calories on ir money. Truck was located outside of an apartment complex not easy to find from the Main Street when you are Not familiar with the surroundings. Food was good. Amazing Cuban food. The staff was so friendly and attentive. I've never had authentic Cuban sandwich before. They also had an array of different authentic canned drinks from Cuba. The cashier was so interactive on describing the flavors. Definitely got me trying something other then a coke. The Cuban sandwich, and shredded beef sandwiches were delicious. I even went back for more stuffed potato balls. If I run into this truck again, I'm definitely trying the other items they have. I also recommend the green hot sauce on the food. The guru found himself the other day food truck curious and discovered this one. This is just your basic no frills Cuban. A few sandwiches and a few bowls with some side options. They also have something called yucca fries which are fried yucca plant roots. It's very starchy almost like fried plantains. So if you're in to that you're good. The potato balls were somewhat bland and I would argue skip those. For the most part I would stick to one of their descent sandwiches. Nowhere near the best I've ever had but descent enough for me to give 4 stars. read more

Kiki's Cuban food truck was brought in to cater lunch for the company I work for. The choices for lunch included a Cubano sandwich, Shredded beef sandwich, Pork bowl, shredded beef bowl, or a vegetarian bowl. Stood in line for 30 minutes waiting to order and when I arrived at the truck I asked for the shredded beef bowl and was told that they had run out the shredded beef. As I don't eat pork and the vegetarian bowl looked unappetizing, I didn't eat anything. I am surprised that for catering an event like this they can't plan well enough to not run out of a popular item half way through the event. read more

This food truck was parked at my apartment complex and wanted to give Cuban food a try. Since it was my first time trying it I decided to go with a Cubano and papa's rellenas (fried potato balls filled with ground beef) and sweet plantains for dessert. The owner was very nice and chatted with me while my food was being made. Everything was really tasty! The potato balls were delicious and the meat and potato melted together with every bite. The plantains were so complex in flavor and the sweet wasn't overpowering at all and had a lovely chew. The Cubano was very good as well. I saw Cuban espresso pictured on the side of the truck and the owner said they are made to order and that it took him awhile to get the ratio just right to be authentic and work in a food truck. I wanted to try it but didn't want to try an espresso with a reputation of being really strong at 6 pm on a Wednesday. Will definetly give that espresso a try next time I see them and get more of those potato balls and plantains! read more
