I ordered from here for the first time through Uber eats and it came quickly. The price is very similar to many of the other sushi restaurants on SI. I got the 2 roll lunch special- shrimp tempura and eel avocado. We also got a 3 roll lunch special- spicy scallop, spicy tuba, and chicken and tempura. We got the fried calamari too. I think the rolls are pretty decent and can compare to many other sushi places around here. I did not like the calamari as much. Their spicy tuna/Spicy salmon is definitely spicy. More spicy than other sushi places to my experience, funny thing is the Kani Salad is spicy too (why?!?) WOW I am shocked at the meal i received. I ordered my Fav.. Lobster Teriyaki .. What did i do wrong? I have a hard time taking my lobster out of the shell and cutting it. I asked them to do the aforementioned for me.. However, there was some type of grit, sand? What happened.. If I could give zero stars I would...Ordered through Grubhub I just received my order and my food spilled all on the inside of the bag. I contacted the restaurant and they told me there is nothing they can do for me because they told the driver to be careful and keep it straight and that's what happens when you order from places like that. They know they put the lid on right. Now I have no food and spent $65 on sushi I can't even eat spoke to Grubhub and they refunded me my money for the order. read more

I love this place; been ordering from here for years. The chicken teriyaki always tastes fresh, & the lunch special isn't too expensive.

This place wasn't bad, but I probably wouldn't order sushi from here again. There are many other sushi places on SI with tastier food for similar prices. My family ordered dinner from here last week and it was delivered in about 30-45 minutes from 3.5 miles away, which I consider good for dinner time. The miso soup was not very good, it had this not very fresh boiled water taste which made it unenjoyable. I don't know how to describe the taste better than that, but it made the soup not appetizing. The sashimi regular was alright, some of the types of fish were better than others. On to the special rolls, we ordered 2. The size of the rolls were standard but the flavor on one of them was lacking. I got the double spicy roll which is just spicy tuna and spicy salmon, but both were not very spicy so the roll was boring and didn't stand out. I also got the crispy dragon roll with added cream cheese and that one was good. The eel avocado roll, spicy scallops roll, and Philadelphia roll were good, definitely on par with other places. I asked for a side of spicy mayo and they charged me 0.50$ and did not include it. Instead they included a side of some kind of white watery liquid that smelled very questionable, kinda like mustard or vinegar or something. I had no interest in trying the mystery sauce. I thought it was commonly known that spicy mayo for sushi is an orange sauce which is a mix of sriracha, mayonnaise, and sesame oil. Maybe there was some kind of miscommunication, but I have no idea what the sauce they gave us was supposed to be for. read more

Not great at all, wouldn't come back. Sashimi was not fresh. Rice was really dry to the point the sushi pieces were falling apart. Very skimpy with the fish. I went with the Two Rolls Lunch Special, ordering a Salmon Roll and a Spicy Tuna Roll. They were both fine. The Salmon Roll was very fresh, while I could have used more heat from the Spicy Tuna Roll. I also ordered the Kiku Volcano, which was an interesting piece. Spicy crunchy tuna wrapped with seared salmon, with mayo and three flavor sauce on top. Very rich and creamy, but not something I would order again. Quantity: The Kiku Volcano is relatively small, but since it is so rich it is the appropriate size. The Two Rolls Lunch Special makes for a solid meal. Value: $6.50 for the Two Rolls Lunch Special. $10 for the Kiku Volcano. Ambiance: Kiku Sushi is located in Staten Island. The small shop sits along a busy road and near a train station. The space itself is relatively simple. A few pieces of art on the wall. They have the sushi bar set up along the right wall, so you can check out the chefs at work. The music choices were an eclectic mix of hits from the early 2000s. Crowd: Just one couple dining in the restaurant, but two or three other folks grabbed food to go. Service: Friendly and fast service. Easy for take-out, but also great for lunch on a work day. Went for the lunch special ($8.95 for 3 rolls & a soup/salad) Ordered edamame separately for an app, the miso soup and an asparagus roll, a shrimp avocado roll and a sweet potato roll. The edamame was over salted, soup was great, rolls were good but like I said nothing about average. Would prob not return compared to other choices Staten Island has to offer. Took forever for delivery -- very disappointed! Our Delivery driver called and we went downstairs, but he didn't get out of the car for at least 15 minutes, and it's cold outside, baby! Driver's English skills were poor, called the restaurant who assured us that we'd get our delivery in minutes. I explained the driver was sitting in the car for some reason. While the food was good, there was no proper reason given for the delay. Was this a new employee? Were they not familiar with the area? Next time I'll order from the neighborhood joint. I used to frequent Kiku more than I do now, but their mistakes became one too many for me. For one, they seem to have a problem with brown rice. Maybe it's more difficult to make a roll with brown rice, I don't know, but they seemed shocked and confused at the concept of brown rice. It's not a problem at other places, so that always came across as weird to me. Another time, when I was with my dad for lunch, he ordered the lunch order of chicken teriyaki. They misunderstood and gave him a bento box. Not only was that not what he wanted, he's allergic to shellfish! The bento box comes with shumai and a California roll-- shrimp and crab. That would have been a disaster if he was with someone who didn't know what was in that and he ate it. Nonetheless, I came back recently, again with my dad. It was a more pleasant experience, though our server asked us five times to confirm our order (I guess because they've been getting a lot of people's wrong). One thing that I did not appreciate was that the place smelled like fish, which I immediately picked up on as soon as I walked in. The food? Good, not great.
