Wonderful spirits in a spectacular setting with lovely people! This gem caught our attention as we were driving along between wineries and I'm so glad it did! We were bummed to see that we were a week too early for the fall whiskey festival, but reached out to see if we could stop in for a tasting. Bev, one of the owners, arranged a private tasting for us and we were blown away! Her spirits are exquisite and there is something that will appeal to everyone's palate. Don't sleep on the cocktails - the Old Fashioned flight was delicious and so much fun! Bev pairs her distiller's knowledge with a deep appreciation for the history of the region and the distillery's namesake. Ask her for the story of Ewing Young, then sit back and enjoy her telling it. This place is absolutely incredible! A great vibe as you sit and admire the scenery of the hills and look out onto a pond with plenty of wildlife! The whiskey is fantastic and made better by Garret and his knowledge/passion for educating visitors on their whiskey and process! The scenery and ambiance was excellent. Harvest festival 2021 was a great turnout and their whiskey and gin variety was great.

We saw signs for this place and decided to check it out. Bev was amazing and so knowledgeable of everything and really helped us know more about the whiskey drinking experience. The view was gorgeous. I highly suggest the flight and a mule cocktail. Learning the history of Ewing is great and the booze is the best. read more

We spent a wonderful afternoon at Ewing Young which is located on the most spectacular property. After an enjoyable time in the tasting tent chatting with the owners Doug and Bev Root and tasting the barley and caramel malt whiskey and rye, we walked the grounds. We hadn't expected to spend so much time there but we soon discovered it's a pretty unique place. We were given a guided tour of the property including the history of the name Ewing Young. The oak tree - which is the company logo is the largest I've ever seen. The property is also home to a stable with thoroughbred horses and foals and we enjoyed watching them in the pasture.  In the end, we bought both the excellent barley caramel malt and the rye both of which are fine whiskies. This is a "must do" if you enjoy spirits. I've tried all of their spirits and find each to be unique and artfully distilled. It's nice to taste the true craftsmanship of a maker that knows what they're doing. We acquired a collection of whiskies from Ewing Young and offer them to our guests when we entertain. We've had so many compliments from our guests. I love that it's part of our PNW heritage and has a wonderful story that connects you to our land. It's OREGON and I love that. Really wanted to love this place. The location is decent enough, but could do with a bit more curation. Rugged is fine, but there's so much potential that's not being tapped into. Unfortunately the girl at the register knew nothing about their own whiskey, not even how long they've been making it for. Had to ask for corn hole to be set up, and only one board was, in a lazy, impractical location. We had to wait too long for our flights to arrive (and the place was dead!). By FAR our biggest disappointment was the size of the tasting pours. They. Were. Tiny. If you're gonna charge me $20 for a flight.....fine, but you've got to give me enough to coat my mouth with. There's not enough liquid to discern the 3 phases of "nose, palate, and finish." And please don't include "pretzels" as an exciting accoutrement, when it's about 7 of the cheapest, store-bought pretzels in a dinky little bowl. I wanted to buy a bottle, but didn't, almost out of spite. I really don't wanna be mean, because everyone there was perfectly nice. I just think they're figuring things out, but ultimately haven't done so yet. read more

Stopped in to checkout some of their spirits and was surprised to learn that the one I had hoped to purchase (Barley & Caramel Malt Whisky) was actually distilled in Indiana by MGP. Guess I'll give them a few years and check back when they are distilling whiskey in Oregon. read more

Today was a great day - we celebrated my husband's birthday with my two adult sons in a Covid safe outdoor environment with amazing spirits and an Oregon history lesson. Bev was an amazing hostess and spoiled my husband, Doug captured our attention (and that of my two sons) for hours and we didn't check out or head to our cell phones one time - and it is even a football day :o) We will definitely be back, maybe next week even :o) I couldn't decide which spirit to buy - so I bought them ALL. The gin has the most fragrant nose and tastes even better and made the best Negroni when I got home with it. Each whiskey stood on its own and I enjoyed every one, yes we tasted them ALL. If you are headed to the wine country, stop by and visit them, you wont regret. read more

What a great place... located on a beautiful farm with a great history connected to Ewing Young - who's death caused the Oregon country to be created and caused the Hudson Bay Company to loose their foot hold... The Distillery has it's roots back in 1837 and only recently started up following on Ewing Young's dreams. Their Spirits are wonderful and worth a stop - with a knowledgeable and willing staff to teach the finer points in what they distill. At tour is a must (see if you can get Rev Root - owner, to give you a tour of the points of interest - like the 174 year old Heritage Oak tree planted on Ewing Young's grave and the 2 Kentucky Derby winners close by. I highly recommend this treasure. read more
