We were excited to visit this restaurant after reading some reviews. We noticed right off the bat that a couple of the male employees seemed a bit rude and acted as if it was a privilege to be in their establishment rather than being very friendly. Luckily, there was a young waitress that was more courteous than the men there. Food was just ok. The hush puppies were a little on the burnt side as were the fried scallops. The grilled fish and shrimp were a little better. Slaw was pretty good. Definitely a dive. Needs better airflow in the restaurant. Just an ok experience. Will probably not go back. read more

been here for lunch a few times with people from my work... Pretty good grilled tuna fish tacos, although I would like it if they had used more seasoning.. I like spicy food, and thus was pouring huge amounts of their hot sauce on my fish tacos so that they would be a more culinarily interesting experience.. Oh, they make their own hot sauce. It is not very hot, but it was otherwise pretty good, seemed to have a good blend of seasonings, just a bit weak for me.. The tuna used tasted good, just would prefer it if there was some more chile powder involved in the preparation process. I have had fish tacos several times on the Mexican coast in the states of Oaxaca and Sonora, so clearly there they are different (much better) and my expectations might be unreasonable.. You can get your fish tacos on soft corn or flour tortillas.. They come with a side of shredded cabbage or french fries. The music they play here is quite bizarre , some XM radio station I assume, but there is a mix of obscure alternative rock bands with weird country songs with some 90s alternative rock hits and some other random stuff.. The hours are a little unpredictable during the slow (winter) season, so you might want to call ahead if you are here not during tourist season.. This place is somewhat of a biker hangout, but all kinds of people go here, because by Mexico Beach standards it is pretty good.. This is an order and pay at the counter place, CASH ONLY !!!! your food will be brought to your table after you order.. Across the street from the Gulf of Mexico, so there is sort of kind of a view of the Gulf, through the carport of the apartments across the way. By the way, the key lime pie is wonderful!!!! It is $4 for a slice, but you really need to try it at least once!!!! They get an extra star because the key lime pie is so fantastic.. read more

This was our first time visiting and we really enjoyed it. It is a pretty popular place to eat so arrive before you're real hungry. It had a very friendly atmosphere and the staff was quite nice to us. I tried their fish tacos and LOVED them! They use a homemade sauce that adds a little zing to it and is delicious. The kids especially enjoyed the hush puppies, that I found out afterwards had a little jalapeño in them. Be aware though that they are CASH ONLY. Their prices are very reasonable but be prepared ahead of time with cash. read more

From the time we arrived I thought , either all these people are crazy or they have really good food! we arrived at 5:30 and there was a 1 hour wait..they do sell you cold drinks outside(which is where you wait) then the order process is strange they call your name and you go to a counter to order then take a number back to your seat and wait.you also take the number back to the counter to pay...strange but whatever.the food was awesome!!!! I am really hard to please and my husband was worried.but everything we ordered was great,we had the Grilled shrimp and fried grouper combo platter which comes with two sides we got the slaw and hush puppies all were great.,also ordered the grilled tuna fish tacos to share(we had to after the reviews)they are so yummy and not too much cheese as some have said.they were a little pricey but well worth it!!! we are locals and will definitely go back!!! read more

We have a cottage near Killer and have eaten their food many times. However, since I have a fragile, elderly mother, we have always gotten takeout --until two days ago. I called the restaurant right at five on Father's Day and was told that I would have to come down to give my order at 5:30 since they were already backed up---5 minutes after opening? but the food would be ready in 15-20 minutes after the order was placed.. I sent my daughter at 5:30 and the woman at the counter was very dismissive and said they were way too busy to even consider takeout and that she could drop by later and check, despite my daughter telling her what we had just been told 20 minutes earlier. Her response was to tell her that no matter what she had been told, there was no way she would take her order. This is the last time we go to Killer and I am sharing my story with all my contacts who vacation down here. read more

. arggh Matey, let me tell you our story before you walk the plank. Basically this is in our opinion a tourist trap, a perfect place for tourists who never had great southern seafood. We got the feeling the crowd was being churned, get em in, get em out. Not relaxing at all. During our meal, we were literally interrupted 6 times by various staff asking us if we needed anything. Literally. What we needed was a refill on the drinks, tartar sauce and some time to eat our food without interruption. We got the feeling they were herding people in and out. Tourist people objects. No ambience to speak of. I ordered the Killer Shrimp bowl which was a thin watery tomato based sauce with about a dozen boiled shrimp in it. I added rice for a buck to the order and it came, laying in the bottom of the bowl of sauce, well soup I think. The shrimp were large and as they LOOKED like shrimp and chewed like shrimp, they were tasteless. Not even the thin watery sauce they were drowned in (imagine a quart of thin tomato soup with a inadequate sampling of spices) could improve the taste of the shrimp. Not at all. The sauce lent nothing to the 'flavor' of the shrimp. The bread was cheap, thin bread and when dipped in the sauce, it didnt improve at all, just like the shrimp.. The sauce desperately need some butter and some thickening, not to mention less of it. Laughably, one of the waiters wanted to know if we wanted a take out of the left over sauce in the bowl and we declined. My wife got a shrimp basket and she told me later the shrimp were tasteless. The cole slaw was passable with a hint of horseradish I thought...but maybe not. My wife told me the french fries were the best part of her basket, cut from real potatoes apparently and well cooked to a crispy edge and hot soft middle. All in all, this will not be a repeatable experience by us. read more
