[[HIGHLIGHT]]What a cute store with delicious ice cream![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is a small corner with items/gifts for sale. We were told all ice cream is handmade locally and very delicious flavors! They did not limit the number of flavors I tried! The killer whale flavor is half vanilla and half chocolate ice cream with activated charcoal to give more of a black color. I ended up getting a split scoop of the Thai tea Oreo and guava cheesecake in a waffle cone, totaling just below $9. It was a delicious mixed scoop with great flavor to both! I would highly recommend it! [[HIGHLIGHT]]They don't have indoor seating but there are a few benches just outside their door.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is a shared bathroom for the businesses, so you just need to ask for the key from the front counter.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would highly recommended stopping by if you're in the area and looking for some tasty ice cream!

Kinda small portions, but really unique and tasteful flavors. The waffles cones were fresh and very crunchy. Would come again!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Stopped by a weekday early evening and we had the whole store to ourselves![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Server was extremely kind and patient. I ordered the huckleberry and horchata ice creams. Before I officially ordered, she offered a sample to ensure I'd enjoy what I got since it was my time time here. She displayed complete thoughtfulness and good service by doing so. I had been to another creamery, Stella Jean, and by far this place tastes a lot better and has nice server. Definitely recommend!

Such awesome and interesting flavors! I got their caramel brownie flavor with chocolate sauce in a cone, and honestly the cone was the real star. The icecream was lacking a bit in flavor for me (kind of just tasted like vanilla with sparse brownie bites), but holy moly that cone was awesome! My friends got other flavors (the yuzu lychee sorbet and the espresso cookie butter) and loved theirs so maybe I just picked the wrong flavor! Hoping to come back to try another one. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Note that there's no indoor seating and the interior space is very small, but we sat on a ledge outside and there was a bench as well![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I love a good waffle cone and they make their cones fresh here. They shop had a lot of unique flavors. They mentioned that their specialty is the black cherry chip and the Horchata. I actually tried the black cherry chip ice cream and it also includes activated black charcoal. It's a very unique tasting ice cream. I don't think I've ever had anything that tasted quite like it. However, the activated charcoal did make my mouth turn black. The waffle cone was absolutely a delight. It was thin and crispy and buttery. Yums! Small parking lot. Casual. They give samples. Good service. Please come and create your own adventure.

DELICIOUSSSSS!! best new ice cream shop in la jolla. the unique flavors hit the spot every time. perfect day would include beach, killer whale creamery, and blue whale for lunch right across the street

Cute little one-off ice cream shop with good ice cream! When I went, there was a nice and helpful young boy serving. Perhaps not the most sanitary methods of serving but I appreciate his willingness to work at a young age and his kindness! I got the blackberry chocolate chip, which is a pretty unique flavor! Super creamy ice cream with a good amount of chocolate chips and a very good and smooth fudge ribbon throughout. I just wish the berry flavor of the actual ice cream was more prominent. Would come back again if in the area!

This place was wild. Killer Whale Creamery had one of the most insane selections of flavors I have ever seen. It was almost overwhelming--in both a good and bad way. Every single description sounded phenomenal, which made it so hard to choose just one. I ended up going with the ube pancakes and matcha swirl, and wow. It was way too good to pass up. It had actual pancake chunks in it that gave it a nice texture and flavor twist from your typical scoop of ice cream. I also got cookies and cream, which is my go-to and favorite flavor. It was perfectly creamy with just the right amount of Oreo pieces mixed in. I tried a few others too, including the Killer Whale Vanilla, Strawberry Coconut, and S'mores on the Beach. Every one of them was crazy good, but the ube and cookies and cream were the winners for me that day. Next time I am back in San Diego, I am absolutely coming back here and getting more. I might just grab a few cups and go all in, FORGET THE CALORIES BRUH The friends I was with got the cookies and cream and the coconut coffee and were just as happy with their picks. Everyone walked away impressed. Definitely a spot I would recommend to anyone looking for fun and creative ice cream flavors that actually taste as good as they sound.

Me and a friend found this spot and WHOA the options all sound sooooo good. I got the charcoal cherry ice cream I think it was called. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I liked that this location was very clean and quick to get us taken care of :)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Flavor of ice cream was a 10/10

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We came with a small rush and had to wait behind 3 parties. But it was such a cute, decorated spot it wasn't a bad wait! Super ocean-themed, there's sea stars, surfboards, plants, and so many other cute items to look at.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Once it was our turn, we were able to sample flavors before ordering. It was a tough choice but we ended up getting the matcha ube swirl which was super flavorful and unique! Toppings are plentiful but cost a bit extra. Ice cream is a bit expensive but totally worth trying! Highly recommend checking out this spot near La Jolla cove!

Killer Whale Creamery... an interesting name for a gourmet ice cream shop in the village of La Jolla. It's in the same plaza as Sugar and Scribe for those who are familiar with the popular brunch spot. When I visited on a weekend evening near closing time last month, there was still a line that snaked out the front door. The suite was small with no inside seating. Numerous customers were enjoying their frozen treat by sitting outside on the benches and retaining walls of the plaza. Prices were $5 for one scoop, $7.50 for two scoops, and $12 for a flight of four. Toppings cost $0.50 each. They allowed you to sample the flavors which naturally slowed down the progress of the line. With a bold name comes the responsibility of providing bold products. The following flavors of dairy ice cream were available... * Smores on the Beach * Blacks Beachy Cherry * Horchata Churro Topped with Serrano Sugar * Lovely Vanilla Chai Tea * Blackberry Chocolate Chip * Honey Lavender Fields * Surfside Strawberry Cream with Maple Walnuts * Ube Pancakes with Matcha Latte Swirl * Caramel Seaside Turtle Chocolate Brownie * Killer Whale Cocoa & Vanilla * Cookies & Cream For those who wanted vegan choices, these were on the menu... * Mexican Tajin Topped Chamoy * Strawberry Coconut * Mint Chocolate Chip * Blueberry Dark Chocolate * Acai Treat with Honey Granola Clusters A set of six varieties in collaboration with Frankie & Joe's was available for an extra $1.50 each. I sampled at least three kinds of dairy before selecting a flight. My choices were the Blacks Beachy Cherry, Horchata Churro Topped with Serrano Sugar, Honey Lavender Fields, and Acai Treat with Honey Granola Clusters. The first was completely black because of the charcoal used in the blend. It was named in honor of the famous local clothing-optional beach. The cherry flavor was prominent though. The middle two flavors were alright. The acai was refreshing while the granola clusters added texture. The four scoop flight I purchased was the best value. I do have to give kudos for the creativity of several flavors. I am uncertain how often new ones are added to the rotation as the menu hasn't changed for over a month now(?). The creaminess of the products was good, however it wasn't the cream of the crop (sorry for the pun) amongst the neighborhood competition.

The ice cream flavors are somewhat unique, but I've personally had questionable service, which has been corroborated by friends who went to try it after me. The server usually doesn't talk to you and will only help you if you directly ask them, which I've never really seen. It was good to try once, but I don't think they have anything unique that makes me want to go back again unless it happened to be in the area and I wanted ice cream. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is cutely decorated, and matches, what I'm guessing, is their sister restaurant across the street[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

COLD SWEETS (4 stars) Always leave room for dessert. Especially, ice cream! - ICECREAM: good - PRICE: ok - SERVICE: average - AMBIANCE: county or beach (couldn't tell) Sampling is available. Small space, nowhere to sit except for some bench space outside. No idea where the line starts. Two tall guys squeeze in and cut the "line" because they probably didn't know where the line started and that line started with ME. I cut them off and started engaging with the employee immediately - because I could tell he was just going to help them since they squeezed their way to the counter. :: ORDER :: KILLERWHALE ($5.39. / scoop) - cocoa + vanilla. This was the selected one because it looked like the popular flavor and the shop is called killer whale. It's "black" and white, the black being the cocoa which tasted like subtle unsweetened cocoa. Wasn't the color of cocoa, it was dark-dsrk, darker than dark chocolate. Reminded me of charcoal. The white part was the vanilla which added that light sweetness into the ice cream. I did see a trace of redish line between the layers of the cocoa part blending with the vanilla but didn't have any distinct flavor as I think it's the coloring blending together. Overall, this was good. RECOMMEND Not in a rush to come back. Their ice cream is good but nothing that blew my mind away. Until the next review..

My favorite combination is the pistachio with the coffee gelato. The two flavors complement each other perfectly and are a must-try if you're deciding between flavors. One thing that always makes me smile is that the gelato is stored in the classic stainless steel cylinder containers instead of being piled high in display cases. Maybe it's just me, but I always feel like that's a sign the gelato is going to be extra fresh and high quality The service was also great. Even when there was a line, everything moved quickly, and the staff were friendly and happy to offer recommendations if you weren't sure what to order. If you're in San Diego and craving authentic, creamy gelato, Bobboi is definitely worth the visit. I'll absolutely be coming back for that pistachio and coffee combo again.

THE BAKED BEAR @ PACIFIC BEACH…read more There isn't a dedicated parking lot, but you can usually find street parking or neighborhood parking nearby. Personally, I've always had the best luck with neighborhood parking since there are typically more spots available. Just keep in mind that Pacific Beach gets extremely busy, especially on weekends. By the afternoon, parking can be pretty difficult because everyone is heading to the beach and all the restaurants and dessert spots in the area. I've been wanting to try The Baked Bear for a while, specifically for their famous ice cream sandwiches. One of the best parts is that you get to customize your sandwich by choosing your cookie flavors and ice cream. I went with the Blue Monster ice cream between two chocolate chip cookies, and it was so good! It was super flavorful, and the cookies paired perfectly with the ice cream. My only downside is that the portions are much bigger than I expected. The ice cream sandwich is definitely large enough to share between two people, so I'd definitely recommend splitting one unless you're really craving something sweet. It was delicious, but it left me feeling a little too full afterward. The staff was very friendly, and the service was great. The inside of the shop is on the smaller side, though, and I did notice that the tables were a bit sticky and dirty when we sat down. I wish they cleaned the tables more frequently as customers came and went. Overall, I'd still recommend stopping by if you're in Pacific Beach. It's a great dessert spot that's only a short walk from the beach, making it the perfect treat after spending the day by the ocean.
