This is our 2nd visit. It is not the best hibachi I have ever had, but it's not bad. It's a big beautiful restaurant with ample parking spots. I have yet to try their sushi. I had filet mignon hibachi and hubby had chicken. Fried rice was ok. Noddles were a ok, not much taste to it. My filet was very juicy and tender. Wine menu is limited. Had a 6:30 reservation last night as well as many others and we were all told it would only be a 20 minute wait only to wait over an hr. Once we were seated they took our order only to wait another hr before our food came out. It wouldn't have been as bad if they were honest about the wait from the beginning and if we didn't have 4 kids with us. There were empty tables as well and we found out later they didn't have enough chefs. My wife spoke with "the manager" as we were leaving and expressed her displeasure and he acted as if he could care less. If I could give it zero stars I would. read more

Service was terrible. Food wasn't bad but got sick that night from it this place use to be good I don't know what happened. It's to bad but my family and I total of 5 of us dinner was $320. Service was the worse waitress disappeared we had to order from a different waiter every time and since we weren't their table they would forget. What a disappointment. We looked forward to our recent visit only to find the staff to be exceptionally rude and unhelpful. Our reservations were honored more than an hour late and they would not allow us to order any hors d'ouvres at the bar. They were happy to take our money, but not to earn it at all. Save yourself and stay away. 8pm reservation to not be seated until 8:40 with 4 people of our party at a separate table with a flat top that doesn't work. Therefore, the cook's back would be facing half our party. When we asked to switch to a new table because ours was dirty we were met with a foul attitude from the manager who stated that the 10 tables open in the restaurant were all broken. We asked several times for them to clean our table which they did not do throughout the duration of our meal. Soup tasted like salty onion water, salad dressing was disgusting and the chef didn't arrive to our table until 2 hours after our reservation. When they finally did, they sprayed so much saki over the vegetables that it legitametly tasted like acetone and poorly distributed the proportions. On top of that, we had to ask several times for over 30 minutes of being seated the glass of water that was ordered with the drink order and never recieved. Each time we asked, the server replied "a round of water is coming" yet someone was still without anything to drink. Overall a terrible experience and terrible place not worth your time or money. I've been going to Kiku all my life. I mean for over 20+ years. Back when nutritional science was about as respected as astrology, we would go there every week for hibachi. I miss being ignorant about cholesterol. I say it's all a fad. There are two Kiku's in the area. One in Paramus and the other in Alpine. The Alpine Kiku always has fresh seafood. Relative to other hibachi places, it's got better quality food and decor. Kids will love the fried rice. It's hit or miss whether you'll get an entertaining chef or not but at this point I go for the food and that's the case no matter where you go for hibachi. You can order a la carte or the dinner. I recommend the dinner which come with a soup, salad, and ice cream dessert. As of this writing the dinners should run from $28 to $35. I usually go for the shrimp or filet dinner or you can always do the combos. Also this is a cheap place for drinks. Cocktails are pretty cheap. The bar area is somewhat small and not very popular and in need of renovating. They also have a non-hibachi restaurant area. Also they have rooms for larger parties and private occasions. It has an intimate feel. Enjoy! read more

The food is very good. The hibachi chef was a highlight. Very entertaining. Nice location. Decor was standard but nice. The service otherwise was horrific. Arrived a little bit early but seated over 45 minutes after our reservation time. Waited at the bar. Tried to order drinks. Three people behind the bar desperately trying to make drinks not a single person asked us if we'd like anything. It would have been a simple few beers! And there was no one else at the bar ordering drinks! After 15 minutes gave up. Finally got seats and they completely forgot about us. Another 15-20 minutes and they finally got around to our order. Again, meal was good. But the service issues persisted. I asked for a refill on a drink. Twice. Received none. Again a service failure. Paid the check. They brought back a receipt for me to sign and then stood there. Watching. Never seen anything like it. Spend your time and money elsewhere. Completely not worth it. read more

I am a huge fan of Hibatchi and when my boss suggested it for our holiday luncheon everyone in the group was thrilled. While we had a great time because the cook was very entertaining, we were slightly let down by the food. 1st off the lunch prices are pretty much the same as the dinner the prices. That can get very expensive. The quality of the chicken and beef seemed good. The fried rice was nothing special and we all had large clumps of white unflavored rice in our bowls because the cook didn't mix it up well. Also the portions were all off. Some people had large mounds of food while others had very little. read more

Without a doubt the worst hibachi experience I have had. Terrible service and mediocre food. We were a large party with some in our party ordering sushi and non hibachi items for dinner. Waitstaff was inattentive and forgetful. They took our orders and 1) did not tell one of the people in our party that they were out of the fish she ordered until they brought the food for most of the table and 2) did not bring out the sushi until most at the table were finished eating and it was not until after I had to asked the waiter 2 times and then spoke to the manager. The manager made excuses instead of apologizing and did nothing to try to make up for the poor service. A very disappointing experience. They have lost me as a customer. read more

We went to celebrate my daughters birthday. While the hibachi chef was cooking we noticed a live cockroach on the grill. He then just picked it up with a towel and threw it away and continued on cooking the food on the same grill that the bug was on. he never apologized and we were never offered anything for there being a bug on our grill. After dinner we tried to get them to come over and sing happy birthday to my daughter. we waited about 30 minutes no one came over . we asked several times could someone please come over and sing happy birthday . when they finally did come over it was completely lackluster and lame with completely no enthusiasm and then we had to wait even longer just to pay our check. Kiku is a nice hibachi restaurant but if you come after 6 you have to wait a long time. Also it only opens after 5 pm so it didn't really fit my schedule. The tricks are fun and funny too, but I don't want to spoil the beans. If you eat healthy and your wondering about msg, then they only use it in the kitchen and not the table. When I went there, there was a new waiter and he didn't really know what he was doing, he mostly talked to the other half of the table. I think that this is an ok restaurant and they need to train there waiters and have more chefs. read more

I love going to this restaurant for the teppan yaki experience! The food and entertainment can be hit or miss, depending on which chef cooks for you but I love going for the ambiance alone. We came here with high expectations and boy we were we WRONG. The sushi looked delicious and although the decor of the restaurant was nice the service was just HORRIBLE. We had a private party in a private room but we rarely had service and twice we had to leave to get the attention of the waitress who didn't even come to take our order. We ordered sushi and udon soup noodles which we're just okay nothing special. The worst part overall was service. Nobody came to check up on us, nobody came to take our orders we had to consistently ask the receptionist who also ignored us. My family comes here for events like birthdays and graduations. I sometimes come in with a friend or with a date. Each time the service is a bit slow, albeit friendly, but things eventually get to you. This specific evening was for my sisters birthday with 11 people total. Eating there this Friday was my worst experience there. The food is always excellent and I will never complain about that, however, the service was just horrible today. Food and drink orders were fine at first, but trying to get water for the table ended up falling on deaf ears twice! I gave up and just started asking for water for specific people when they requested. They had run out of their pink napkins and instead gave us and a table near us paper napkins, on top of that, someone received a totally different plate than the rest of the restaurant. This lead me to believe that they were just not prepared for such a busy night. The food was perfect, as always, but the chef ran out of 'material' 2/3 of the way through. It wasn't like the usually non stop action and interaction I've grown used to. Then comes the dessert order. We ordered a number of green tea ice creams, which we only received two of and people decided to share instead because we had grown used to the lack of attention throughout the night. There were screaming kids running around through the tables making an average experience worse, and no one said or did anything about it. (they should have gone to Mcdonalds!) Went here for a friends bday dinner on a Friday night. It was actually pretty slow but quiet all the same. The food was good we all walked out stuffed to the brim which is always a plus. Our hibachi chef was a nice enough guy he put on a fun show although we couldn't really understand much of what he was saying other than "msg". They kinda fooled us a bit on a menu item. Apparently white rice comes with each dinner(which we didn't know) but they asked us if we wanted fried rice so we said yeah sure n they ended up charging us each like $5 for the extra little bowl of fried rice. Not the end of the world but they coulda been a bit more upfront about it. It wasn't great enough to become a regular for me for Japanese. read more
