We saw some signs. We followed them... down some dirt roads. And ended up at Killdeer. The bartender, owner and distiller was awesome. Shared stories behind each gin, whiskey, absinthe and liqueur. We ended up grabbing a few bottles and I'd love to be back. Gave us free stickers (it's $1 for 1 and $2 for 2). And I'm pretty sure he waived our tasting. Great spot. Great guy. Called this am to get some bottles for family. The owner was kind enough to pop in to open early for us. We plugged the place into the maps and it took us straight there. There are also some signs along the way and a large sign in the driveway. Parking was easy and the place was well paved for ADA. The tasting room is small but perfect for a few groups and comfy seating. The outdoor area looks nice for picnics, dogs, tasting liquors etc. We purchased the corn whiskey and espresso liqueur. The corn whiskey was smooth and liqeur was subtle in sweetness (which is preferable). The owner was very nice and knew anything you wanted to know about their product. Very cool distillery. Small and friendly. We happened to see a sign on I-5 and just went. We sampled bourbon, and a couple other whiskeys. Ended up leaving with a Very yummy coffee liquor, Some fantastic Gin, couple bottles of Absinth (extra yummy) as well as 2 different whiskey. All just super clean ,smooth flavor. Wine Tour Impromptu Stop: Killdeer Distilling We had time to kill before our next winery stop so the tour company we were with took us here. My husband and I split a tasting which was $10. Colin, one of the owners, was very friendly and informative. Our favorites were the corn whiskey and espresso liqueur plus the black cat that we met. We happened to drive by a sign and live close by and happened to be looking to buy whiskey for a friends gift and found this local place. We went in to buy it and the gentleman was super nice and we are so glad to support local and hope our friend loves it so he can start to support a local whiskey distillery:) We don't drink alcohol so we didn't try it and can't speak on how it is, but love that's it's local and small batch. read more

Colin and Kate are purveyors of some of the most interesting spirits I've ever encountered. They're clearly passionate about what they are doing: crafting small batches of some very unique and distinctive offerings. The rye whiskey is deep and complex. It's the sort of thing you'd want to sip with friends with a cold glass of water by the fire. The 100% corn whiskey is one you could easily mix into cocktails or drink straight. It's clean, simple, and delightfully approachable. The vodka is a close typed cousin.......probably the smoothest and cleanest finish of any vodka I've ever tried. The gin, is also extremely clean and just amazing. I have never, ever, found a gin that was so subtly nuanced with fresh citrus scent and tastes......it's smooth, gentle, and eminently drinkable. Even non-gin people will probably find something in this to intrigue. The espresso liqueur is simply delicious as well. If you can't imagine this with the vodka as a Black Russian, or drizzled over some good vanilla ice cream, you aren't challenging yourself! But, my friends: the STAR of the visit was their absinthe! If you've never tried it before, I'll warn you: it will simply ruin you. If you already like absinthe, you're in for a shock! It's got the absinthe punch, but it requires no extensive sugar cube prep. Drop in an ice cube and sip slowly.......every sip is different and sooooo divine! Talking to both owners, they enthuse over crafting spirits that are excellent renditions of their types. "Approachability and drinkability" are words they both use often.......something pretty unique among many small craft distillers. Often, the focus on high-specialty offerings can lose beginners, as it caters only to the more experienced taster. Here, everyone is going to find something to raise an eyebrow.......I'll wager that you'll leave with a lot of their products. Solid win for Killdeer Distillery! In an area where many people visit to check out the many local wineries, this is not a stop to be missed. In fact, it's worth the trip all for itself! read more

What a GREAT place. We saw a sign while driving through Oregon and thought "Lets". So glad we did! Colin was welcoming and friendly. He explained the whole distilling process while we did a "tasting" We tried and liked all the offerings. In the end we left with a bottle of the nicest Gin I've ever had. We also bought 2 bottles of the BEST Absenthe, YUM. Also a bottle of whisky and cRaZy good coffee liquor. All so good read more

Easily the best gin I've ever had. While it isn't the fanciest distillery experience the Willamette Valley has to offer, the spirits are top notch. The couple who runs the show are friendly and fun, and take the time to interact with customers. I will most definitely be back during summer to enjoy the patio (and order a case)! read more
