It has 6-7 tables so it can accommodate 20ish customers at any one time. Parking is available either on the street or in a lot a few steps from the restaurant.

Encouraged by several posts on local Facebook groups raving about Asahi Sushi's 'all-you-can-eat' option, I recently visited with a large group (four adults and two children). The service was exceptional -- we were seated right away at one of the large group tables, the staff was very responsive, and a massive amount of food which barely fit on the table arrived surprisingly quickly. Diners can order sushi rolls and sashimi as well as a variety of freshly-made traditional Japanese dishes (teriyaki, tempura, etc.) either à la carte (paying for each item ordered) or on an 'all-you-can-eat' (AYCE) basis ($28 for lunch or dinner on Monday through Thursday; $30 for lunch or dinner on Friday through Sunday and holidays). AYCE includes soup, salad, hot and cold appetizers, sushi, sashimi, tempura, teriyaki, and even ice cream or tempura bananas and oreos (if you have room for it after your meal). Even if you're not in the mood for a heavy meal, I still recommend the AYCE option if you're going to order more than two of the premium sushi rolls (which range from $14 to $15 apiece). There's no limit to the number of orders you can place, but it's best to pace yourself by ordering a few items at a time. We ordered a LOT of food for our group, including several hot and cold appetizers, katsu chicken, sashimi, and special rolls. While the quality and freshness of the ingredients was obvious, the overall experience definitely put an emphasis on quantity over quality. I tried the Kiss of Fire roll (made with tuna, salmon, and yellowtail topped with avocado and spicy mayo) and the Outstanding Roll (made with spicy tuna and avocado topped with pepper tuna). Both were perfectly acceptable, but they felt uninspired and lacked the distinct flavor or 'wow factor' that makes a sushi place a true destination. My meal definitely wasn't bad -- the service was great, our large order was served very quickly, and no one got sick. I'd give it 2.5 stars, rounded up to 3 stars. It's a solid, consistent option if you are in the Norwood area, especially for families or large groups. However, it didn't quite live up to the 'must-visit' hype for me. I'd return for the convenience and value, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. PRO TIP: Bring a bottle of wine or beer from home or stop at 86 & Vine right across Livingston Street to enjoy with your meal. Asahi is a BYOB establishment and does not serve alcohol.

A DOMODOMO in Closter?!?…read more Okay, not exactly. But this is definitely a spinoff of DOMODOMO, my favorite Japanese restaurant in Jersey City. Maybe this place can be thought of as a mini DOMODOMO specializing in katsu (fried pork). The food is definitely DOMODOMO quality. Loved the pork katsu - it's fried nice and crispy and packed with flavor in each bite. Chicken katsu was also fried well and delicious. I also enjoyed the niku udon as a nice comforting noodle bowl. And sushi was also delicious and you could taste the freshness of the fish. They have a weekday lunch special but lunch portions were a bit small. Ambiance felt a little more upscale than a standard Japanese place, but not pretentious. Service was very good - waiters were very attentive. We'll be back. We haven't had to make reservations, but that might change as more people discover this place...

My food takes around 15-20 minutes to be ready, which is very reasonable. I haven't had any issues with the service here. They are efficient, pleasant, and always get my order right. My favorite rolls are the spicy salmon, spicy tuna, and eel & avocado. The fish to rice ratio is perfect. They pack your rolls with a huge portion of fish. The rice is well seasoned with vinegar, sugar, and salt. The tuna and salmon are incredibly fresh and they're actually spicy!!! The piece of Eel Sushi I ordered was delivered as sashimi. The fish is all on a bed of veg and looks very bibimbap-like, with a twist (raw seafood). You get a really good portion of different sashimi. We also tried the Usuzukuri appetizer, which is Fluke sashimi with special sauce and roe. Husband got the rolls. Super duper reasonably priced and tastes fresh! The restaurant is owned by a cute Korean couple. Felt very homey. We went back to order food for dinner for the fam. Unagi-don is yummers - the eel and unagi sauce is great. Wish there was more sauce to soak the rice underneath cuz that stuff is addicting. The combo platter is so beautifully put together. Was a huge hit with the family!
