I dined in for lunch and was quite surprised to see the venue empty at a little past 12 pm. I've dined here before the pandemic and enjoyed a fresh sushi boat with friends! Today, I'm sorry to say I didn't have as great of an experience as I had in the past. While I appreciated the venue's impeccable appearance and Covid precautionary measures - noted by their placement of disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizers upon each neatly spaced table - the slow service and lack of customer service seemed to draw upon our dismay with the server. Despite the restaurant being empty, it took our server 15 minutes before approaching us to take down our order because she was so engrossed in her cellphone at the counter. More so, she charged me for the 'Sushi Lunch Special' but seemed to have forgotten to provide my included soup and salad until I brought it to her attention. In retrospect, the sushi I ate was just okay. It didn't seem very fresh. The rolls were small in size and average in taste compared to nearby sushi venues. read more

I ordered my food for pick up yesterday when it was 90 degrees when I walked in the restaurant it felt like it was 100 degrees in there I don't know if they didn't turn on the air or if it was broken. All I know is that my bag of raw sushi was sitting on the chair waiting for pickup, maybe 10-20 minutes, and when I opened it to eat it, all the sushi and rice and everything was warm. Four of us showed up at Avocado Sushi place. All of us are deaf and we all grabbed the take out menu, start reviewing and deciding what we want to order. The staff were very patient with us and each one of us took turns to order. We asked for paper and pen and they provided for us. I was the last one to order because I wanted everyone to make sure they understand what they are ordering due to food allergies and dietary restrictions. We all ordered to take home. We didn't stay in the location. One friend ordered salmon and cream cheese roll, goyza roll, salad with ginger dressing, and chicken teriyaki. She enjoyed her meal. One friend ordered sushi roll that was made out of cucumber instead of using the rice. I never knew they can do that and too bad I'm not fan of cucumbers. Maybe they can do the same with zucchini? I visited my cousin Thursday and tried this place called Avocado Sushi and their pokébowl. I ordered the "Salmon Lover" that costs about $15 after tax. The delivery was super quick, which was really nice! I made sure to tip $3 even though the store is around the corner because I care about our drivers. However, I was pretty disappointed at the size of the bowl. Looking at the bowl when I opened it up, it appears to be a medium size bowl half filled. In the pictures, you can even see there is barely any rice on the bottom. It tasted fine, but it just seemed...gimmicky. The pictures of the pokébowls on the website show bowls with much, much more included inside the bowl than this. It did feel almost like a scam, but the sushi rolls were ordered tasted fine. And to unfortunately top it off, the woman on the phone had to call back because she messed up part of the order. I did have to confirm the same thing several times, which did end with the other pokébowl we ordered having incorrect items, but it wasn't as disappointing as the portions. All other pokébowl places on Staten have much larger portions than this, and I must unfortunately recommend everyone stay away from ordering pokebowls from here. The Avocado Sushi on Forest has much better options, as well as the sushi spot in the mall as well as Miyabi on Forest. My first visit to Avocado Sush (Amboy) was so good I went back two days later and had the same thing! My husband saw my Godzilla Roll on Monday so he had one today (Wednesday). FYI: He used the men's room and said it was as clean as an operating room. The service was quick and polite and the food delicious. We highly recommend this restaurant. I ordered an avocado roll and a fried rice from this place. I picked it up within 15 minutes and brought it home to be so unpleasantly surprised. First of all It was ridiculously overpriced, second all of the food was horrible. My avocado roll was mushy and hot. When will I learn.. I so wanted to try this place. Many Sushi places take short cuts.. So does this one! My Salmon teriyaki I had an after taste! I can only equate it with going bad or preservatives to help the fish last longer. I understand that they use farm raised too.. Thank god my Salmon Sushi was not the same grade of fish. However, I was not a fan.. The portion size was small to boot. My girlfriend asked me to taste her roll. Supper bad mistake.. The roll did not smell fresh but I thought it was the eel. The after taste.. of the expired fish caused me to vomit. and for 20 min. I could not get rid of the Taste. I consider myself a foodie and a Sushi lover.. Run do not walk from this place!! This place is very good for lunch. There lunch specials are hard to beat and are very filling. I usually order for take out but when I do eat there occasionally it is nice service and very clean. Today I ordered two lunch specials with three rolls and then another bento box with chicken teriyaki. The bento box has a lot of food and was delicious. These both came with soup and salad compared to other places where you only can pick one. I'm not the biggest fan of sushi, but I tried a piece of someone's "pink lady" roll and boy was my mind changed! It was so surprisingly delicious and now I'm a little more open to try more. This is now the third location that's opened so I'd say this restaurant has become a big hit. Today my daughter took me here for a late Mother's Day dinner. They showed us a dine in menu. When they brought us the bill we noticed they were charging us more money. We asked for a menu to compare, we were right. We brought it to the waitress' attention. She told us they have a new menu. I argued and said they should be charging me the price on the menu they gave us. Then they brought me a paper menu and told me their waiting for their updated dine in menu. These prices were not on the dine in menu. I told them to make this customer happy they should deduct the difference and then I will remember for next time. They would not do it. I placed a takeout order and when I went home to eat my food i found a hair in it so I had to throw it all away because I was scared it was in my other food as well. It also wasn't human hair, it was short and blonde, we don't have any animals or blonde hair in my house, so I really think that you should check to make sure there's no hair in your restaurant. read more
