D9. Chicken Katsu Don
Nina K.

Been craving ramen and stopped by this spot near my old high school. So glad I came in! The food and service were great. It's located in the shopping center in front of the villa sports club. It's a small spot with cute decorations. The tables were all clean and nicely organized. We started with the bbq pork buns which came out hot and fresh. The texture was great. 3 for $6. I had the spicy miso ramen and it was excellent. The flavor of the broth was good without being too salty. The soft boil egg was perfect and I enjoyed the pork chashu as well. Other ramen spots I've been to don't usually have good chashu tbh. The noodles were a bit on the thicker side but cooked well. They put spinach rather than bok choy which I found odd but it worked! We also got the chicken katsu don which was a great portion. The chicken was cooked well and crispy. A few bites were a bit chewy. It was served with broccoli, corn and carrots. I will definitely be back again and recommend this! Better than Tamashi and Rakkan.

Good spot for drinks. I'd probably pass on the ramen next time. The broth wasn't flavorful and the pork wasn't exactly tender. The steak udon was a hard pass.

Who's ready for ramen and boba?? What an incredible combination to have a perfect marriage of ramen and boba!! They even have vegetarian and gluten free option!! This place is in the heart of Katy community and we love it. They have an amazing decor, modern Asian theme, super friendly workers and the best is the food...a bonus is wifi!! Great place to hang out, study, grab a refreshing drink or drinks and enjoy the food! Come support these local businesses! Chow Chow Time!!

Found a ramen gem! Came back two consecutive week b/c one of the best ramen I've eaten! Both times i ordered the tonkotsu kuro ramen. The broth was so creamy, but also light, and not overly salty. The pork chashu is were its at! Was so flavorful and such a generous amt of topping. Will be going back for lunch as long as i work around the area! I've also tried their shrimp tempera and egg rolls appetizers. Nothings spectacular, does the job if you're in the mood for some fried appi. Might try their boba next time.

Came here for lunch and it was nice! The decor is really great. The food was delicious! And the boba was on point. The service was a bit off. Everyone was super nice but just not attentive nor accurate. They did not bring us water. Our food came before our tea drinks. My tea was warm on the bottom so I'm guessing it needed more ice? I ordered the tofu curry but was given chicken. We had to eat lunch in a hurry so I went with all the mistakes. I'm sure they would've corrected them but I just did not have time! I like this place aside from all the errors that occurred. They were really nice and the food was good. I'm sure I'll be back! I think they opened recently so I'm sure they will get things figured out soon.

Cute mom and pop shop! The staff was welcoming and sweet. I love the aesthetic, it reminded me of Dotonbori, Japan! The place has a huge variety of food and the price of drinks is affordable compared to other places. They have outlets, making it a great place for students to come study or people to get their work done. Also have free WiFi Now for the food, I feel like their name is a tad misleading. I came in expecting them to be a specialty Japanese restaurant, and primarily serve ramen and boba. Instead you'll find a variety of Asian cuisine on their menu including from fried rice, dim sum, herbal mango sango, etc On the bright side, you can probably find something each person is willing to try but on the downside, I feel that it may take away from the overall quality of each dish. Now for the food review: The mango smoothie is not bad for its price! It's a large size, but definitely a mix of powder versus fresh fruit. (3.5/5) Tempura shrimp (3.5/5): it had a descent batter to shrimp ratio and went well with the dashi sauce Popcorn chicken (1/5): When it came out, i thought they had brought me the wrong dish. I thought maybe it was squid because part of it looked like tentacles. It is definitely not Japanese kaarage or the crispy Taiwanese chicken I thought it would be. It appeared covered in corn starch and didn't come with a sauce. I would not order this again. I got the spicy miso ramen with pork chasu. I loved the way they plated the dish. It was aesthetically pleasing. The noodles are thin, they charge you a fee to upgrade to thick or udon noodles. The broth isn't as flavorful and there's not as much depth to it, but the pork chasu was AMAZING! You can see the char on both sides and they give you a decent portion! The noodles were also cooked well. It's somewhere between a 3.5 and a 4 for me. They give you one seaweed and also use spinach, which added a different flavor than I'm used to with most ramen places. Overall, I'm sure there are dishes that I may try at a later point. I also think the atmosphere, the affordable drinks and other food options make it a cute date spot or study place! But likely wouldn't call it my go-to ramen place.

The fried rice is super yummy

My updated review - My daughter and I ordered Tempura Udon Soup, Shrimp Fried Rice and Mango Pomelo Sago. The Shrimp Tempura came with a special house made mayo sauce and it had a kick and was tasty. I especially like the udon soup. It's just different than the soup from other ramen restaurants. The Shrimp Fried Rice came with two skewers of Shrimps which were quite a lot. However, I particularly like the fried rice. Found out from the owner that their chef uses butter to fried the rice and the rice they use is Japanese rice. No wonder it's so delicious and it smells so good! I was very satisfied with the flavor! The Mango Pomelo Sago was dense with a lot of mango in it. The owner said that she uses 1 whole mango for each of this order. Even though this drink is $7, I think it worth the price as they put a whole mango in it. It's a yummy drink!

I'm proud that they have servers of this caliber at Asian restaurants in Houston, TX. Usually you see professional servers at upscale restaurants. There was a busboy there towards the end, and even he was super professional. Whoever the manager is at this location, you guys are doing an outstanding job training the staff here. Keep up the good work! 2. Price - about $15/bowl. 3. Ambiance - The decor here is beautiful. There are natural lighting from the front, with wood panels everywhere, lanterns hung high. They did a nice job decorating the place and you definitely feel as if you're in Japan somewhere. 4. Food - This is where this place shines compare to all the ramen places in Houston. They have the option of low sodium broth. I took one sip, and it felt like home cooked Ramen. I'm not talking about instant ramen that you buy from the store, but the ramen made from scratch. I often go to ramen places in Houston and I dread going because I know how salty they taste. There are 2 other locations I have in mind in Houston that are also my favorites. But I would say this is not bad compared to the bowl of ramen I had in Narita, Japan. If you're wondering what I've ordered, it was the CHICKEN RICH RAMEN and make sure to request for low sodium. 5. Cleanliness - Dining area is well kept, clean, and the busboy is on top of things. The restroom is questionable. The personal restroom doors are hard to close and lock. For management, have a look at the restrooms and see if you can improve things. SUMMARY: I would definitely come back. It is just THAT GOOD!

Something forgotten. Something tasty…read more Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya is a well-dressed ramen shop with an impressive interior design. The food overall was tasty. I was so hungry I forgot to get a photo of the initial presentation, but the noodles were perfect and the broth was tasty. Other than that, it was pretty lackluster: the soft-boiled egg was hard and one of the grossest eggs I've had, and the chashu was cold. We also ordered some chicken karaage, but that never showed, and our waiter was too busy to stop by so I could tell him. I'm not familiar with the ramen scene in Houston, but Kizuki was a huge letdown, especially with their roots to Japan. ご馳走様でした
